Well, we've seen him attached to Clown-lin as head coach, so it's not fair to evaluate that.I read from the get go Tomlin wanted him. The reason they wouldn't promise Fields the starting gig.
Also......**** Russ. We all have seen enough of him.

Aiyuk is coming to the Steelers any day now, book it!
Dude is still making silly throws. Played all 17 games last year and threw for almost 4,000 yards on that atrocious Jets team......I don’t think Aaron makes 5 complete games.
Salute the nation
i bet he can still make the statue of liberty play look good.
Yes, I agree. Without any official statements from either side we have no idea how much of what is being written is actually true and how much is just **** being slung around for clicks. Are the Steelers really waiting on Rodgers to make a decision at some unknown time in the future before looking elsewhere or is that media bullshit? A story that Rodgers is sitting on his hands with no current offers isn't going to get much attention or fans checking back in for updates. The drama involving Rogers is simply artificially created to stir up more drama.

I have no idea why Tomlin likes the idea of getting a much older QB with a worse statistical season…and mobility than the guy he had last year (Wilson). Not saying either aren’t future HOFers but only one has had a history here and has shown the ability to “run away” when necessary without getting injured in the process.
Just go w Russ or draft a mobile QB who doesn’t suck. (My picks would be Rourke or Ewers depending on what Round pick we sacrifice for a guy who won’t play or look great playing in the offensive system we used for the past __ years).
We can hope for a miracle that we will have more than a PeeWee football selection of plays but history suggests that HOPE is not a strategy.
We've been getting bitten in the *** since 2010.Desperate teams take desperate measures. Focusing on this year instead of the next decade will bite us in the ***.
Sadly, I cannot disagree. We've been getting bitten in the *** since 2010.
I'm not sure of the "it would be fun to watch" part. 1st of all, anything related to Clown-lin is not "fun to watch." His "piss his pants" offense is hardly fun to watch, no will it be. It's in his dna to operate a cautious, "pee his pants" offense and that will never change, only get worse. It's ingrained in his DNA; he can't change it. It just keeps getting worse, the further he goes towards the playoffs the worse his cautious nature gets: run, run, attempted sideline pass, punt. Over and over again. There is nothing fun about it, nor will there be. And even with a new RB, doom is all you can expect: totally predictable running game, zero imagination. Horrid OL blocking, 4 defenders in the backfield all day. It's the Clown-lin way.I don't see Rodgers coming here with the understanding that it will be Smith and Tomlin calling the shots on offense. If the Steelers want him they will have to let him have the keys to the castle on offense. Rodgers ego would not accept anything less.
At this point I could see that scenario being a win win considering what we've been subjected to as fans for the last half decade plus on offense.
Get Rodgers, draft Jeanty or Hampton and try to boatrace everyone with the clan of misfits this offense would resemble.
What do we have to lose? In todays AFC North/ NFL you aren't winning playing conservative and trying to win on defense. We need all the firepower we can get. We got the WR, TE, We need a stud RB and a qb that gives us a punchers chance.
It would likely be a sh*tshow but man it would be fun to watch.
They want Aaron Rodgers because Tomlin and Co believe they are close to contending and they feel he gives them the best chance. Personally, I don't think the Steelers are anywhere close to contending regardless of who the QB is, so for this season at least, I'm not sure why they are chasing Aaron Rodgers either. Go with Mason, do the best you can and hopefully you find your franchise guy next draft.
