I expect big things from Ola this season

Same here. Tomlin is not known for giving young guys praise this early, so I'm thinking (hoping) he's going to be the break-out guy following in James Harrison's footsteps.

Now I'm not saying he's going to be Deebo, but I have a feeling this guy is still going to be a monster. Snell should be solid in every aspect of the game, but he may not see as much time this season. Or maybe he will?

Good coaching demands that if he is a better pass rusher than Bud that he gets on the field in obvious pass rush situations.

Can't be disapointed with Ola at all. Hurt most of last year but did get just enough playing time for the young rookie to see what he needed to do in the off season. He had to of worked out and got some stregnth and MUSCLE weight to endure the rigors of a long season. Good job to him and as far as the coach speaking praise, if it translates to the right decision of on-field time, then great.

Benny Snell is another young man making waves. He appeared to be the best pass protection blocker, for today anyways. It's these little daily things that get you second looks from those who decide your future and I think today Snell twisted a neck or two.

All good stuff as what we want from training camp. I know the coaches / trainers know way more than I do but I'd like to see a little more work out of Roethlisberger as it gets closer to season start. If that means he misses a day off or two than so be it but the work must be put in.

Salute the nation

If Ola is looking even better than he did last summer before he got injured, he almost has to move ahead of Chicklo. But, then again, I doubt Tomlin will do that. Hopefully, Ola will make it very difficult to keep Chick and maybe even Bud on the field ahead of him. Boy, would that be a nice surprise to come out of this pre-season.

I agree, but I can't see Tomlin sitting Bud(one of his first round picks who is being paid 9 million) for Ola.

Even if Ola can't be stopped in the pre-season, I fully expect Tomlin to stick with Bud as the starter.

Coach is gonna come find you. He declared Anthony Chickaslow a HOF LB on draft day and hasn't backed down since...

I believe the old Miami Hurricane knows his days are numbered - enter Ola. Ole, ole, ole, ole - Ola!!!

Sometimes you have to pay attention to what ISN'T said.

Back on Backers, Ola did very well.

No mention whatsoever of Bush. Hmmm.

I didn't read into it like that (basically because I couldn't read the entire article); but, now that you mention it---I'm still not worried LOL!!!

Dude, don’t lie. I said Chick should get his chances and split time with Jarvis. Jarvis sucked hard. Tomlin for whatever reason had a hard on for him.

I liked chick so much that I felt we should draft Watt in round one. So there you have it. He’s a back up, and I would not want a player picked in round one at his position if Chick was starting material.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in Ola right now. Are his plays coming against the starters? Or do they come against 2-4th string types.

Agree. Sitting Bud isn't going to happen unless he is just so bad that he has no other choice. Bud will start and play the vast majority of the snaps.

or our backs, sucked. I thought they were referring to OLB's only as those are most likely to be blocked by backs on the rush.

And we wonder why we haven't sniffed a ring in over a decade.

I think they mentioned him going against Hawkins, whatever level of competition you feel he is.

Usually the OLBs get a majority of the reps with Backs on Backers. I know some ILBs did get some reps, but I know the ILBs went up against the OL in a similar drill. It's all in the camp day breakdowns.

you might note that the article says Ola is going up against 2nd teamers in practice, not first string OL

Also says Conner and Samuels struggled in pass pro.

What it DOESN'T say (or I didn't see) is how Bud did in backs on backers.

looking through some other stuff, looks like Bud got beat by Trey Edmunds...twice.....very much below "not good"

Got beat by Villanueva once and beat him once.

This was on Sunday.

oh, kazora said Bush got beat twice, too, but I forget by who. I don't think it was a starter.
