And it Begins:Special Prosecutor To Investigate Trump And Russia

Status
Not open for further replies.
Not quite the case.

If the Mueller investigation was centered on Russian agencies interfering with the election - and then uncovered a Trump connection to the attacks - I'd have no problem with it.

But this investigation was founded on Trump collusion with the Russians - and they're finding that Russians did interfere. So yeah, they're serving indictments, but so far none have implicated Trump collusion.

It's clear it's a so-called witch Hunt because the stated goal is to find Trump guilty of collusion when the real goal should be going after Russia for their interference.

Very well-said, BAS.

If there's an article out there that sets a decent baseline regarding Russia & Trump, it's this one.

If this is a ‘witch hunt,’ it sure is finding a lot of witches

The fact this has been treated as anything less than a profound national emergency — and that one of our two parties has argued again and again that it’s no big deal — is something that should appall anyone who has even the slightest concern for U.S. national security.

So the hacking didn’t come, as Trump has suggested multiple times, from China, some other country, or a 400-pound guy sitting on his bed. And throughout, Trump has accepted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ridiculous denials at face value, as though Putin would never lie to him (“I said, ‘Did you do it?’ And he said, ‘No, I did not. Absolutely not.’ I then asked him a second time in a totally different way. He said absolutely not”).

Trump will be meeting Putin again on Monday — in private, with no staff allowed except translators. Here’s what he said about the topic of Russia’s involvement in our election at his press conference this morning with British Prime Minister Theresa May:

"I will absolutely bring that up. I don’t think you’ll have any “Gee, I did it, I did it, you got me.” There won’t be a Perry Mason here, I don’t think, but you never know what happens, right? But I will absolutely, firmly ask the question."

He’ll “firmly ask the question,” and when Putin says that it never happened, Trump will once again accept and repeat that denial, because that’s what he wants everyone to believe.

How is this anything other than a.) a US President playing footsie with Vladmir Putin, covering both their *****, b). a harebrained maniac who's driving a car off a cliff, or c). a happy-go-lucky, willing idiot who lucked into a Presidency cause Putin wanted to sow chaos in the West?

If there was no Trump collusion as being argued on this board, the answer seems to be c).

Right. Trump should go in and pull a Rambo. What would the press say about collusion if trump instead gave a stand down order on Russia. Funny how Obama did that, said it's not the 80s to mock Romney and was caught on a open mic saying to wait till after the election. Where were you claiming our president was in bed with Russia, where was the lefts concern and outrage.

d) The game has changed, and the liberal elite just does not get it yet. The power shift is seismic.

That's cute Spike. We may very well still be at the beginning of Mueller's indictments. Going after the small fish first, getting cooperation from lesser actors, tightening the noose along the way. By the book. Not an accident Bob Mueller was appointed to lead this investigation, he's the best in the business.

As I've been saying from day one, if Trump is truly innocent and has nothing to hide, he would have run to Mueller to clear his name under oath.

Maybe if you use bigger, bolder font next time it'd be more persuasive....or edit your post and add a faux-patriotic pic of Trump and Melanija Knavs with the Queen, that would work too.

Hope springs eternal.

Maybe Mueller can investigate this...

Top Hillary Aide Huma Abedin Gave False Statements to FBI Agents in 2017 Interview

The FBI previously declassified Huma’s 302 summary from her 2016 interview with Peter Strzok and David Laufman.

Hillary’s ride-or-die aides, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills both lied to Strzok and Laufman.

Abedin lied to Strzok in her 2016 interview when said she had no knowledge of Hillary Clinton’s private server until after leaving the State Department in early 2013.

“Abedin did not know that Clinton had a private server until about a year and a half ago when it became public knowledge,” according to Strzok’s 302 summary interview with Huma.

Email exchanges between Huma Abedin and other Clinton aides in 2010 and 2011, however, reveal she was fully aware of Hillary’s private server before it became public knowledge.

Email exchanges between Huma and other Clinton aides as previously reported by The Daily Caller:

“hrc email coming back — is server okay?” Mills asked in a Feb. 27, 2010 email to Abedin and Justin Cooper, a longtime aide to Bill Clinton who helped set up the Clinton server.

“Ur funny. We are on the same server,” Cooper replied.

Mills and Abedin were also involved in an Aug. 30, 2011 exchange in which State Department official Stephen Mull mentioned that Clinton’s “email server is down.”

And in a Jan. 9, 2011 email exchange, Cooper told Abedin that Clinton’s server had been malfunctioning because “someone was trying to hack us.”

