And the latest WR To be a Steeler.....Mike Williams

I thought they gave up too much at the time and that proved to be the case. For all that Khan/Weidl have done well, addressing WR2 this year was a failure.
Would be nice to see him on the field over Van Jefferson for the WC game.

Run with GP and Mike outside and Muth and Darnell at TE. Other than subbing CA3 in here or there when someone needs a blow just scrap the bs of getting Pruitt, Connor Heyward, CP and Van Snaps unless they are absolutely needed due to an injury or someone needs a blow.

Go down swinging with your best guys on the field for ***** sake.

Putting in an imaginative package with Fields and Najee in the backfield for short yardage sets would be cool too, but we know innovation has no place in the Tomlin scheme. So how about just scrapping the ATL rejects for a game???

He made a sweet catch last night that, for what reason, earned him a spot on the bench. He can’t make plays from the sideline.

He’s a one trick pony. Fly routes are his thing. Hey, he’s good at them but we need someone to move chains with those flat, drag, comeback, curl, dig routes that take precision. That’s just not him. A 5th was too spendy.

Which further warrants questioning as to why he wasn’t used considering that’s all that Wilson can ******* throw. The dude caught a game winning td, and had a helluva catch last night thag gave a little spark to the offense. Quite honestly, that’s more than I can say of #14

So you think Mike Williams is better than George Pickens… 👍

Not in the least. Quite honestly, I don’t think I even implied that. However, it’s not a stretch (by any ******* means) to say that Williams has done more with his limited opportunities than Pickens has done all year long. I can think of Pickens playing a major role In three **** sandwiches this year because of him having a 10 cent brain (Indy-fumble, drops; Dallas-can’t get two feet in the end zone, Cincinnati-1 catch, 0 yards, 3 drops).

The straight 0 stat line is the norm for Williams. The bengals were all over GP the second he got the ball. It’s not like #14 got hit in the hands uncontested and dropped the ball. He had DBs hitting the ball right after. Maybe if Williams could take a little coverage off Pickens he would have had a chance to tuck the ball away. And where is the hate for Muth? Or Wilson? Wilson threw a horrible pass on a sure fire TD then Muth drops a perfect pass for the first down and FG range pass to end it.

There’s plenty of blame to go around but I think people hyper focus on Pickens because he’s a polarizing player. And whether you like him or not we have NOTHING at WR without him.

George Pickens quit on this team. **** him and his overly sensitive ego.

Well, yeah that’s how it works. When your effort is questioned or you take dumb, selfish penalties, pick a fight with fans in the stands, or just generally draw attention to yourself for negative reasons fans will be extra critical when you drop 3 balls in a big game, especially when you’re supposed to be one of the best in the league.

Sure, but as a fan who had a higher expectation of #14, you can see where the frustration is coming from. Pickens has had ample opportunity to show that he is “the man” here, and he’s failed to do so. Instead, he’s the #1 by default because he’s strictly much more talented than anyone in the room. You’re going to run your mouth all year, and then when the target is on your back, you (quite literally) drop the ball, it’s hard to be taken seriously. Yeah the defenders made plays, but they’re still a **** defense, and I expect him to rise above. Routine plays routinely, ol’ shades would say.

Of the 42 players with at least 800 receiving yards, only Jameson Williams (58), Jayden Reed (55), and Alec Pierce (37) had fewer than Pickens 59 receptions. Williams is a No. 2 and the Packers and Colts both have decent depth, but no stand outs at receiver. While it's not necessary, you expect your WR1 to also be a bit of a volume producer in addition to creating big plays.

Our current offensive system sucks.

A player that’s polarizing is a pretty good reason for focusing on a player thats polarizing.

Based on the game yesterday, just about anyone on the team was more productive. The kid is a head case right now. He's pouting and underperforming. His performance against the Bengals was embarrassing. He can't do anything about being wide open only to have Wilson overthrow him, but he had three balls hit him in the hands that he would normally catch drop to the ground in situations that could have really helped the team sustain drives. He was mouthing off to fans and has been extremely immature. Yes, he has talent, but what good is that if you are always throwing tantrums, taking plays off and losing your cool?

Watching the Bengals play this year made me nostalgic for the days when the Steelers actually had an offense and a QB that could move the ball. Big Ben and AB in their prime, among others, are very missed. AB flamed out big time, but for years the guy was as good as it gets. He almost always came through for the team making insane catches that had no business being caught. It's too bad his legacy will be remembered by his actions at the end of his career and not the dominating receiver he was for most of his time with the Steelers.

At this point in his carer, Wilson needs the time to throw. I think his smaller size has caught up to him since he's lost some of his speed and mobility. If given the time, he's still a decent QB. Fields isn't the future either in my opinion. He's a good athlete and people will want to turn him into Jackson 2.0, but I don't know if he will ever be that. I'm sure Tomlin like him because he fits his conservative system of keeping the score close and letting the defense keep the team in games. The downside to that, is one close to 500 season after another with zero playoff success (the Tomlin standard).

I’d question why when the offense has only 1 legit WR why he isn’t even looked at in many of the progressions.

**** by the end of the Bungle game Russ was literally staring at Pat nonstop, hardly even looking anywhere else.

Was Pickens playing like crap, sure was
Has Van been invisible all season (267 yards and 2 TDs for a WR2!!!) sure has
They won’t even use Williams who seems decent when given targets.

Many things are broken with the offense. The scheme, the OL coaching, the OL, the playbook, the play calls, the lack of receivers, the crappy QB and the only WR that is worth anything is obviously tired of the entire shituation.

So next year we’ll have Pat and Washington (who they don’t use) and CA3 and maybe Roman Wilson if he amounts to anything (big ?) and maybe a new shiny draft pick to wreck. They’ll likely bring back the useless Pat Mayer and we’ll be sitting with a likely even less productive bunch. If you think any decent FA WR is coming here it will require a massive overpayment.

Happy Groundhog’s day!
Can’t get enough of this Tomlin winning!!!

Giving up draft capital then barely playing Williams was a huge mistake. I keep seeing all the articles about how everyone was "Khaned' because of the Fields and Williams trades. At this point, especially if Fields is gone after this season, I'd argue both Chicago and the Jets got the better of those deals. At this point we got 6 games out of Fields for a 6th and a player Tomlin refuses to put on the field in Williams for a 5th. Get Williams out there on every play. The guy is big and athletic. Wilson likes to through the jump balls. He's a better option than anything else the team has except for head case Pickens. Maybe if the guy actually got more time and targets, he'd produce. We will never know.

6 games and a 4-2 record for a 6th was a good deal for the Steelers.
