2019-20 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Well the gap between Murray and Jarry widened a bit more tonight.

I would ride the Jarry train till the wheels fell off at this point and hope Murray comes around for the playoff run.

I really wasn't looking forward to the game tonight with all the injuries and the results from Saturday. They played an absolute solid game. A shutout, too? I really have nothing else. That ranks right up there with the 8-6 win as my fav games of the season, so far.

I am sick, so I slept through the game, but I am glad to read about it here.

Thinking they play Jarry on Friday and give MM a shot on Saturday against the cellar dwelling Red Wings. Don't want MM to get too rusty or burn out Jarry. If MM falters, bring in Jarry and maybe consider calling up deSmith afterwards. I'm not sure but just looking at MM, he doesn't look healthy. Like he hasn't slept in about 3 months.

Interesting how the Pens season is practically mirroring the Steelers.

The injury bug moved to Pittsburgh for sure

Kessel visiting for the first time

Trotman sent down to WBS. Schultz and Rust back. Jarry in the net.

Let's Go Pens !

Pens came out like a house on fire for about 4 minutes, now generally look disinterested.

Through two, score still 0-0, although I don’t know how. Coyotes with several good chances and the Pens hit the post 2-3 times during a 5 on 3. Coyotes are buzzing and forcing the Pens into mistakes and turnovers. Pens are basically one and done in the offensive zone. Both of those things have to change if the Pens are gonna take any points out of this.

Geno for the score. He has had a lousy stick all night, but it was hot right there.

Now, the real story is Jarry. He is amazing.

Great game by Jarry. Back to back shutouts. Defense played well. I'm not sure you put Murray back in tomorrow. Jarry is hot right now. Murray gives up 4 goals tonight.

You start Murray. Jarry may come in to help.

**** two shutouts in a row. The boys are playing good. Jarry 6 periods zero goals. Hell yes!

Great 3rd period game opened up and Geno got a goal. Jarry made it stand up. Kid is on a hell of a run. Ride the hot hand.

They definitely rode the edge of the cliff tonight. Great win but they need to get better in the face-off circle and don't fritter away a 5 on 3 when you get it. Simon needs to find another place to play. Maybe we can get something for him and he can frustrate fans in another venue or do his drawrings.

Not sure about the defense. They were tripping over themselves at times trying to figure out who was gonna make the mistake that led to a goal. I put this one is all on Jarry. He stole a game, something I can’t remember Murray doing.

It maybe too late to help. Detroit is not playing well right now. I'd hate to lose 2 points to a bad team just to start Murray. Something isn't right with him right now.

Thinking the same. After Jarry has back to back shut outs I wouldn't take the chance on Murray giving up a bunch of goals and god forbid they lose the game.

That will only make things worse if it is a confidence problem and sure won't help him either is he is injured.

Like I said the other night ride Jarry for all he is worth right now.

They made some mistakes but I thought they did a decent job keeping most pucks on the boards. I've seen them play much worse. Jarry did stand on his head a few times but overall they didn't play that bad.

Will the real Matt Murray please stand up.

Even though Jarry is playing lights out. I think we'll see Murray tonight. Many have said that, Murray is at his best when he is being pushed. Well, Jarry certainly is pushing him. I'd love to see Murray win this one ! Having a strong goaltender tandem carries an injury riddled team a long way.

I really hope it gets Murray going, but he's had a few years to get going already. I have absolutely no idea what happened, I just know 3,4,5+ goals in games won't cut it. It certainly won't cut it in the playoffs. I hope his next start the magic starts to come back.

The only thing that keeps me thinking Murray will rebound, is that he is only 25. He'll be 26 in May. Somewhere around 26-27 seems to be where many goaltenders settle into consistency. I'm nervous about what that is going to look like for him. Both he and Jarry are RFA. There are going to be decisions.

I play the hot hand. I know Jarry played last night but it isn't like he's a 30 year old goalie. He's still a kid and can handle it. Whatever is ailing Murray hasn't been corrected in the past few days he's been off.

Ahhh scratch my back with a hacksaw, Malkin makes it 3-1. 1 goal shy of 400

Was 4-1 now it's 4-3. I knew we shouldn't have played Murray tonight.