“Had to shut down the server,” wrote Cooper, who told the FBI in his interviews that he discussed Clinton’s server with Abedin in 2009, when it was being set up.

FBI warned Clinton campaign (2016) of cyberattack

The FBI warned the Clinton campaign that it was a target of a cyberattack last March, just weeks before the Democratic National Committee discovered it had been penetrated by hackers it now believes were working for Russian intelligence, two sources who have been briefed on the matter told Yahoo News.

One of the sources said agents conducting a national security investigation asked the Clinton campaign to turn over internal computer logs as well as the personal email addresses of senior campaign officials.

But the campaign, through its lawyers, declined to provide the data, deciding that the FBI’s request for sensitive personal and campaign information data was too broad and intrusive, the source said.

Hillary didn’t want the FBI to find out she was Colluding with the Russians!

No one said Russia doesn't meddle in our elections or it isn't a problem. The problem is the left immediate reaction to say Trump colluding.

Trump has said it wasn’t Russia who meddled, he asked Putin, Putin said “No”. Trump took him at his word.

Trump publically asked the Russians to find Hillary’s e-mails and they did.

Immediate reaction?

Rosenstein Confirms DNC Server Was Not Hacked

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein confirmed that the DNC server was never actually hacked.

Rather, the emails were obtained through a “spear phishing” email scam which THOUSANDS of others, including Republicans fell for.

“They also hacked into the networks of a Congressional campaign and a national political committee,” Rosenstein continued.

The computer networks Rosenstein was referring to was a Congressional campaign, not the DNC server.

House conservatives prep push to impeach Rosenstein

Conservative lawmakers in the House are preparing to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Politico reported Friday.

Sources told the publication that conservatives have been preparing to have Rosenstein impeached for weeks over allegations that he’s held up their investigation into FBI agents who some lawmakers say are biased against President Trump.

House Freedom Caucus leaders Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are leading the effort, and the impeachment document could be filed as soon as Monday, according to Politico.

White House Responds to Mueller's Latest Russia Indictments

"As Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said today, there is no allegation in this indictment that Americans knew that they were corresponding with Russians. There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result,”

Deputy Press Secretary Lindsay Walters released in a statement. "Today’s charges include no allegations of knowing involvement by anyone on the campaign and no allegations that the alleged hacking affected the election result. This is consistent with what we have been saying all along.”

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who made the indictment announcement from the Justice Department, did in fact make similar remarks.

"The conspirators corresponded with several Americans through the internet. There is no allegation in the indictment that the Americans knew they were communicating with Russian intelligence officers," Rosenstein said.

"There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy altered the vote count or changed any election result."

‘Warning Lights Are Blinking Red,’ Top Intelligence Officer Says of Russian Attacks
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/13/us/politics/dan-coats-intelligence-russia-cyber-warning.html

WASHINGTON — The nation’s top intelligence officer said on Friday that the persistent danger of Russian cyberattacks today was akin to the warnings the United States had of stepped-up terror threats ahead of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

That note of alarm sounded by Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, came on the same day that 12 Russian agents were indicted on charges of hacking the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Mr. Coats said those indictments illustrated Moscow’s continuing strategy to undermine the United States’ democracy and erode its institutions.

“The warning lights are blinking red again,” Mr. Coats said as he cautioned of cyberthreats. “Today, the digital infrastructure that serves this country is literally under attack.”

Coming just days ahead of President Trump’s meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, Mr. Coats’s comments demonstrate the persistent divisions within the administration on Russia — and on how hard a line senior administration officials should take with Moscow on its cyberspace activities.

What will Trump do on Monday when facing America's clear adversary in Vladimir Putin? Will he have America's interests in mind, or his own? Will he defend the Republic, or slither around at Putin's feet? We'll soon find out.

DERSHOWITZ ON MUELLER’S INDICTMENTS: IT ‘PROVES THAT WE NEVER NEEDED A SPECIAL COUNSEL’

Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz defended President Trump and went after the special counsel Robert Mueller after the Department Of Justice announced the indictments of 12 Russians

“Well, you know it proves — this indictment proves that we never needed a special counsel,” Dershowitz said, when asked about what the indictments mean for the special counsel.

“This indictment could have been brought by ordinary prosecutors, ordinary FBI agents. There’s no conflict here. It’s Russians they are going after. There is no president; There’s no people around the president,” he added.

Dershowitz continued, “There’s no conflict between the attorney general, the deputy attorney general and Americans — It’s all Russians. Why do we need to spend 20, 30, 40 million dollars, have special counsel appointed to do a routine national security investigation?”

Was the Republicans' email security just that much better than the Democrats'? The GOP's email server wasn't in a bathroom closet in Denver?

