Ask Depressed Cope...

Bullshit. NFL kickers missed 71 EXTRA POINTS this season, which are 33 yards away, or 7 yards closer than your "chip shot gimme" on a field where players had been slipping the entire day.

So not only will you refuse to acknowledge the fact that another minute of clock would have been useful, but you're also amazed by a simple hook-and-ladder play which happened to be poorly defended by the worst scoring defense in the whole league. And you're completely satisfied with the results -- a 40-yard FG attempt, on a ****** field, to simply tie the game (not win it) with 5 seconds to spare...and a timeout still in Tomlin's pocket for his post-game press conference.

OK, man. Whatever. Tomlin Rulz.

You seem like a reasonably intelligent, fairly nice fellow. But you're so far off on this, it's becoming painful to read.

Boswell was dead last on extra point accuracy ( 89.8% ), and deal last on field goal accuracy. ( 69.6% ) in the NFL.

His kickoffs are average at best. Boswell cost us at least two games, and that was the difference in not making the playoffs.

A kicker can win or lose key games. Just ask the Bears or the Rams. Our guy is rated 32nd out of 32 NFL kickers.

It will be the same **** next year. I remember last year when the Steelers lost to the ******* Jaguars at home in the first round. Then the call was "ONE more year and if Tomlin ***** it up then he can **** himself". Now after a ****** up year it's "ONE more year and if Tomlin ***** it up then he can **** himself". I remember the "AFC championship or BUST!!" Now he doesn't even make the playoffs and people want one more year. Nothing is going to change that.

Since nobody has asked; Cope, are you still depressed?

I'm starting to get message board "DEPRESSED" due to him not answering yaz. I realize people have their lives to live and things to do but why O'h why can they not make time to answer the board??? I sit here minute by minute then hour by hour checking and rechecking, all to no avail. My mind starts fluctuation and something else flacuates but none the less, I start to sink (& stink) into the hollows of what could have happened............ **** could I miss the outcome of the AB scenario and drop further. A lot rides on this for some.................

Inside of 40 is a gimmie. It used to be for Sushi and Boz before last year. This past year, not so much...

Amazing that they can even get into scoring range. And it's happened more than once late in games. You know why? Because the Steelers practice it. I wonder who got them to practice those plays?

Hmmmmmmm...

Munchak?!? and now he’s gone too.

Builds my case for Boz being team MVP.

I don't remember Tomlin kicking the FG, but then again, I don't only see blind rage when I hear the word Tomlin.

You can't kick a 40 yarder, which IS a gimmie last year, you don't belong in this league. That is the minimum standard for a FG kicker. Money inside of 40, outside of 40, you can be 70%, or at least those are the FG kickers the Steelers tend to employ.

I disagree on Bell. Conner is just as good, in some ways better. Screw Bell, we get 14.5 million in cap space this year.

Brown will be tougher to replace, but he's such a distraction.

Kickers are easy to find, Tomlin only needs to stop being loyal to under preforming players.

The Defense to find a good 3 down ILB, a better #2 corner, and eventually replace or pay for Dupree.

I don't think we disagree on the RB situation at all. I did state I'm fine with the committee of Conner/Samuels.

Kicker could be a priority in the draft late this year, or pick up a UDFA and see if they can compete.

I think targeting Pierre Desir would be a HUGE boon to our secondary, and would actually solidify it. I'd also be fine with the depth keeping Burns and Sutton behind Desir and Haden. Hopefully Sutton also continues to improve. I like his versatility to play slot or outside. A good ILB will really help in 3rd down situations, since we tend to keep ILBs on the field.

I'm here for you buddy!

yeah,, he helped us get a higher draft pick than we would have gotten going into play offs.

Always a positive. I love it!

Plus the Ravens have to trade up again to STEAL that TE we were going to draft. You know, like Maxx Williams? The TE that was so good, Ravens fans were crowing about how they screwed us to jump up and get him? Since then they drafted 2 TEs high last year and he's now a Free Agent. Way to go Ozzie!! Lolz...

I don't hate Tomlin, I just call it like it is. When you hear the word Tomlin, you only see the need for blind support, bullshit like this:

Overlook the fact that Tomlin wasted well over a minute of time as Oakland bled the clock down to 21 seconds. Never mind that it took an unlikely result on a trick play to even be in position to attempt a FG from 40 yards away with 5 seconds remaining. Ignore that the kicker had been struggling mightily to begin with, having already missed a field goal earlier in the game in addition to five extra points on the season. Forget that the field conditions were horrendous. Who cares that instead of using them earlier, he called one timeout with the clock stopped, and took another into the locker room? Why should it matter that three points only ties the game?

By God, the Steelers were in field goal range, so therefore Tomlin must have coached the situation flawlessly.

Nothing is ever Tomlin's fault, so of course you'll avoid all the other factors, simply blame the kicker, and dismiss the glaring clock mismanagement -- because it doesn't fit your Tomlin Is Great at In-Game Management Because the Steelers Score A Lot in the Last Two Minutes of Halves and Games script.

Plenty of things are Tomlin's fault, and I agree, that using that timeout on D could have helped more than having a TO with 15sec left, but if JuJu was tackled in bounds, they would have needed that TO to get a kick off.

I also don't know why you're making excuses for Boz. He sucked *** last year. Proper cleats and that kick would have been off. Carlson had no problem kicking for Oakland. He was 4/4 on extra points and hit a 44 yarder. They played on the same field and Carlson had no problem putting the ball through the uprights.

Maybe there's some hope for you, after all.

You needn't have worried about JuJu being tackled in bounds on a play like that, because if Tomlin had correctly left the team with a minute-and-a-half to work with, there'd have been no need to run that type of trick play.

Not making excuses for Boswell...he clearly wasn't the only Steeler having difficulty getting traction on that turf. I believe I mentioned that he had been struggling mightily, which makes it a bit strange that you would be perfectly content with a "chip shot gimme" 40-yard attempt from a guy who "sucked ***." Thanks for proving my point.

And Carlson was kicking on his home field for the fifth time, so I'm not sure what that has to do with it. Unlike Boswell, he would obviously be used to the conditions.

I hear you TS, but Boz makes that kick with no issue in 2017.
