Pens Hockey 2021?

OK, you're negative. And a little bit whiny, I might add.

You're done with Sullivan? He's lost the team? Huh? What do you want from the guy? The Penguins are finally healthy -- he's simply putting his best players out on the ice. They are more talented than the Islanders, and they'll win this series based on having better skill. This isn't the 1980s or 90s; a lack of "push back" after the whistle has little importance in today's NHL. Sure, it'd be great to have an old-school enforcer out there to protect star players, but I'd rather have guys who can put the puck in the net instead of worrying about neutralizing the Matt Martins of the world.
Haha. Just negative. I woke up good and happy the guys got the W last night. Hockey wise the Pens are the more skilled team.

More worried of injury to Sid or a good role player

I feel like Jarry is getting unfairly criticized for some of these goals allowed, especially after game 1. A lot of these shots were perfectly placed on the top shelf by the Islanders; they deserve some credit, too. That pinpoint precision wasn't there in Game 2 (and I don't expect it to be going forward in this series) -- when the shots aren't perfect, Jarry almost always stops them. Tonight, the other goals he gave up were on a wide open net after Marino lost his helmet, a five-hole deflection off of Cici's skate, and another lucky bounce off a body.

Jarry is no Brodeur or Roy, but he is every bit as good as Matt Murray, and solid enough to have similar playoff success with this deep Penguins team.
I think he’s better than Murray. Game 2 was an indicator of his bounce back game. He does have a weak high glove that the isles go after and will continue throughout the series.

We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. He’s handling the chaotic moments well for a young goalie.
Yes I rewatched the game not so down on the guys lol.

Pens will be playing with house money tomorrow afternoon. Take another one in NY and I will be able to rest easier. Been a good series, so far. The Isles are not flashy, work hard and were trying to be sneaky with the whole line brawl. The Pens are just better and showed it last night. They answered every goal from NY. That was impressive. I don't think we will see a perfect game by the Pens in the PO. There will be breakdowns and mistakes, but if they can continue to capitalize, they should be good. Sid continues to be the glue of the team and his play at the end of the game was brilliant.

Don't forget Carter&Tanev! Which I'm seriously liking both of those guys. Those guys have been coming up big and are a major factor on the team. All we need is the good Geno to step it up across the board. Which we know he's capable of. I'm not sure what his injury is. Teams are pretty hush hush when it comes to that. I do know guys play through some pretty significant injuries in the playoffs.

I mentioned Carter last night in what he's done. He's exceeded everything for me. Tanev, when he went down, they missed his energy, PK and hustle. He's just a sparkplug I'm glad we have. He makes **** happen out there and not affraid to hit or get in the middle of it all.
Geno was good last night. His presence alone is worth it. His pass to JC was pretty great. Stay away from bad penalties and being lazy, he is fine. So far so good!

Ugly win, but they are all wins. I’ll take it. Resilience is the name of tonight’s game.
Good "Pens Win" Morning after to yinz!...
:)
Sarge--I got to disagree with that.

I think that was a beautiful win last night, especially considering how we would fold in the past due to these shenanigans....
As we all know, this team is not built for the "garage league" stuff, but they looked like the Energizer Bunny last night!!
They kept going and going and going until they got the WIN!
The Pens showed mega heart last night IMO..

I am calling we will all look back sometime down the road... and say this was a turning point in this years playoffs for the Pens..

Great win but goaltending and lack of physicality is going to be this teams undoing. You aren't going to win many playoff games giving up 4 goals. This team has talent but I'm afraid the wear and tear on them is going to pile up.
Every team has to deal with the wear and tear Vader...

Jarry will be fine...they were crashing him all night..

Yeah but when MTC is negative and whining, he's summoning the Inner Penguin within the current roster and some former players. Its really bizarre and creepy. When he's confident, we're certain to lose.

I'm normally the very negative one. It worked great on our last cup win. I call it reverse sports fan psychology. Normally whatever I say the opposite happens.

I'm going to try it with the Steelers this season. Although it's been 13 years since the last superbowl win and I've tried it both ways..lol.

Don’t jinx it. If my negativity doesn’t work tomorrow I’m gonna have to try something else

And Jake needs to shy away from scrums. He’s too small
I can't stand the prick but how in the hell March can stay vertical after some of the hits he has taken is unreal. Jake can't be any bigger than him. Maybe he just bounces off. I think March has that street thug mojo going for him that Jake doesn't have. Of course March doesn't sell ice cream either. ;)

Couldn't agree more. Last year's team would have folded the tents and went home after giving up the lead in the third period. Carter at center on the third line just makes the Penguins so much stronger. As others have suggested, I'd also consider putting him on the #1 power play.

NY will be coming out for heads hope we play more physical along the boards not allowing easy entry across blue line. Was a great win when it seemed everything was going against them late in third.

Some teams hit and others get hit. It isn't the same.... Dino

Caps are done. As much as I want to see them extend the series a few games to wear on the B's don't think it will happen. They had like 9 SOG last night headed into the 3rd....9....

I was reading a few fan posts and many were saying they needed to get smaller and faster. Thought that was sort of ironic.

I think their love affair with the one dimensional great 8 has come to and end as well. Nothing like having your captain publicly berating their teammate on national tv when they lost in OT a few nights ago.

Weight training probably. Marchand does look stockier than Guentzel.

Street thug mojo possibly too. Rough neighborhood kids who make it to the big time are some tough cookies.

I think it helps to have a combination of both speed/skill and some size toughness. Just my philosophy but I would like a bottom line with players like Matt Cullen who excels at faceoffs, has timely playmaking on the ice along with wingers like Kunitz who was physical and smart and Reaves who is more of a goon but can play if presented.

When you have a lead, you want a line that can control the physicality and maintain a strong possession of the puck to limit chances

Pens are looking pretty strong to this point.

McCann is sniffing that goal this afternoon