Tibs you ignorant slut,

The Russians have been medling in and trying to influence our elections since before either of us was born. There was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia you Neo-Socialist asshats have seized on it this time because The Russians found a way to circumvent you’re willing accomplice is in the mainstream media and get the story of the Clinton crime family is a corruption out to the public.

Yeah, Mueller has caught a lot of witches. 95% of which are Russian nationals that will never be extradited to answer to the grand jury that indicted them.

Is this thing not constrained at all by the original (bullshit) reason for it's creation? This is ridiculous. You get a team of professional prosecutors with an unlimited budget and they will find things, guaranteed, so there really appears to be no end in site to whatever the **** this is.

No, if President Trump lost there would have been no investigation because there would have been no reason for one.

I believe there would be an investigation, as there should be, but with a few differences. Firstly, it would be your typical counter-intelligence FBI investigation, probably headed by Peter Strzok, but without the smelly, ignorant hillbillies and insurance policies. There would be no need for a Special Prosecutor. There would certainly be a different FBI chief, as Hillary would have fired Comey on her first day in office. Michael Flynn would be living a normal, happy life, as would George Papadopulous, and Manafort. We would not be having these contentious hearings that are splitting the country. The Steele dossier would never have seen the light of day. The ***** hat industry stock prices would be at an all time

All of this because of an out of control SP. Dershowitz is correct. One should have never been appointed. We should stop this witch hunt now.

Jesus H Christ. Posts like these...

So let me guess, because Russia launches cyber attacks on us, Trump shouldn't meet with Putin?? Yet Obama and ******* Kerry knew that Iran (our CLEAR ADVERSARY) was conducting cyber attacks against our public utilities and companies here in the USA - and Bammy still funneled $1.5Billion to his brothers in Iran. And back when your beloved FBP, the Messiah, ruled the land with his pen, this problem was known widely. Yet that asshat met and negotiated and shook hands with all of them. He gave Iran cash. He rolled out the red carpet for the Chinese President to visit the White House. I mean, hell, they only stole military jet weapons plans from us, but Bammy brought him to the White House for days.

Now , all of a sudden, you find rage???

Once again, Tibor, your selective outrage knows quite literally NO bounds. The **** is wrong with your eyes man, they only see one direction.

EVERY country conducts cyber espionage and in some cases cyber attacks against other countries. Hell, we park submarines off the coasts of countries and hack the living **** out of them. Have forever. Bammy read the reports and supported it too. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ing-other-countries-with-stealthy-submarines/

Why don't you take your condescending *** to one of those trade rags you always talk about that you double and triple check (because you only deal in facts...LMAO) and research cyber warfare and cyber espionage around the globe. Learn about the players, the targets. And how we all do it to each other....

Then try to explain to us all again why Trump meeting with Putin is bad, but Obama and Kerry meeting with Iran, GIVING THEM CASH and entertaining China's President was fine and dandy. Would love to hear that.

America Is Losing the Cyber War
Russia, China, Iran and North Korea have a tactical edge against U.S. digital restraint.

Sept. 29, 2016 [ps...this means it was written while The Almighty Kenyan was still President]

RUSSIA, CHINA, IRAN AND North Korea routinely launch cyberattacks on civilian areas, hacking private companies or undermining foreign militaries, using online tools to manipulate information or digital propaganda to shape others' opinions, and employing digital mercenaries to do the work.

The Chinese military stole U.S. plans to the technically sophisticated F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, allowing Beijing to create the copycat J-31. Hackers with connections to the Iranian government were charged earlier this year for attacks on U.S. banks and a dam in New York. North Korean operatives released a trove of damaging emails from Sony as the entertainment company planned to release a comedy with an unflattering portrayal of the country's leader. And Russia is widely suspected in a hack of the Democratic National Committee that could amount to a bid to undermine the integrity of the upcoming U.S. election.

I don't doubt the article at all, Tibs. It indicates what we all know - Russia is and remains an enemy of the United States, and spends resources trying to infiltrate our digital information, and engaged in disinformation during the 2016 election, just as they had previously done in European elections, and America's 2014 elections.

And the United States, through its intelligence sources, tries to infiltrate Russian databases and information. It's called spying. Disinformation has long been a weapon used in spying.

If your concern is that Trump is too comfortable with Putin, and is going to be duped into lowering his guard ... okay. Maybe we should actually see what develops.

We do know one thing about the United States' efforts to thwart Russian-backed hacking into our elections: Donald Trump has never ordered a "stand down" regarding efforts to counter Russian cyberattacks.
