When do the Steelers tell Ben it’s time to step aside?

Yep. He is here so support him. Everyone saying to move on from Ben doesn't think Rudy can do better or think he is the future but want him to play. Umm...ok.
Yes I like cake and also eat it too. Not really sure how that became an analogy as you would have to have possession of said cake before you could consume and digest it. ;)

Maybe if we come out with a real game plan from the first snap instead of trying to run a ****** game plan for half a game. We dig ourselves into a hole every week.
That would help...And keep working on the ******* running game!!!!! You don't get better at something by not doing it!!!!

As long as it appears that you are contending for playoffs. But Do you want to just draft a QB next year or do you want to finalize what Rudolph is. Cause I'm not convinced? Franchise guy? No. Ryan Tanahill? Maybe.

I really hope we come out with the half ****** game plan next week. I'm all about improvement.

Ben shouldn't have been brought back if you they were going to bench him after 2 weeks.... As you said. If we are still in contention Ben will start.

Baby step....baby steps.

BEN will play as long as we are contending and in week 2 we are contending. Week 10 may be a different story but I'd lay odds we are still contending week 10, least ways within our division.

If we do fall out of contention then you experiment but not before. Should BEN get hurt, bend over far enough to spread your butt cheeks and kiss your *** goodbye.

I agree 100% but he looked OK to good in second half of Bill's game. If it's like this after week 6 or 7......I'll have seen enough. Not admitting you were wrong and made a mistake is a very bad idea.

This thread isn’t going to age well this season… i think the bones to a pretty good offense is there…
I really think if you slow things down and watch the line, you see a line that is aggressive, but not cohesive yet … when they get that cohesiveness down, the run game is going to be good, and that will loosen things up

Ben got creamed a lot today… he threw for virtually 300 yards and completed 67% of his passes… yes we all want more points, but im not impatient… I’ve seen offenses completely come alive many times…
That run game gets going and we are fine… yeah id like the wrs to tighten up their routes and focus more… and it would be awesome if ebron existed again… but despite the lack of productivity, this isn’t totally last years offense and there is a lot to build on here…

If Ben gets hurt I'm taking up golf on Sundays. Probably would be a blessing for many. :)

My gut would likely appreciate the lack of chili and beer intake no doubt...Might live a few more years, BP will go down...Hmmm..... Keep it up line you're doing great 👍

Love the optimism madinsomniac and agree with you. Give it a little time and I think things will get better. I remeber seasons where it took BEN 4-5 games just to wake up and his non-involvement within preseason helps contribute to that.

If you are saying after 6 or 7 weeks we are still in first place at say 3 and 3 or 4 and 3 or even 3 and four I play Ben. He simply gives us our best chance to win when he is under center.

why move on from Ben now?

We know Mason is ****. We've seen ALL he has to offer ... which isn't much at all.
We do not know what WE have in Haskins. But if he's behind MASON ******* RUDOLPH, then likely he doesn't bring much to the table either.

And, neither of those two guys would do any better than Ben did behind this abysmal OL we've put together.
We have a RG spitting in someone's face
We have a Center going JoJoWonderBoy after plays are over

Dotson? average
Moore? a rookie
Chuks? who?

Ben can still throw the ball. He can still read defenses - and read them better than Mason or Haskins. But it doesn't matter if our OL cannot block and seems unwilling to block.

Guess we should just throw Najee away, too, by the logic you people have used.

Yes I agree but if he and the offense are still playing like this it ain't gonna matter. Defense will weaken with attrition of injury. I don't think you will see 3-3 or 4-3 have this team in the lead. The Browns are pretty good.

Ben's skills are still there and the arm is strong enough, he just isn't good enough anymore to go out and win games on his own. He needs quite a bit of help and he isn't getting it. The offensive line is worse than last year and he's already taking more hits. His body didn't physically hold up last season and he may start to fade even earlier this year if he keeps taking a beating.

Well, you will get no argument from me. I think he’s been average for years and below average in the playoffs for years. Yes it might take some time to replace Ben. But the process has to start. And yes I also believe he’s a first ballet HOF.

Look,I know my comments aren’t popular cause Ben will light it up for a game or two and bring back the old memories. But he will also absolutely stink for 8 or 9 as well. No consistency. And it’s been that way for a while now. For better or worse he is our QB for the season. And I would love nothing better than to be wrong about his success.
We all want to see our guys ride off as champions. The 2000’s Steelers/Pens were a big part of my teenage and 20’s life. So that said Ben brings nostalgic feelings for us fans holding onto the past.

Future wise and realistically speaking, Ben is a shell of his former self. Yes he has some left in the tank, and I’ll support him while he’s under center but at the same time. It’s time to start thinking of a new QB soon.

You cannot move on from him now. He’s the best chance they have at winning. But is he enough for a championship season?

Franchise QB’s are hard to come by in the nfl. Enjoy this season for what it is. As a fan I’m prepping for some kent graham/mike tomzak 2.0 days

Have you looked at what's coming into the league next year as far as projected 1st round QBs? It's not exactly an Eli, Phil, Ben group of prospects. So, yeah, enjoy the last ride with the Ol' Gunslinger.

If Ben retires i think we should bring in a vet. Money maybe an issue, but if the upcoming QBs are bad we can't waste an early draft pick just to draft one. If we can't get a projected starter take a late round flier on a mobile QB

Look around the league. Good teams have mobile quarterbacks. The Bucs are the exception with Brady, but he is arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, and light years ahead of Ben in the accuracy department. And somehow, at the age of 44, he still gets around better than Ben does (plus Brady's not afraid to run a quarterback sneak, which apparently is out of the question for Mike Tomlin to call with Ben, even when the Steelers are down by two scores with under nine minutes left in the game, and need half a yard -- he'd rather punt it away).

In today's NFL, you need a quarterback who can make plays with his arm and his feet. Sadly, Ben can't do so anymore. That's why guys like Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan are already dinosaurs, and becoming more and more ineffective as they age.

And for you guys bitching about Diontae Johnson going out on the 5 yard line, he was pushed by the defender, and the momentum from that shove moved him out of bounds. Find something else to cry about besides the guy who had 9 catches for 105 yards.

We wasted this year bringing back Ben for a farewell tour.let him ride off into the sunset that was predetermined when we stupidly resigned a shot QB.
