Archers 40 doesn't translate

I know he was a lousy pick. Truth is NO player that was available with that pick would help this ******* mess, so why the Hell is getting beaten like a dead ******* horse over and over? Don't you guys ever get tired of repeating the same damn **** 1,000 times? Nobody here is ever going to switch to the opposing point of view, rehashing him in every thread is getting ridiculous.

another blistering performance....what an incredible weapon!!!!!!!!!

He did exactly what I would expect an average rookie rb/wr to do, no mistakes, and he certainly didn't cost us any field position or points. There are places to look for blame for this loss, but if you're looking at this dude for them, you're on ******* crack.

Joe

I don't think anyone's blaming the loss on him. Just feeling vindicated after the mountains of **** heaped upon everyone who didn't like the pick in his 10,000-page thread.

The stupidity of picking a gimmick player in the 3rd round on a talent deficient , mediocre team and then having the homers praise the Steelers FO for the pick and ridiculing those of us who hated the pick is why he is being slammed in your faces. NO NFL RB of his size has succeeded in the last 40 years bit hey the Steelers FO is smarter than us mere fans who don't know ****.

Archer had 3 carries for 24 yards and people are bitching like he lost the game for us. Oh, Tuitt had another assisted tackle so he's on track for the hall of fame.

Loved all those short kickoff returns where the moron could not even make it out to the 20, he was supposed to be a great KO return man, LMFAO, he is slow and indesicive on his returns.

You aren't really slamming jack **** in anyone's face. The people arguing back and forth with you for the most part are doing the same thing you're doing. Being defensive/argumentative and giving you their opinion. He hasn't done much, which makes him like about 80% of our roster this season. Right about now I'm not so sure too many people here think anyone in the front office is worth a **** either.

yep...love those 7 yard deep KO returns to the 13.... The O really needs the extra challenge of starting deep in their own end. What a weapon!!!

How many of the bashers of us who hated the Archer pick have changed their minds ?

That's just it, how many thought he would be some great player? Most of it was about it being called a flat out wasted pick on a guy who would never contribute. I didn't like it either, but I will never call a pick a bust without giving it at least one full season. Most of the arguing is personal **** between posters who don't like each other. They argue about every subject, it's really kind of funny for the first few threads.

Point taken. I hope Archer beats the odds and becomes a great player but that is an uphill battle for a team that doesn't have the luxury of drafting gimmick players in the 3rd round with so many roster holes.

Am I the only one that is noticing the lack of blocking on our kick returns. Now if you look at Archers average it is 18-19 per return the problem is in order to return a kick you do it 8 yards deep from your own end zone and when he gets to the 5 he is already having to make moves or get the corner because the kickoff team is running free. Now I am disappointed that he hasn't broke a kick return but again he has 7 returns under his belt. Not a large sample size and with the new rules I guess it is risk vs reward on returning now. Because before they moved the place kicking spot up it was easier to get to the 20 than it is now. And I am not sure why our kick return unit is so poor at blocking.

Am I disappointed in his kick returns, yes. But after only seven attempts again I am not willing to give up on him.

As for his game touches. He has 5 rushes for 30 yards and 4 catches for 9 yards. Again, 9 total touches. 6 ypc is pretty good but again such a small sample size all it takes is one carry for a loss and that is horrible average and one huge gain gives him a huge average. I was hoping Archer would get 5-10 touches a game but it looks like they are slowing giving him more but at this rate won't be touching the ball over 5 times a game for a few more weeks. I still like the pick and looking at what we didn't take instead the only guy I really think is doing well is TJ Carrie but like I stated earlier he could have been had 5 times after the Archer pick so that is not a big deal.

What it comes down to is that kickoff returns are being drastically phased out of the NFL. Soon there won't be kickoffs at all; the league has already considered eliminating them entirely. From 1994-2010, the league's touchback percentage was 11.3%, and 84.9% of kickoffs were returned. From 2011-13, the touchback rate nearly quadrupled to 45.3%, and only 51.5% were returned.

So Archer's main contribution is mostly obsolete now and will be more so in the near future. Even if he bucks this AWFUL start of his and becomes a phenomenal KR, there's very little upside there.

Also, Tuitt had one assisted tackle doubling his season totals. I don't know what you guys think a 34 DE should do but look at Heyward getting in the backfield harrassing and sacking Hoyer or Keisel tracking down Cameron 40 yards down the field. That is what a DE should be doing. I do think Tuitt will do better as the season goes on and have hope he can get more playing time but the facts are he isn't and no one calls him a wasted pick. Archer is doing, ok but no one gives him slack. I am not saying Archer has done well or has blown up a huge play but besides AB and Bell no one has!

It's not so much the average that people are concerned about with his kick returns. It's when he's deciding to bring them out. His second return, he runs it straight out right into his own man. That's something you have to see. We could chalk it up to rookie mistake the first time, but how do you explain the next two?

He got us a first down. Those were tough to come by yesterday...

We had 22 first downs. 3 more than the clowns. If you add up the yards he lost on returns it more than makes up for his measly one 1st down.

Who cares about Archer at this point, really? Get back to Archer in a year or two, we'll see if he panned out at that point. This team is in trouble, up and down the roster.

The fact we drafted a gimmick midget in the 3rd round is indicative f the reason why this team is in trouble.
