Rust and Guentzel look off. Both guys were dynamic play makers when needed. Rust popped out of nowhere in 2016 and tore it up. Guentzel, I’d expect him to be the next team captain when Sid leaves just cause of his hockey IQ.Guentzel's first two postseasons: 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 37 games with 7 GWG and a +11.
Guentzel's last three postseasons: 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 12 games with 0 GWG and a -3.
He used to be a great playoff hockey forward...what the hell happened?
Very disappointing loss, a total team letdown after a spirited game 3 victory. More lucky goals for the Islanders yesterday, though -- I still like the Penguins' chances in a best-of-three. Sid needs to step up and lead the way. He's got the same line as Guentzel in the last 12 playoff games: 5 points and a -3. That's simply not good enough production from an elite player.
Sid’s line however has looked off and downright lethargic to say. It’s like they are skating in quicksand. I love Sid. The dude sees the game like no other and has some jaw dropping creative moments, but even he’s been in a funk. At least this is the vibe I feel.
I’m hoping for a win, but not raising expectations monday. I generally like the skill of this roster but the bottom lines do need Reaves/Wilson type of guy, not just for physicality purposes but like I stated yesterday strong puck possession.
We’re a fast team but not Tampa Bay fast. We have skill. We’re better putting the puck in the skill players sticks and let them control the game. Part of that is controlling center ice and spending more time in the offensive zone.
