Why are the Steelers even considering Aaron Rogers?

I read from the get go Tomlin wanted him. The reason they wouldn't promise Fields the starting gig.

Also......**** Russ. We all have seen enough of him.
Well, we've seen him attached to Clown-lin as head coach, so it's not fair to evaluate that.

JJ McCarthy is the way MN is going. This is such BS. Who even cares what Rogers is gonna do?

Aiyuk is coming to the Steelers any day now, book it!

I heard that about Aaron Roger’s as well…………………………………………

Also heard Lloyd was knowledgeable ………..

Dang Fiji, long off-season so far.

I don’t think Aaron makes 5 complete games.

Dude is still making silly throws. Played all 17 games last year and threw for almost 4,000 yards on that atrocious Jets team......
Watch the escape from the pocket at 2:00 and the roll out at 2:20 for those that think he's a statue. First down run @ 3:05

The drama involving Rogers is simply artificially created to stir up more drama. How many legit fans even care about the QB position at this point? A washed up Rogers and a vastly overrated Clown-lin = nothing legit is happening with the Steelers. There is nothing substantial happening with Clown-lin running things, nothing. Sure, his ego will convince him otherwise (as will all the yes-men all around him), but reality is the vast majority of the fans know his act is tired and fake. And vastly worn out. Most real fans are now awaiting for the Clown-lin show to mercifully just end (and the Art II show as well). His choices of Najee, Pickett, Jones, Claypool, Bush Jr., Edmunds and Burns have caused irreparable damage.

Yes, I agree. Without any official statements from either side we have no idea how much of what is being written is actually true and how much is just **** being slung around for clicks. Are the Steelers really waiting on Rodgers to make a decision at some unknown time in the future before looking elsewhere or is that media bullshit? A story that Rodgers is sitting on his hands with no current offers isn't going to get much attention or fans checking back in for updates.

I have no idea why Tomlin likes the idea of getting a much older QB with a worse statistical season…and mobility than the guy he had last year (Wilson). Not saying either aren’t future HOFers but only one has had a history here and has shown the ability to “run away” when necessary without getting injured in the process.
Just go w Russ or draft a mobile QB who doesn’t suck. (My picks would be Rourke or Ewers depending on what Round pick we sacrifice for a guy who won’t play or look great playing in the offensive system we used for the past __ years).
We can hope for a miracle that we will have more than a PeeWee football selection of plays but history suggests that HOPE is not a strategy.

I hope the rumors about the Vikings telling Rodgers to pound sand are true, not for us to get him but to see If I was right during the draft when I said JJ would be the best of the QB's picked. I'm excited to see him get his shot...

Not sure I can buy into OldeRuss and his 1,400 some odd yards fewer and 12 less TDs is statistically better.

They had very similar seasons if you compare per game but alas OldeRuss got his a$$ whooped by a blocking sled and missed 6 games whereas old man Rodgers didn’t get his a$$ whooped by a blocking sled.

Pass on both

Look, they have 2 wrs who are gonna need to get the ball. I think Mason can do that, but there is no doubt, even at his age, Rodgers can. I don't like it, but that is a fact.

It seems to me there are only two possible results. It will actually go pretty well, and they will be a contender, or it will absolutely implode. If it is the latter, which I think is more likely, that should get us all closer to what we want, which is a change in the way this organization does things.

They want Aaron Rodgers because Tomlin and Co believe they are close to contending and they feel he gives them the best chance. Personally, I don't think the Steelers are anywhere close to contending regardless of who the QB is, so for this season at least, I'm not sure why they are chasing Aaron Rodgers either. Go with Mason, do the best you can and hopefully you find your franchise guy next draft.

Aaron Rodgers - the player is a HOF QB, tremendous career.
Aaron Rodgers - the person manages to alienate everyone around him more efficiently than Mike Vick getting some dogs from the animal shelter.

I don't see Rodgers coming here with the understanding that it will be Smith and Tomlin calling the shots on offense. If the Steelers want him they will have to let him have the keys to the castle on offense. Rodgers ego would not accept anything less.
At this point I could see that scenario being a win win considering what we've been subjected to as fans for the last half decade plus on offense.
Get Rodgers, draft Jeanty or Hampton and try to boatrace everyone with the clan of misfits this offense would resemble.
What do we have to lose? In todays AFC North/ NFL you aren't winning playing conservative and trying to win on defense. We need all the firepower we can get. We got the WR, TE, We need a stud RB and a qb that gives us a punchers chance.
It would likely be a sh*tshow but man it would be fun to watch.

Here we are on Thursday………….. twittering brown thumbs.

I'm not sure of the "it would be fun to watch" part. 1st of all, anything related to Clown-lin is not "fun to watch." His "piss his pants" offense is hardly fun to watch, no will it be. It's in his dna to operate a cautious, "pee his pants" offense and that will never change, only get worse. It's ingrained in his DNA; he can't change it. It just keeps getting worse, the further he goes towards the playoffs the worse his cautious nature gets: run, run, attempted sideline pass, punt. Over and over again. There is nothing fun about it, nor will there be. And even with a new RB, doom is all you can expect: totally predictable running game, zero imagination. Horrid OL blocking, 4 defenders in the backfield all day. It's the Clown-lin way.

I’d definitely agree they aren’t close to actually contending for what matters but I also see that Rodgers could very well be the key to a Tomlinship+1. If he gets them off the skid and brings that elusive WC round victory Art and Tomlin keep missing they will be dancing in the streets with all that winning just like it was a Lombardi.

Personally I’d rather just roll with Rudy and a draft pick for better or worse. But a possible WC victory with Rodgers followed by getting trounced in the divisional round wouldn’t make me put away my pitchfork.
