When do the Steelers tell Ben it’s time to step aside?

So we have no line or running game with Ben. We are going to have no line or running game with Rudolph. Rudolph is not very mobile and we have seen him a good bit. Don't think he is a better option than Ben at this point. Our WRs did have some drops and our D caved. Ben also made some terrible choices, but prime Ben did that as well. If we had a young mobile QB i would consider sitting Ben, but I think it would only be worse with Rudolph
I'm not saying you would necessarily win more games but Rudolph takes what is there. Ben wants some big 15 -30 yard shot every three plays. They are getting way behind the sticks. They get nothing on a first down and then a token run for 2 yards or a loss. Way too many third and unmanageable.

This is Ben's last year! We could use his money on the Oline. I'm not sure I reup Minka either as that money too could go to Oline. Then in the draft, my first two picks are Oline, period! Then I will hit up receivers and CB and call it a draft! Then, I bring in as many Olinemen, WR's, and CB as I can UDFA. Someone has to stick! You just have to remove Tomlin from the equation and allow positional coaches the say in who is kept or cut, regardless of who the vet is that gets outplayed (yes, Tomlin likes "his" guys - he get enamored with some guys). Put a whole bunch of them on the PS. Then, you just might field a competetive offensive team, which will only make the D much better becasue they aren't on the field for 45 minutes out of the 60!

Neither do teams without a line that can create any push or protect their QB.
Actually I think Ben had a fair amount of time during pass plays. He also had a surprising amount of time last week. Especially in the red zone both weeks. ( not that they got there often) Its not like Ben was running for his life all games long. I really disagree. With an open mind,go watch the film. Now,of course he got sacked. Not all on the line. Receivers getting open, bad decisions made come into play as well. And believe it or not, even great lines give up sacks. He has had time to pass. Really disagree.

This line has been together 2 games. I am not saying that they are probowl, but come on.

I'll echo what has been said. We don't have anything better on the roster. I've seen plenty of Rudolph at this point in his career. He'll be a journeyman backup. Dobbs and Haskins who are question marks who aren't likley to top what Rudolph can do IMO.
Put Haskins in the fire!!! **** it...

Seems like when Ben gets a bit of time he has to hold the ball at times....are the WRs not getting open? Is it bad play design? Or something else?

I like Ben, but it’s time to move on. He’s getting up slower after hits.

He’s trying to force big plays to happen and things just seem to be moving too fast for him. Hopefully it’s just a string of bad play that will improve as the season progresses, but perhaps it’s just that time to accept he’s done.

18 years is ancient in pro sports. The guy has accomplished a lot

I love Ben. Seriously, but, it's time to bring Haskins up and let him and Rudy change this offense under the new OC. Today's loss really got me down because our offense still looks like last year.
Lol....and with those othee two guys guess what?.....it will look just like last years offense and the year before also.

But if Claypool pulls in one more the nine targets he seen (specifically the one he failed to outmuscle the db on in the end zone) this is a different game, Ben has another 40 yards, and maybe, just maybe gets a better rhythm going? Dropped passes do happen, and defenders are going to make some plays, but isn’t the wide receiver room supposed to be one of the deepest in the nfl, with some guys who could potentially be #1s to elsewhere? I agree, I don’t see the same washed up guy, I think it’s the easiest thing to point to, and say “told ya so,” when the reality is that this receiver group is soft as diaper ****, and rarely make plays to bail their qb out.

on the deep completion to DJ, am I the only one who thought he just sort of jogged his way out of bounds instead of trying to get into the EZ?

DJ also ****** Ben on the INT, even the announcers said if he would have fought thru the defender Bens pass would have been on target and not intercepted.

All the bullshit about getting rid of Ben makes my dick itch, it's like some of you don't even watch the ******* game. Ben throws a almost perfect TD pass to Claypool and he can't bring it in, hits Ebron right in the ******* numbers and he drops it like usual. How many big plays were ****** up by drops or not fighting for the ball, add to that that Ben is running for his ******* life everytime he throws the ball and our run blocking is worse than our local HS team.

Other than Mahomes name A QB that would do better with the Oline dropped passes and no run game Ben has to deal with. You got a almost 40 year old QB and protect him with a bunch of rookies and scrubs, now tell me whose ******* fault is that.

Wow...so much Ben hate here. Mind boggling. Horrible OL. Which in turn gives us a horrible running game. Our WRs are soft and lack awareness.....let put the blame on Ben. YOU ALL HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO TOO MUCH OF ******* CRIS CARTER. Here is a tid bit of info. If we were going to move on from Ben......we would have already did that by not bringing him back. He is here for the season. If healthy he starts. And that might not be to much longer if our OL keeps letting him get hit like he has.......because they suck.

Well, you will get no argument from me. I think he’s been average for years and below average in the playoffs for years. Yes it might take some time to replace Ben. But the process has to start. And yes I also believe he’s a first ballet HOF.

Look,I know my comments aren’t popular cause Ben will light it up for a game or two and bring back the old memories. But he will also absolutely stink for 8 or 9 as well. No consistency. And it’s been that way for a while now. For better or worse he is our QB for the season. And I would love nothing better than to be wrong about his success.

Good deal. Are you starting Rudy on Sunday?

Nobody hates Ben. It's over. He's done. This team isn't going to the Super Bowl, and probably gonna miss the playoffs, with or without Ben. At this point, playing Ben is the difference between 5-12 and 7-10. A lot of things are going have to drastically change for the better for the Steelers to even sniff the playoffs.

See this type of comment is nothing to me. It’s not about Ben hate. I don’t hate Ben. It’s not about the Backup. No,I don’t think Rudy is the answer. People commenting about their dick itch, that people aren’t watching the games. I can frigging well assure you that I watch the games quite closely. For me it’s actually about the future of the Steelers. Do you guys really ,really think that Ben can get even get us a sniff. I don’t. No it’s not all on him. But he’s not our future. He’s our past. I would have let him retire or however it worked out.
And of course Ben will start every game this season.

Like more than 39 yards rushing?

Then why not support the guy?

If they are willing to bench Ben after two games they shouldn't have even brought him back this year. So if Ben is healthy he plays. I personally thought they shouldn't have brought him back.

With 39 yards rushing he's the only chance we have of making the season somewhat interesting.

Yep. He is here so support him. Everyone saying to move on from Ben doesn't think Rudy can do better or think he is the future but want him to play. Umm...ok.

The reason you are seeing that is they are bringing 4 and 5 man pressures only and still getting enough pressure. Then they have 6 and 7 in zone which is the book on Big Ben.

Maybe if we come out with a real game plan from the first snap instead of trying to run a ****** game plan for half a game. We dig ourselves into a hole every week.
