As brittle as the Pen are it won't take much to knock them all out

There used to be a joke back in the day that went: I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.

Does goon hockey work? Only to take out star players. If you follow other leagues a lot of goon teams don't have the fundamentals. The Wheeling Nailers are pretty known for being a goon team. They went downhill this season

They'll be alright. They have pretty good depth compared to Johnston and Bylsma teams. I think the D men are upgrades over Maatta. Shultz is better than Letang on the PP
 
I hate to say it, but I think we'll miss Lovejoy, he wasn't flashy, but he didn't give up all the panic turnovers in our own zone like the new kids are doing

Agreed. Lovejoy wasn't fast, but under Sullivans system he was very underrated, and in all honesty he was solid. I miss him. He was a big difference maker. His absence does show. I do think Cole does kinda play similar, but not as solid in taking away passing lanes. Lovejoy knew how to take away the passing lanes and was a scoring threat coming up on shots as well
 
2-0 Pens. They will be on the PP at the start of the 2nd. Defense tightened up after a couple breakaway opportunities by Edmonton. Pens had a couple breakaway chances too. So not bad. Pens are the better skating team. Edmonton is physical but can be sneaky. McDavid is unreal
 
2-1 Pens still up. ****. Do not let 'em in it
 
Pens win 3-2 in a shootout. Gotta give MAF some credit. He has elevated his play and stuffed McDavid on two 1 on 1 breakaways.
-Defensive play has me worried atm
-PP---just shoot. Too much tic tac toe **** turns to turnovers
-Kessel---back on the score sheet with the game winner
 
When they try and get too pretty the power play turns to crap. Just get some bodies around the net and SHOOT the damn puck. I missed seeing this game and of course they win again. ..next
 
From my recliner...

1. it looked like the Oilers were the better team overall and deserved the win more than the good guys..
2. Marc Andre Fluery looked liked The Flower from yester-year last night! Incredible saves, especially late in the contest and in OT...unreal play on the McDavid break-way, were he played it more like a defensemen than a goalie..
3. Connor McDavid was by far the best player on the ice last night.....sorry Sid..
4. This team needs to shore up its back end to make another serious run
5. Very entertaining game for sure

I agree. Crosby is back to his "pass at all costs unless there is a really bad shot you can take" and "a bad pass is better than no pass" self. It gets old.

I get it. He is the man. Best player in the world blah blah. That **** is gonna cost the Pens big at some point.

The power play was frustrating to watch last night. Sheary and Guentzel have been forcing the puck to Sid as well. Sheary had chances to shoot but looks for Sid instead
 
I think the Pens lose tonight. Late game back to back. The team looked a bit tired last night. I think the fatigue shows tonight. Hope I'm wrong
 
Pens look good on rushes but horrible on defense. Murray is back to his good form again. Making great saves
 
Still 0-0 end of the 1st. May not finish this game tonight myself. Hate late puck drops. I feel for yinz east coasters now
 
Pens should be kicking ***. Playing a team coming off food poisoning

As long as the Pens get in. They should be healthy come playoff time. Hagelin was in a walking boot yesterdays game. Blocked a puck against Winnipeg that hit his ankle. He changes the speed/stretch passing game on his line

They need Rust and Letang would pair well with Hainsey I think. Rowney should have a spot on this roster come playoff time too. Big bodied dude and he's been making a strong drive towards the net lately
 
Really have to hand it to these guys for the way they have battled and winning these games on the road with all the injuries.

Hopefully Haglin makes it back in time for the first round. Need everyone healthy to make another run at the cup.

They looked really good in Vancouver, I was expecting a tired team. Hope they get the W tonight. Hate the late puck drop. 9:00pm est for ya east coasters. 7:00 pm mtn here
