2017 Free Agent rumors and news

It isn't all about the money usually means it's about 90% about the money, and 10% about please God don't let that be the Browns on the phone.

It's not about trying to get another while Ben's window is still open either, it seems it is all about waiting until Brady's closes...until then we just keep slipping into the playoffs and praying someone else beats the Pats.

These are the rules of the Steelers free agency strategy.

Maybe they have faith Maktavish to be Williams back up, and maybe they move up for Peppers to be the long term WAM, with Shazier and Peppers you could run as much stupid zone as Butler likes to and if then can add Tim Williams or Anderson in the 2nd and then in the 3rd add a cb and a DT then you just wait and maybe Revis tells his agent he will play for the min nd Colbert \2 Tomlin say what do we have to lose, if he beats out William we move Will to FS in the nickel and dime.

I think you are the only one pimping peppers in the 1st round in all the board. Keep trying though

dammit, this is the RB guy I wanted

49ers agree to terms with Tim Hightower

Free agent running back Tim Hightower has agreed to terms with the 49ers, G.M. John Lynch announced on Twitter.

Hightower’s once-promising NFL career looked like it had been totally derailed as a result of a torn ACL he suffered during the 2011 season. That knee injury, as well as a post-surgery infection, led him to spend the next three years out of the NFL.But in 2015 Hightower finally got back into the league with the Saints, and in 2016 he bounced back in a big way, with 133 carries for 548 yards, plus 22 catches for 200 yards.

Packers claim Ego Ferguson off waivers

ESPN.com reports that Ferguson has been claimed off of waivers by the Packers and will have an opportunity to make the team as a defensive lineman over the next few months.

Ferguson’s three years with the Bears were marred by injuries as he missed all of last season with a shoulder injury and 12 games of the 2015 season with a knee injury. The team also shifted defenses from a 4-3 when Ferguson was drafted to a 3-4 under coordinator Vic Fangio and the limited time on the field couldn’t have helped his chances of showing he was worth keeping around for a fourth season.

The Packers also play a 3-4 base defense and Ferguson will compete for a spot in the rotation

Tony Romo plans to retire from football, go into broadcasting

Report: Tony Romo’s NFL career is coming to an end.

Romo has decided to retire from the NFL and enter broadcasting, ESPN reports.

There have been widespread reports that Romo has lucrative offers to work in TV and could replace Phil Simms as the No. 1 analyst on CBS. Those offers have apparently led Romo to conclude that it’s time for him to walk away from playing and move into his next career.

Tony Romo has interest from three TV networks already

Tony Romo may be retiring, but he’s about to become a sought-after free agent again.

With this morning’s news that the Cowboys quarterback is leaving the game to focus on a television career, the next wave of speculation will be where that career will continue.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Romo has already received interest from at least three networks — CBS, FOX, and NBC.

The report also suggests that Romo could make a decision on his next job as early as today.

Tony Romo - QB - Free Agent

Ex-Cowboys QB Tony Romo says he's "99 percent" retired, but admitted he would "never say never" to returning.

"Do I envision coming back and playing football?," Romo asked rhetorically. "Absolutely not. I'm committed to CBS." Romo also acknowledged teams will call him this season

Romo is committed to cbs now. Any teams interested in him as a free agent, I think should not bother. Romo would look great in the black & gold though

If Ben hurts a knee, we better call him

I WANT!

Jets may still move Eric Decker before season

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta believes the Jets may still move on from Eric Decker before the season.

"Don't be surprised if the veteran wide receiver isn't on the roster this season," writes Mehta. Decker isn't healthy yet following hip and shoulder surgeries, so the Jets can't really move on from him now unless it's via release with a failed physical.

GM Mike Maccagnan would surely want to see if he can get anything for Decker on the trade market before releasing him. The Jets are in full-blown tear-it-down rebuild mode, so keeping a (likely) unhappy Decker around for it doesn't make much sense at his salary. If healthy, Decker is still a contributor.
