Adam Smith's view that a trade deficit of no import ignores what Smith actually said. What Smith actually said in "Wealth of Nations" [SUP]1[/SUP] was as follows:
"A trade which is forced by means of bounties and monopolies may be and commonly is disadvantageous to the country in whose favour it is meant to be established, as I shall endeavour to show hereafter. But that trade which, without force or constraint, is naturally and regularly carried on between any two places is always advantageous, though not always equally so, to both."
The former situation describes trade with China to a tee. But of course Ocasio-Sanchez, I would wager, never read "Wealth of Nations."
Why? Because she's brown? No, because she's too stupid to understand it.
Oh, and no coincidence, elfie, that your favorite idiot candidate went to ...
BROWN!!
Brown - the junior college of decent universities. Come here, when the good schools don't want you.
[SUP]1[/SUP] So, elfie, in keeping with your theory, "Shut the **** up unless you know what you're talking about ..." - have you read "Wealth of Nations"??
