The Steelers did what they thought was best for the team

Then let the expectations recede. It doesn't matter because he doesn't. Hypotheticals don't win championships.
Not saying you are blind. Saying you are missing the point. Yes he threw for 295 but a portion of that happened when the Raiders were giving yards. But the bigger picture is what was the point of pushing the chips in AGAIN and restructuring if you do not have an offensive line. So you can win three extra games and not make the playoffs or be one and done again.Guess I'm totally blind. I don't know what the hell some of you guys were watching today.
300 yds/67%.....dropped passes /wrong route running. Ben can't catch the passes for them or run the correct route.
What I'm seeing is a totally garbage O line that can't protect or run block for ****. Maybe they will gel and things will look better as the weeks go by.
I think there are a lot of emotions coming thru in this thread, or maybe I am going blind.

I agree with you here. But compete for some wins or a championship. Cause if they are trying to get 9 wins for cool shades that is very short sighted. In fairness I'm sure the organization felt /feels that they have a team that CAN compete.
For me, I figured this O line we have put together would suck balls this year, as well as the secondary. But I honestly don't think the staff sees it that way.
But you are discounting the fact he is loved by many because he is not White.Haskins? Haskins sucks. Period. I'd rather play Ben. Or Mark Malone. Or Bubby Brister. That's how bad Haskins is.
Championship all the way. They know Ben gives us the best shot at that, but it ain't happening without a run game. They know this and it's why they drafted Harris, but so far the line can't seem to open running lanes, which is exactly why we fell apart last year.I agree with you here. I agree with some of what you are saying it is game 2 and one loss doesn't make a season. It won't break their season. They could go on to make the playoffs and even win one playoff game. If a sports miracle graced us even more. But injuries happen to every team. **** the rats have more injuries than any other team and beat the Chiefs Sunday night. So yeah the Steelers were snake bit with injuries but the depth behind those injuries were a mixed bag of results. Keep in mind the depth came in the form of experienced players. Biggest play on D came off a CB they traded for. Chuks stinking up RT has plenty of experience. The failure to bring in someone significant behind Sutton once they knew they were going to lose two experienced corners cost them. The Oline they started two rookies and that comes with a price early. So injury excuses doesn't go too far with me especially on a team that seems snake bitten year after year late with that problem. The off-season the forum kept targeting T and CB as need areas. Tombert did well in some areas but failed depth in these areas. That money you are going to roll into next year they are sitting on isn't helping this year. But yeah one loss is one loss. AFC North is all tied up. That Oline better be improving quickly or changes need to be made.Game 2.
JFC, you bunch of *******.
WE go into the game missing 2 cogs and lose another 2. Surprised we kept it that close.
Let us look at the here and now average yardage and completion percentage is both in the 20s in QB comparisons. He is publicly saying his performance wasn't good enough. And he is right it wasn't. I started my debate saying he is part of the problem and I still feel that way after digging. Bad Tombert decisions ring in too in other areas of the team. You bring the guy back knowing he needs certain scenerios to succeed and you fail him. All things said that doesn't change that his play needs to pick up.Just one game. Really? Are you ****** kidding me. This is exactly what it was all of last year. And they were piling up those wins in the what 11 game run. But a blind man could see the problems. And when the entire defense is there they really are a tough opponent. But this is football. The offense looks exactly the same and when the defense isn't intact they just get torched over the middle. So, you maybe get one of Bush or Haden back next week. Watt will be out a minimum of two. One game. Give me a break.
Pffft, he made one bad decision yesterday and that was because his line almost got him killed, and then DJ gave up on the play. And that sequence was aided by a stupid penalty by Ray Ray that pushed them back to begin with. Ray Ray had a **** game yesterday.
I agree with this. The technics are not there often, the communication between players seems iffy, the play calling is Tomlinesque, and these all stack the cards against us bigtime. I've never hidden my lack of enthusiasm for Tomlin, but now that Ben is not a super hero, it is shining. When I watch other games, the WRs are getting wide *** open. Not us. Our WRs can't get any separation or find the sweet spot in the zone.
Our OL is young and inexperienced and hopefully with time that will get better as they gel.
Our running game is blah, because we don't commit to it (see above).
The play calling sucks *** still. I thought it would get better with Finchter gone, but it has not. We need Ben under center, with more play action, but that will only come when the OL gets better and we commit to running the ball. I want a 50/50 balance (or near it).
That 4th and short where Tomlin lived in his fears and punted pissed me off. If you can't line up and get a yard with Najee, then we are ****** no matter how you look at it.
when was the last time Ben attended every practice in a given week? And you think that's going to happen NOW?You guys calling for them to bench Ben are a bunch of pansy *** fair-weather fans if I ever saw them. Holy ****!. Bew was not the reason for either loss. Sure, he could have played better but so could the O-line (Ben got drilled hard countless times yesterday) and the WR's could run the correct routes or not completely give up on a play because he thought he might get a penalty call and, in turn, he gave the other team an easy interception. Ben is still playing well but he is rusty. I think he might have gotten one practice in last week, which is a coaching decision and a bad one at that. He needs to practice all week this week to hopefully get in tune with his WR's and vice versa since they hardly had any game time this preseason to do it.
Well...we're almost halfway there anyway, so....I agree with this. I've never hidden my lack of enthusiasm for Tomlin, but now that Ben is not a super hero, it is shining.
Any of the other guys here who also lived through the Post-70s Steelers will know what lies ahead. There are a ton of changes needed, starting with the coaching staff.
Let Ben play. He has earned the right to leave on his terms. You young bucks will see. Let's just hope it's not 26 years inbetween SBs again.
Those injuries had NOTHING to do with the offense.Game 2.
