Not sure it is all that sad. That hitting is going to be around for a number of years. The pitching is behind because it is in the minors.
I believe Taillon could be up by this weekend. If they remain patient, Taillon might be the only one up before September.
Next year Meadows, Bell, Glasnow and Kuhl will be up in June. They are being set-up by mid-year 2017 to be
one of the best teams in baseball with at least a 6 year run at a championship. The plan could be to have Taillon, Glasnow and Kuhl
at the top of your rotation for 6/7 years, moving Marte to center, Polonco to left and Meadows slipping into right, Bell at first with two coveted
trade chips in McCutchen and Cole to bring in the finishing touches on a Championship team.
The Pirate ship is sinking faster than the titanic but now all of the homers will start blaming injuries. This ship was taking on lots of water long before I hurt bug set in. This team is done.
18 runs in his last 11 innings.Locke blows. I've seen t-ball stands that were better pitchers.
If you refuse to take a stab at acquiring a veteran and rely on farm team to bolster your roster you will continually be rebuilding. That is pirates.
Time to take a look at Glasnow and Kuhl if there is any chance of salvaging the season.
There's the difference between the Pirates and Penguins. With a strong group of players in place, the Pens GM always was looking to add talent to compete for a championship. Sure it didn't always work out, but three Stanley Cup appearances and two titles since 2008 is darn good. Pirates had the chances to make the moves to try to put this team over the top and didn't. Sure they still have a chance to turn it around and succeed in the future, but those were missed opportunities.
Niese has now given up more homers than Walker has hit. No matter how some of you die hards try to spin it, that was a horrible trade.
