And the latest WR To be a Steeler.....Mike Williams

You were wrong, I told you Rogers couldn't get him the rock....Game-winning TD catch with them suspect hands you were peddling...
He ran a go route. It was a good throw and catch. But it’s not like he ran a whip or a combination route.

I’m glad he caught it and I hope he proves me wrong and catches many more. I’m just not going to hold my breath.

It's the assuredness of which some argue. Mike Williams isn't gonna make a difference. Cam Heyward is done. I'm not quite sure how folks are so confident in their opinions when they aren't there. They don't see ewhat goes on in the building. My point is let's see how things play out a bit before we make pronouncements. You may be right about Williams in the long run, but we'll see. I'm certainly not going to say he is the answer yet, but at the same time, he could be. I'm not sure you can judge the guy by NY. It seems as if Rodgers has the guys he likes and if you ain't one of those guys it isn't gonna be good, regardless of your ability.

Williams and Pickens both are contested ball catchers. Pickens is better, but now at least if pickens went down, that component isnt totally missing from the wrs..

I am very disappointed all their burners arent getting open though. I mean they do, but not with any frequency except ca3... who remains tiny...
jefferson isnt producing what he did with the rams... he gets chances but hasnt really made plays on the balls thrown

Folks act like the "simple" stutter-and-go route was a sure completion or easy route to get a touchdown on. If it was, it would be the only route every team in the NFL ran/threw to. Moreover, Williams got here midweek, and didn't practice running that route with Wilson (at least during practice). So, the timing between QB and WR becomes an issue. There are no "sure fire" completions in the NFL and the fact that Williams and Russ were able to make this work and give us the winning TD is admirable.

I like the idea of that. I hope teams are thinking, "Shiit, they are drawing stuff up in the dirt!"

I know that isn't what it is, but I like the thought of it.

This is my whole point to clowning every single person that talked smack about that trade

They knew the guy would never do anything and the first game he pays for the fifth round pick that we just sent out by catching the game winner

And what a throw & catch. Wilson drops it in a bucket from 30 yards

Ball was in the air by the time Williams gets to 20 yard line and he tracks it to the end zone for a difficult over the shoulder catch

There are a handful of people here who didn't get enough attention from their daddies. They'll continue to beg for attention and I'll continue to slap them around.

Edit: Wilson was under pressure and falling back at the 40 yard line when he floated that ball to the end zone.

Williams was looking up and tracking the ball from the 18 yard line and has to adjust outside for his last two steps

Gotta believe probability to score TD on this okay was less than 25%>

Just a stellar play by a SB MVP and a guy who joined the team the day before. Let that sink in.

Not mentioning what Russell said to Williams on sideline

Just realism. I just read the Panthers wanted too much for Thielen. If they traded the 39th pick for a 4th after 1.5 years I can’t imagine them not jumping on a 5th for Thielen but maybe I’m wrong.

Maybe the thought is we’ll run MW on constant go routes preventing defenses from doubling GP all the time and then it should open up the middle for Freiermuth and Washington. I just don’t see Williams catching onto the offense really quickly.

My over/under for him is 150 yards the rest of the season.

They literally had single high safety and ran a go route for him and Pickens. They doubled GP leaving Williams singled up. It was a good throw and good catch. I hope it continues every week. I wanted a possession guy. Route runner with A plus hands. Maybe that’s not what the Steelers wanted. Russ has looked good throwing the deep ball so maybe they wanted to help GP stay singled up. If Mike can do that and he makes plays like this consistently then I’ll be happy to be wrong. In fact I will be THRILLED to be wrong.

It was the game winning play. Great throw and a great catch, boom, TD.
Was I excited that Williams was traded here? Nah, not really. Am I happy he’s with us now? He’ll yes!
I can’t sit here and super analyze this trade since I’m not qualified but my eyes don’t deceive me. Williams made the play plain and simple and he sure as hell won’t hurt this offense. Btw, did Van Jefferson play yesterday?

Once again without his game winner, we might not win that game.

Every highlight reel in America is showing that you are wrong
Because of one play… It’s a long rest of the season. Again, I hope he continues to have a huge catch every week. But it’s one play.

I remember saying at the time of the trade going down that if he contributed in a meaningful way to a couple victories that it would be a good deal.

Got the first meaningful play contributing to a win out of the way rather quickly so I’m just gonna put this out in the universe too…

Would be nice to see him help us win a few playoff games too!

I think this is the exact same route CAIII has ran and they haven’t been that successful with it. He has the speed but not the size. I remember in the preseason they tried it with a pass from Kyle Allen. Looked awkward and ugly. I think (as long as he plays this Sunday) we will see CAIII in the slot or Scotty ‘doesn’t know’ Miller in the slot and they should have more open field to use. I’m wondering how Van Jefferson would look like in the slot…

You're right, Mike Williams was asked if it was CAIII's same route & he said "Yeah, I think so"...

GAME WINNING TD IN FIRST GAME...Nice evaluation & scouting report though...
I'm thrilled he scored the game-winning touchdown. I still didn't see anything that demonstrated he is a legit WR2 and falls in line with the WRs we already have. He brings a different skillset to the table, but is a receiver who hasn't produced in a couple of years. However, if he makes 10 catches the rest of the season and 6 are for TDs that would be wonderful.

And it still isnt.. Rogers so far has sh1t the bed.

Me too. But in to be fair we have two - three possession guys in the game at all times in our 12 package.

Meh....single coverage. Mike beat his guy badly....Russ has thrown that pass 100s of times....Mike has caught 100s of passes. A great call. Great pass. Great catch. Great win.
