Why are the Steelers even considering Aaron Rogers?

Because people are still under the delusion that the Pittsburgh Steelers are a preferred destination for high end talent and actually believe high caliber players will take less just to play here. Maybe at one point, but not anymore.

Unfortunately you are 100% correct. It has been a long time

Why would Purdy take less than DK? You'd have to bump that total number up to around 250, and the guarantee to 80. But that's still not enough draft capital for a young QB AND an all pro RB.

You’re right

Why would a rebuilding team scrap two of its most crucial building blocks? Doesn’t make sense for a couple picks.

They may be in rebuild mode, but that trade suggests scorched earth mode.

In that trade they’d have to send Aiyuk too or no deal!!!

I here Aiyuk is coming any day now😎

The only advantage i see with Rodgers is he might ignore the coaches and do what he wants. Other than that Brady, Montana, Marino , etc etc would not be effective in this offense. We keep changing the player and getting the same results. It is a system issue

If Smith/Tomlin had problems keeping Wilson doing only what they wanted with no audibling, imagine how much worse it will be with Rodgers. He is very known for wanted the players and the O to run the way he wants things. This makes it even more odd that Tomlin's mancrush is getting the best of him. I guess it's true when they say love is blind because Tomlin is truly blinded right now and Rooney won't lift a finger to stop the nonsense.

Cuz they’re making bank, not everyone is in it for the chips. Easy gig, Wednesdays off for vets, good money, cool uncle for head coach.

Until they win anything, these guys are second tier below Deebo, Troy, Farrior, etc.
That’s the point, they won’t win anything here and the clock is ticking. I would think these two especially Watt would at least have the strong desire to win a playoff game something neither has not seen here.

I'm not sure of the "it would be fun to watch" part. 1st of all, anything related to Clown-lin is not "fun to watch." His "piss his pants" offense is hardly fun to watch, no will it be. It's in his dna to operate a cautious, "pee his pants" offense and that will never change, only get worse. It's ingrained in his DNA; he can't change it. It just keeps getting worse, the further he goes towards the playoffs the worse his cautious nature gets: run, run, attempted sideline pass, punt. Over and over again. There is nothing fun about it, nor will there be. And even with a new RB, doom is all you can expect: totally predictable running game, zero imagination. Horrid OL blocking, 4 defenders in the backfield all day. It's the Clown-lin way.
The Killer Bee's were fun to watch, despite Tomlin

For those who want these words to be real..enjoy. For everyone else...damn this AI thing is getting ridiculous as far as figuring out what is real and what is not. Fooled me till I read it was fake.

It's a "system" "and "use of the system" subject. In other words, how does Clown-lin use the said antiquated system? Like a scared rabbit running from a wolf. He's a *****, to put it bluntly.

I have no idea why Tomlin likes the idea of getting a much older QB with a worse statistical season…and mobility than the guy he had last year (Wilson). Not saying either aren’t future HOFers but only one has had a history here and has shown the ability to “run away” when necessary without getting injured in the process.
Just go w Russ or draft a mobile QB who doesn’t suck. (My picks would be Rourke or Ewers depending on what Round pick we sacrifice for a guy who won’t play or look great playing in the offensive system we used for the past __ years).
We can hope for a miracle that we will have more than a PeeWee football selection of plays but history suggests that HOPE is not a strategy.
Their stat averages were almost identical last year. Considering Rodgers played for the Jets, a year after a severe achilles injury, I'd say he had a decent year. I'd expect him to be even better this year with a team like the Steelers since he'd have more talent than with the Jets and more time passing since the injury. I think Rodgers is an upgrade on the field over Wilson at this point in their careers if those two are the only options the team is considering at this point. I'd be fine with Wilson coming back on a cheaper contract, but last year showed me that his age may finally be catching up to him. He's always had the athletic ability to offset being a shorter QB. He's lost enough of the athletic ability it makes his size a liability now against bigger teams up front. Then again, he is a good fit for Tomlin's offense where they run on first and second down then throw deep down the sideline then punt on four and inches.

I see Rodgers as the missing piece for a team that is a better than average QB away from contending for the Super Bowl. I feel he would have been a great fit with the Vikings and may have put them over the top had they signed him and he stayed healthy. I don't know if the Steelers is a QB like Rodgers away from being good enough everywhere else to contend. I guess we will find out. The guy won back to back MVPs, then blew out his achilles on the first drive as a Jet. He played last year on a terrible team still recovering from the injury. I think he's closer to the back to back MVP QB this year in the right situation than the wash up many around here seem to think. People may not like his personality or politics, but the guy is a winner and has high expectations and has been there before. Considering how soft this team is, it could use someone that holds teammates accountable and fires them up. Tomlin sure isn't that person. Bring him in on a two year contract with only one year guaranteed to see how it goes.

And the experiment will cost them $10-20 more million and with what outcome? Same as always: 9-10 wins, out immediately after 1st game of playoffs. Why even bother f----g around? What's the purpose?

Expectations for this team have been low for me since Ben retired, and because I have no financial skin in this game, I just sit back and watch, hoping that they surprise me.

I don't think that has ever been the situation. It is something that has been stated as factual and there isn't much truth to back it up, since the earliest days of FA. Players want to make as much as they can, wherever that is, and good for them. That has nothing to do with the present situation of the Steelers, it's always been that way.

The Jets were going to the Superbowl with Rodgers. We saw how that turned out. I don't think he is the missing piece. I think Rodgers can play at a slightly above average level, but at this point in his career that is about it

It’s all about the money, wining is secondary only after the money.

TJ is a good example of that. Don’t blame him at all
