Ben getting sick of Haley

I heard that TDX27 fella has skills in this area also. He'd be a great OC. Ben would like him..

Whoever decided not to have two plays coming out of the huddle is pretty damn dumb, and yes that all should've been discussed during our 4 minute timeout, and spare me that lame *** excuse that one of the officials said it could be down at the one with a ten second run off, that was a crap excuse.

Which is all the more reason to have 2 ******* plays called during the review.

That is squarely on the head coach. Watching that video of Tomlin from the sidelines say no spike and to get a play call in was so discouraging. For all of the good our coaching staff does, that was easily a low point.

I see the point you're making, but in that instance, I didn't have an issue with Tomlin wanting to go for it. It was a third down, and there was plenty of time for us to get settled, get a play off, and be able to have minimal time, either to kick a field goal and/or give the cheats any time on the clock. I can't bring myself to fault him for wanting to go for the win, not even a little bit. Especially because we've done it in the past (@San Diego Chargers, 2015). Honestly, after hearing Ben, I feel like he thought that it was a second down play, that we would have another down post-spike, and we all know that that wasn't the case. I felt that there was no reason to hurry it along, and that's why I'm frustrated with his throw because, confusion or not, I wish he would've heaved it into the stands just to make a point.

There has to be two plays after a 4 minute wait, and just to have everyone on the same page. As a coach he should want to communicate to the O that we have zero timeouts and if the play is tackled in bounds what are they going to do.

I'm not talking about going for it, I love that they did. What I mean is that they didn't have a second play ready to go in case the clock continued to run.

Haley does some **** that infuriates me. I hate an empty backfield on first down, because other than one of those dumb *** reverses, there's no run threat. First and goal at the two and Bell doesn't get a touch another time.

But our QB made two dumb *** decisions at the end of that game. The dump off in play to Heyward Bey, and that last throw. We will live and die with how Ben plays in the playoff's, and he's more than capable of leading a title run. The Texans suck, but today showed what the offense is capable of when everybody contributes. The defense with Haden can do enough to get some stops. This is the best I've felt about our chances in a long time. Predicated on Brown being Brown come playoff time.

sure thats why with 22 seconds left on the clock the best play he could call was the fake spike play

Technically, Ben called the clock play and would have kicked the FG for overtime. A safe if uninspired choice. It was Haley and Tomlin who demanded the fake spike play.

Did you see the entire field to see who was open on the DHB reception? The receivers are taught to drop the ball if they don't think they could get out of bounds. On the last play, Ben is a few inches away from having a remarkable touchdown pass. It wasn't the smartest or the safest throw, but for only two players actually playing on offense (three if you count Pouncey), he did his best to try to win the game and it didn't work out. I would have rather seen him launch it over everyone's heads and kick the FG to send it to OT, but that's not how Ben plays the game. I also would have liked our HC and OC to already have a second play ready in case the play ended in bounds like it did.

Haley will be gone at the end of the year. He’ll probably get a HC job somewhere where the age of consent is 16. He’ll be a miserable HC. Ben will play out his contract and we’ll get some other lame fish to throw stones at next year.

Fresh meat 🥩!

If Ben didnt make it a point to let EVERYONE know he calls the plays in the no huddle i wouldnt be saying anything..but he does..so there fore if you can let everyone know then you should be more then capable of calling a real play once told to go for it. The audio picked by TV calls for them to run a play.. BEN CALLED THE FAKE SPIKE. HE HAD TIME TO CALL A REAL PLAY. HE SHOULDNT NEED TO BE TOLD A PLAY BECAUSE ACCORDING TO HIM HE IS MORE THEN CAPABALE OF CALLING A PLAY AND DOESNT NEED THE HELP..

Q. I'd like to revisit a couple of the things you said at your news conference last Tuesday. You said: "I find comfort in the fact that No. 7 is my quarterback. If everybody on the field is uncomfortable, then that's advantage Pittsburgh Steelers." Can you explain what you mean there?

A. It's simple. Sometimes the kitchen is going to get hot in big moments and in big games and so forth, and when you have a guy who's not only talented but is a seasoned veteran guy who has been in those moments time and time again over the course of a 14-year career, there is an advantage in that. Just like there's an advantage for Tom Brady to have the ball in his hand when his offensive football team is in those moments. Not only is he tremendously talented, but he has been doing it for a unique number of years - 18 years. I think when you have unique talents coupled with unique experience, then certainly there is an advantage there in those moments.

Q. You also said that since Ben is a veteran quarterback and the guy inside the helmet on the field, he has latitude to go with his gut. You called it normal operating procedure. Why do you believe that's the way to handle things?

A. Because you get those moments and you get them once, and you have a guy under center who plays the game and has played the game and has that in-helmet perspective and experience. If he has certain feelings based on things he sees in-game, you have to give him the latitude to do the things that experience tells him to do. And then we can have a discussion after, but the worst thing you can do is to miss an opportunity that he knows he's looking at, or that his experience tells him is not a good one, and not allow him to play to those gut instincts. I'm sure it's no different if you have a seasoned veteran point guard on a basketball team.

Ben DIDN'T call a fake spike, he was calling for a real spike, then the call came in late, there wasn't time to call an actual play, most of the guys were ready for the clock play, Bell was standing with his mouth piece in his hands. All the more reason they should've had multiple plays ready after the review.

Someone posted a replay where it showed Tomlin screaming in from the sideline to run a play, and NOT spike it. Yes, he was yelling it in, not using any kind of signal, so all the *pats defense could hear it and were ready for the play. you can't run a fake spike when your coach lets the other team in on the secret.

And about Romo: why the **** would he give up all that broadcaster money to come and babysit Ben for the next year or two, while working under a head coach that doesn't have a firm grip on the nuances of the game? You want him because you think he's smart, right? Not stupid?

It wasn't a fake spike play, we were really going to spike it, then the call came in late after every one on the offense thought it was going to be clocked.
That's why during the replay you get the O together and tell them if the 2nd down play is in bounds we are running another play, then there is absolutely no confusion

#1 -- this is "reports say".... it's not something being made public through the players.

Ever not get along with a co-worker? It happens. It's life.

Ben's best years have occurred under Haley's offense. It's conceivable he could lead the NFL in passing yards a 2nd time.

There is no question Ben has frustrations with the current staff -- the consistent underachieving underlines it.

I have a feeling Haley is going to get a job as a Head Coach after this year -- and Ben's talk of retirement is all about leverage. He's not walking away from this team as it's built unless they win it all. It's too close to a championship.
