Jack Johnson showed a little grit with some nice hits. Everyone was in good position, came back on D and really limited TOR chances. They got a few good scoring chances, but were kept in check. I really thought the Pens were going to get lit up, but they put on a clinic to beat the big bad boys in Blue.

Shutting out Toronto with 38 saves was a big comeback game for Murray. He was aggressive and some of the saves were pretty athletic. I hope this is a trend.
This week is going to cut into my sleep. Tuesday and Thursday at 9PM and Saturday at 10PM. If what we saw with the Leaf's continues, the trip should be a sweep. I know I'm dreaming with their usual October play but this team is deep.

When this team "wants to" and is focused on playing their game, with a little fundamental hockey mixed in....
They can beat any team ....on any rink in the league.

I must say Letang is playing 10 times better than last year so far. I hope that stays. He was becoming a major liability.
I wonder if he was still in recovery mode or just hit the wall early after attempting to come back from injury.
He came back too soon and was never 100%
These athletes think because they can play they should play...
When Tanger got surgery the timeframe put him coming back around Christmas or maybe late November... instead he started the season as if he was fine... stating he heals fast....
Well he wasn’t ready... he clearly lost a step and overthought way too much on the ice.... given a full offseason to get healthy and train he looks faster and less tentative...
Maybe if he just followed the regular timetable for getting healthy and rehabbing it back into shape, he comes back and plays like he is now in the second half last season ....
The pens seem to either go uber conservative and hold guys out way too long or let them rush back way too early .... its almost like what the player wants to do takes priority over the general medical opinions

This is why the NHL is a short sighted second tier league... given a weekend where no competition for the sports dollar or attention exists in Pittsburgh... they also don’t schedule anything here...
The nfl bye week is a huge bonus to competing sports entertainment leagues... and the NHL flubbed it

This was the first Saturday in October that the Pens haven't played on in 17 years
Seeing many teams with 8/9 games already played and we are at 6. Guessing we'll have more than a few back to backs in the near future to catch up. Hope they took advantage of the time off and rested up
