Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez interview

It's not just white Republicans, don't forget, any black person who doesn't tow the leftist line is automatically an Uncle Tom in Elfieland.

It's not even Republicans period. Even a Liberal of any race who slips up one time and says anything that doesn't tow the Progressive/Socialist line is instantly ostracized and destroyed. Is it any wonder they are scaring their own people off in addition to breeding contempt in the Conservative ranks.

...in addition to breeding contempt in the Conservative ranks.

After nearly two years of blindly following and supporting the unhinged lunatic in the WH, do you think anyone gives two ***** about what conservatives think anymore? That boat sailed a long time ago, back when conservatives were still conservatives. They've become the cult of Trump and should be treated as such. With derision and contempt.

I don't know if anyone cares what conservatives think anymore, but I know no one cares what liberals think.

Please.

The DNC has been communist in name only since the early 80s. Remember when the Swimmer asked the Russians to intervene to stop Reagan from being elected? You clowns on the left loved the Russians when they were the Soviets. You guys have been diametrically opposed to liberty and the Constitution for a long time and as such have hated conservatives.

So it would be fair to point out that you opining about somebody else's comments about the book would lack any informational support, no? How in the world would you be able to state that an observation about the book is valid, or insightful, or flat-out stupid when you have not read the book?

You mentioned the book.

You have not read it.

Maxine Waters has been elected to Congress 14 times.

Is that because she is smart?

Look at the white knight ...

So let's see if I have this straight. White Republican female - stupid, idiot, moron, retard, no problem. Fire away.

Brown Democrat female - "Wow, listened to her and she is dumb." AHHH, SLANDER!!

That about it??

I read an analysis of Smith and Wealth of Nations written by a world class economics professor from Oxford and compared it to her statements.

Do you really think I was just going to blindly agree with her?

WAR!

Dem party establishment leaders revolt against Bernie Bots!

Congressional Black Caucus chair blasts proposed superdelegate changes

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus blasted proposed changes to Democratic "superdelegate" rules that would limit their ability to vote on the first ballot for the party's presidential nominees.

In a letter to Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez dated Monday, Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond wrote on behalf of "many" of his colleagues in the caucus to urge him to withdraw support of the changes to be voted on at the party's meeting at the end of the month.

The proposed plan -- known as the "third way plus" option -- does not allow superdelegates to vote at the convention for the presidential nominee on the first ballot unless a candidate has been certified to have earned a majority of the entire convention through pledged delegates only. This ensures superdelegates could not change the outcome of the nomination process on the first ballot, which detractors of the plan point out has never happened since they were created in the 1980s.

During the 2016 nomination process, superdelegates -- who made up about 15% of all delegates at the convention -- came under intense criticism by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders. They argued that Hillary Clinton's early superdelegate support bolstered her position during the primaries, in which she beat the Vermont senator for the Democratic nomination.

I suspect that you give Ocasio Cortez vastly more leeway than a conservative female. No, I don't suspect that to be the case, I am convinced that is the case.

What would you say about a conservative female who said that unemployment was low only because "people are working two jobs"? Or one who commented on the "occupation of Palestine" (not a nation), then could not explain what she meant, and then said, "I'm not an expert in geopolitics"? Or one who stated that the defense budget had "increased by $700 billion and they did not even ask for that," while obviously confusing the ENTIRE defense budget for 2018 with the increase of 8.6%, a significant portion of which consists of a pay raise for the troops?

I believe you would have visceral criticisms of such statements, and would go so far as to opine that the woman making them was ... well, stupid.

I was here when Palin was running for VP. I promise you she was given no leeway. She was blasted by the socialists on here.

BTW they love McCain now but when he was running against Obama they said horrible things about him.

This is comical to me :)

Ocasio-Cortez claims have fact-checkers working overtime

New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has excited the liberal base with her media blitz touting Medicare-for-all, the elimination of ICE and more.

But the Democrat's rapid-fire claims about the state of the economy and other issues have fact-checkers scrambling to provide a reality check.

The Washington Post was the latest to put her myriad claims under the microscope.

The newspaper took issue, for instance, with her claim that unemployment is low “because everyone has two jobs.” The Post shot this down, noting the number of people working two jobs is down from the recession -- and has remained steady at around 5 percent in recent years.

Other claims it summarily dismissed include a May 30 interview statement that ICE is “required to fill 34,000 beds with detainees every single night.” Both the Post and Politifact note that this is an “urban legend” and that ICE was only required to maintain that many beds -- not fill them.

Additionally, the Post called her out for saying a recent study found Medicare-for-all would cut health expenditures, when it found the plan would raise government expenditures by $32.6 trillion over 10 years. A separate fact check by The Associated Press aimed at this claim, made by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., notes it only cuts spending if hospitals accept Medicare-based payments of 40 percent less for those who have private insurance.

