2016 Pirates thread

I guess the greater point is, yes Niese sucks, but it was a reasonable gambit and Frese was a nice gap piece. Who are you going to bench for Walker to play? If Cutch had a Cutch type season, nobody remembers Walker.

Good point. Let's hope his second half is like the last week of his first half.

I think coming out of the All Star weekend which he was not involved in will keep the fire burning and he will be on an absolute tear the next few months.

Cole pitching Saturday. Rumor is Pirates want to move either Locke or Niese and promote Glasnow.

But it's also kinda like saying that the Steelers were fine without Le'veon Bell last season. Yeah, the offense was pretty good without him in the lineup, but it would have been that much better with him.

Walker seems to be on the downside of his prime and is settling in as about a 2.5 WAR guy. This year he might be a 1.4 WAR guy. Freese is having a great season as a fill in/part time guy. He'll end up being around 2-2.5WAR for the season. We got him for free(basically 3m bucks)

Kang was a 4 WAR guy last year. He's having a similar year this year. Aside from the whole raping thing, he's a stud. I think Walker is a great guy and if we didn't have suitable replacements he would be the type of guy that should be a pirate for life. But his glove is basically replacement level at this point and if he's not hitting he's pretty much a notch above a replacement level guy.

Walker with a 3 run blast and Niese demoted to bill pen and also ragged on by GM. Yep, ****** trade and you can't tell me otherwise.

Archer would be a terrific acquisition, but the Pirates would probably have to part with one of their elite prospects to make it happen.

The Rays would definitely want either Bell, Meadows or Glasnow in return.

Melancon screwed 2 rookie pitchers that had a great outing and were inline for the win.

That move would make zero sense. I'd be fine if the Pirates didn't make any moves or moved one of their veteran pitchers (Neise or Locke).

All I know is if they really want to try to salvage their season they should find more playing time from Adam Frazier and call up Josh Bell asap.

Pirates won't do it, but McCutchen for Archer wouldn't be a bad deal. Archer has 4 years of control, so a rotation with
Cole, Archer, Taillon, Glasnow for a few years wouldn't be bad. Marte would move to center, Polanco in left and you
could bring up Bell for right field for now. When Meadows is ready Bell moves to first.

Agreed....and call up as many pitchers as it takes to never have Locke or Niese start another game. I'll take Kuhl and Brault over those two any day of the week. At least there is potential there.

If we can manage to get that GC45 every night along with Cutch smacking the ball around we might be onto something.

yeah, it would be a really good deal. plus Cutch needs to gtfo of center field anyways, Marte should be starting there.

Adam Frazier is like Alex Pressley with a bit more eye and a lot less pop. He's a major leaguer, but a util guy.

It's a crying shame that Cole has a 6-6 record with a 2.75 ERA. Give the guy a little help geez.
