2015 Pirates thread

Finally the Cards are slumping, 2 losses today. Bucs are up 6-0 on the Brewcrew. God I would love to win the Central.

They still have three games with the Cardinals. Despite the struggles with the Brewers, they're still in good shape.

What has killed them more than anything, for the second consecutive season, was a terrible start to the season. With just an average April, they would have won the division last season and would be leading it now.

They need to find a way to start better.

These pirates really have a shot to be special... They really haven't put it all together yet but still have the second best record in all of MLB.... most their hitters have been inconsistent, but they are still in the top half of offensive production. their Defense has been subpar, but they have a ton of defensive playmakers, and their Pitching has gone from dominant to shaky in different areas at different times this season... a few things click and they become the team to beat. and frankly I think they or the cards are the only two teams that can slow down the Toronto offensive juggernaut from the AL...

Wish I was in Pittsburgh today. Use to love going to doubleheaders.

Missed opportunity in game 2 yesterday. Wasted a good pitching performance with a crappy lineup. One of the guys on the pregame show said "I didn't know you could bat 3 pitchers in a row" when announcing the bottom of the order as Rodriguez, Florimon and Happ.

Yep, I understand giving guys rest and I wholeheartedly support that, but coming off a day off and playing the one team that can catch you in the standings going balls to the wall should have been the norm... not playing two of the worst offensive players on your bench...

Game is on National TV tonight. Buccos have fared well on prime time national telecasts of late.

When you get that close to the division, it is pretty inexcusable to put out such a terrible lineup.

You know what though, how great they have it when you look at that second line up. The first six, no one would have a problem with on another team. How sick is it, that Hurdle can put out a line up like that on a double header, and have only one player start both games. That bench is freaking deep like no one else in baseball.

Yep, but in a game where every extra batter potentially brings the amazing starter one fraction of an inning closer to being pulled, you have to play the best you have... letting him have a complete game due to batting incompetence is inexcusable.

Untill you get a game like LA last night. 58 different players, 24 different pitchers in a game. WOW

As good a season the.pirates are having, how much do you want to bet it will end in a one game playoff loss just like last year. I like our chances in a 5 or 7 game series but not in a 1 game elimination. Same thing happened last year.

I bet 50/50

That's bullshit. I never understood why it is ok break up a double play when you are not sliding towards the base.

Coughlin is the guy that took Buster Pousey out, which initiated the Pousey rule...

It was a very late, high slide...

I would say Kangs absence could be more of a mental hurdle (no pun intended), than a physical one for the Pirates to overcome...they have an abundance of decent infielders, but this kid was a fan as well as a clubhouse favorite.

Look forward to the series in Chicago.

And frankly it isnt legal no matter what baseball purist say... if the intent is to break up the double play and not just to get to base safely, it is interference...period. The fact that umpires wont call it as such because they are asshats who dont like change or that every team does it doesnt make the unwritten code that as long as you touch the base you are ok doing that any more legal than intentionally trying to injure a guy by throwing at his head... which the Pirates absolutely should do. Coughlin is always doing that... he needs a lession taught about respecting the career of others.

No, that was another garbage-heap nobody, named Kirk Cousins. Coughlan was, however, in the on-deck circle when Cousins injured Posey.

See yinz tonight at Dodger Stadium. GreinKe