Some claims didn’t warrant a check, including one appearance on CNN where she asked, “Why aren’t we incorporating the cost of all the funeral expenses of those who died because they can’t afford access to health care?”

“Huh?” was the only response from the Post’s fact-checkers.

Ocasio-Cortez has been on the interview circuit ever since her shock primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley, D-N.Y. But the 28-year-old swiftly encountered some difficulties, starting with her interview with PBS’ “Firing Line,” in which she went in hot on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and talked about the “occupation of Palestine.” Asked to “expand” on her thoughts, she said, “I am not the expert at geopolitics on this issue.”

Less than two weeks later, in an appearance on “The Daily Show,” the candidate made a number of questionable statements on how she would pay for her big spending agenda.

"Just last year we gave the military a $700 billion dollar budget increase, which they didn’t even ask for,” she said. “They were like, ‘we don’t want another fighter jet. Don’t give us another nuclear bomb.’ They didn’t even ask for it. And we gave it to them."

This caught the eye of Politfact, which gave her a “false” rating, noting that the $700 billion tag was the total defense budget for 2018, not the increase, and that the amount was “more than the Defense Department settled in negotiations for Trump’s budget request ($668 billion), but exactly what they requested in their annual wishlist to Congress.”

Ocasio-Cortez has been pushing back against the critics. Last week, she appeared to make fun of fact-checkers criticizing her for what she called a “small slip on a budgetary figure during [an] extemporaneous interview.”

“This girl is SO uninformed! She needs to stay quiet until she knows everything!” she tweeted, while claiming they shrugged off GOP Sen. James Inhofe’s 2015 decision to bring a snowball to the Senate floor in a debate about climate change -- a move that was mocked by a number of outlets at the time, including The Washington Post.

The fact that she is a Democrat leaves me so resoundingly hopeful for our Conservative future.

That's just such bullshit Tibs. There are plenty of conservatives who don't like Trump and you know it. This is just you trying to impugn all conservatives because you see your opportunity...Trump is controversial so you want to link every conservative and Republican to him...

This is the liberalism of today...no room for rational debate of ideas. No recognition that maybe there are different ways of achieving the same goals and maybe your way isn't always 100% the best way. Just CONSERVATIVE=TRUMP=BAD.

So simplistic and I thought you were better than that.

Tibs: pls define liberalism as it applies to you and your views on politics.

It's the dumbed down philosophy of the modern day leftist that requires no work or actual thought. It's the lazy way out. More and more people on the left are taking it because it feels good to them apparently. If not thinking any more feels good, then I say whatever floats your boat. Probably has something to do with their philosophy that hard work is for people with White Privilege and a racist concept.

Democrats are pretty good at sticking together around their candidates and they assume Republicans do the same, which we don't. Frankly I think we could and should do a better job of it though.

I don't stick by anyone with blind party loyalty. Never have.

But let's face it....EVERYONE is flawed. Seriously. Can you name a major political figure who isn't? I used to really care about having a good, decent person in office, but these days it's really just a matter of who's going to **** up the country the least.

I have in the past voted for Democrats for state and local offices. However, my part of the state is highly Democrat but not highly Liberal. These days I don't think I would vote for a Democrat for anything because their party has moved too far Left and I think many Democrats feel the same way given the increasing number of Republicans elected here.

Exactly.

He's not. Maybe he used to be. But the Tibs of old is gone and lost. IF he was ever rational, capable of civil debate and critical thought, that is but a memory.

He's morphed into a caricature now, a little child who stomps up and down, crying and screaming: "Trump and Russia! Racists!"

I'm pretty much the same. I vote on the issues and most of the Dems here are big tax and spenders. But nor could I vote for Trump. Just couldn't bring myself to do it.

While I still can't stand him as a human being, I am happy with some of what the administration has done, happy with his Supreme Court nominees, don't want this tax plan overturned, don't want Obamacare put back into place. So I'll probably have no choice but to vote for him.

Although I'm still not convinced he'll run again. I do believe he's in a mental health decline.

Seems like rational debate with any liberal is pretty much impossible anymore. Which is why I don't even engage people except for here. I've seen numerous formerly rational (if somewhat misguided) people become totally unhinged.

hahahahahahahahaha

Will the Press attack her just like the Prez?

Ocasio-Cortez bans press from town hall

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Monday that stops on her “listening tour” throughout the district, like the one held a day earlier in Corona, are “intended for lively, compassionate discourse with a diversity of viewpoints.”

According to the Democratic nominee in the 14th Congressional District, she and the dozens of area residents who attended the event “talked about race, immigration, healthcare, disability rights and housing.”

But unless you were in the room on Sunday, you won’t know what specific community problems were mentioned or how Ocasio-Cortez planned to address them once she is sworn in.

That’s because her campaign banned members of the media from attending the event, which was otherwise open to the public.

She's starting to realize that most of the country thinks she's a blithering idiot. She doesn't want her stupidity to be recorded and replayed for comedy purposes.
