No one said Russia doesn't meddle in our elections or it isn't a problem. The problem is the left immediate reaction to say Trump colluding. Russians have been meddling for decades. The problem I have with the left is every issue that has been ongoing for the last decade (Russian meddling. Kids separated at the border) is now the biggest issues ever and all Trump's fault. So for the benefit of those who continue to claim that the Russia investigation is a great big witch hunt with nothing to show for its efforts, let’s remind ourselves of what it has produced to date:

• Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, is currently in jail awaiting trial on multiple charges relating to his relationships with a Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin and the former leader of Ukraine, widely considered a Putin puppet.
• Trump’s deputy campaign chairman, Rick Gates, pled guilty to lying to the FBI and conspiracy to defraud the United States, and is now cooperating with Mueller.
• Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials, and is now cooperating with Mueller.
• A Trump foreign policy adviser, George Papadopoulos, pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with various Kremlin-connected figures and is now cooperating with Mueller.
• Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian associate of Manafort’s, was indicted on obstruction of justice charges.
• Richard Pinedo pled guilty to identity fraud for selling stolen identities to Russians connected to the Mueller probe.
• Alex Van Der Zwaan, a Dutch banker and son-in-law of a Russian oligarch, pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his work with Manafort and Gates, and was jailed briefly and then deported.
• Thirteen individuals and three companies were indicted for their participation in a Russian scheme to conduct “information warfare” during the 2016 election in order to push voters away from Hillary Clinton and toward Donald Trump, as well as undermining trust in the electoral system more generally.
• And now, eleven Russian military officials have been indicted for hacking into the email systems of the Democratic National Committee and various people connected to Hillary Clinton, including her campaign chairman, then disseminating the materials in carefully timed releases meant to maximize the political damage to Clinton. Two Russian officials have been also been indicted for hacking into the systems of state election agencies.

And that’s just so far. If the Mueller probe is moving toward a conclusion, it’s hard to believe there won’t be more indictments to come.

We still don’t have a complete answer to how deep the cooperation between Russia and the Trump campaign went, though we have a great deal of evidence already that can support the charge that collusion did indeed occur. But whatever your perspective on that evidence — the meetings between Trump officials and Russians intended to obtain dirt on Clinton, the dozens of contacts with Russians that for some strange reason Trump officials were so keen to lie about in order to conceal — one thing that no one can plausibly say is that this is all just a witch hunt, there’s no there there, and the investigation should simply be shut down.

Yet, it is quite easy to say that this was done to help, assist, boost Trump and help him to the White House. But, why do we not hear of any hacking of the GOP? or anyone in association with Trump? We've seen that the Russians absolutely did take advantage of the ignorance of the DNC members in relation to IT, and exploit that as much as they could.

Could it be possible that Russia was doing their due diligence on the DNC, Hildebeast, etc so as to know how to approach/attack Granny if she were to be the POTUS, as was the foregone conclusion prior to Trump entering the discussion?

If you think this was not even remotely possible, then you're quite obviously unable to critically think and are a lifelong, staunch Dem for worse or worst.

The Russians have a strong track record of interfering in elections, a well known fact, and two, they've never come close to doing anything on this level in the United States as what they undertook in the 2016 US Presidential election. Not in breadth, not in scope, not regarding the number of contacts and communication with a particular US campaign team. America has never been attacked in this manner during a Presidential election. The level of sophistication of the attacks, using hacking tools, back channels, cyber currency et al. We now know there are direct and clear ties to the Russian military secret service. All the while the elected President has hemmed and hawed the whole way, sending out obtuse and purposefully misleading information and point blank lies about what happened. Why do you think he's done so? What reasons would he have to do so? I don't know, you tell me. Or we can wait for Mueller to explain it in plain English.

So amazing how the special prosecution has been rife with an incredible amount of leaking, and never one hint of a suggestion that Flynn, et al. face anything remotely related to Russia or the election. Finally, Tibs, given that you advise we wait, let the process play out - I generally agree, but am disturbed at the use of the FBI and DOJ for political ends, but whatever - why are you so adamant that Trump somehow conspired or colluded with the Russians as to the election?
