Why are the Steelers even considering Aaron Rogers?

Expectations for this team have been low for me since Ben retired, and because I have no financial skin in this game, I just sit back and watch, hoping that they surprise me.
Yeah me too.

Coming here makes everything worse. The ******* bitching and moaning.
Nobody can leave the scab alone. Just pick at it till we ALL get mersa.

I don't think that has ever been the situation. It is something that has been stated as factual and there isn't much truth to back it up, since the earliest days of FA. Players want to make as much as they can, wherever that is, and good for them. That has nothing to do with the present situation of the Steelers, it's always been that way.
If you read what I was replying to, it makes more sense. And people absolutely believe it lock stock and barrel. See it on the internet every day.

Maybe the states with no income tax can state that, that is real $ difference. Not having to pay a million $s is a big difference. If FL there is no state tax, you can't say that in NY.

The Jets were going to the Superbowl with Rodgers. We saw how that turned out. I don't think he is the missing piece. I think Rodgers can play at a slightly above average level, but at this point in his career that is about it
Average would be the 16th best QB. Do you (not you, personally) honestly think he is above the 16th best QB? Maybe 20th? He had the 25th qbr rating in 2024. 25th, that about right. Russ had the 22nd. Also seems about right.

Qbr seems pretty right on in QB evaluation. Rogers would also have a worse OL and WRs in Pgh compared to the Jets. And certaining no genius at HC in Pgh. Run every 1st and 2nd down, pass behind the LOS or sideline on 3rd, punt of 4th over and over again. Scared as sh-- the whole time.

Until khan took over as GM the Steelers were always reluctant to give free agents big bonuses (the guaranteed money FAs seek). So the Steelers rarely got the premier free agents and waited for the spenders to spend and then they circled the bargain bin.

Now the Steelers have a GM willing to spend and the cap to do it but players realize what a **** scheme going on here will do to their future earnings so they just go get paid by an organization that has direction.

One day maybe we’ll have an owner willing to spend, a GM willing to as well AND a coach that makes Pittsburgh a good destination. But I ain’t holding my breath on that trifecta coming home around the bend anytime soon.

You'd be surprised what a savvy owner could do. Kahn's just doing what he thinks is the consensus of all involved. Art deuce is just cheap in general, don't ask what their annual gym expenses are.

Not arguing about the scheme and all that. But if the Steelers offer the right money, they could run the old veer or something and the FAs will sign. I don't think they give a shiit about scheme if the Steelers are offering the most money. And I don't blame them.

One of our main issues is we USED TO build through the draft, lose out on the first vet contract and just reload through the draft again. While Cowher missed on a few (Jermaine Stephen’s/Huey Richardson…), he hit on most. Aside from this last draft, I can’t remember hitting on the front-end of the draft w HCMT as often.

That, and Cowher had always brought in good coaches too which followed the same fate (hired away/fired promptly). This was under Dan Rooney, who was much more involved w the team, players, coaches and families than Duece. He doesn’t come around all the time and let’s HCMT be the patriarch of the team.

It’s not working, imo.

Sign Rodgers to 3 years. Let Tomlin's fate rest in Rodgers hands. 🤔

Tomlin....18 straight Tomlinship's

ARod....4 TIME MVP, VET SB WINNING QB.

What could go wrong?

Fully agree, if Aaron is signed then make it Tomlin’s duration. That duration should be the final destruction of the “Tomlinships” as we know them.

I have NO faith the Roger’s makes two, yet alone three but……….. anything is possible in ‘AMerica’ .

What if I ask?

You’ll get some survey answer, but no actual financial facts.

You might as well get a craps game going with some of the ground crew and fish more reliable information out of them…..

Thanks. What's a luxury S10?

It’s something you just don’t go and see,……………. But something you are introduced to.!!!

Stick around and you will hear tales of legend, involving the LS 10.

I've heard enough of the stories about the escapades of certain SN family members to not be interested in that introduction. Tnx. My therapist has heard the stories, too. Just sayin'.

Depends if it is 2nd contract
I’d wager premier free agents will take a bit less elsewhere playing for that 3rd if the offers are close

A massive overpay, sure they may come

Now the old guys on their last contract, of course those are fair game for Mike Tomlin’s geriatric home

I know what t used to be at 3 Rivers: $100 per year. No, there aren't missing zeros in that #, it was $100 per year and it looked like it. There we more impressive high school gyms.

Well can you prove that???
