Ben's Done

Romo didn't nail anything. I and others have been saying this for 2 or 3 years now. We get that offensive penalty and we may as well punt the ball. We rarely recover and make a 1st down. It's ridiculous.

Now c'mon. I'm not going to "crucify" anyone. I personally don't think Haskins is the answer. If a change must be made, I believe Rudolph is the way to go. Again, in my humble opinion, Rudolph was actually playing pretty well until he was brained by Myles Garret (I believe). After that, he seemed to be much more antsy and far less consistent.
If he's gotten past those jitters, he may be a fairly decent plug in at QB. Right now I think Ben has the yips, as much as he wants to deny it, and playing behind that line he's basically trying to rush every play so he isn't sacked for forced to fumble.

Is Ben the best QB on the roster? Yes. Not even close. Is it possible (even likely) that he's going to continue to struggle behind THIS line? Ya. I think that may be so.

I'd agree with some of the others. Give Ben a week of heavy no-huddle and see if it does anything to improve the offensive output. If not, it could very well be the best thing for everyone to put Rudolph in, at least for a game or two. If Rudolph isn't able to do any better and if the line is still hot garbage, you consider demoting Rudolph and putting Haskins at #2 so you can play him, but still have Ben available without going to emergency QB status.

I hate him. I’d give him negative karma if I could

I think this is one of

I think this is one of the dumbest arguments ever for evaluating a coaches merits. Some coordinators just don't have the ability to be had coaches. There are plenty of examples of failed head coaching hires, that returned to coordinator spots to success. Not everyone has it in them to be a head coach.

Todd Haley and Mike Munchak are proof of that. Failed as head coaches, returned to shine as coordinators.

The argument that no one wants to come work for Tomlin is also pretty stupid, who have they even interviewed that has turned them down?
It really isn't a dumb argument. More than half the offensive and defensive gurus that are head coach candidates each year aren't cut out for it. They get noticed because other teams recognize the scheme and coaching as being top notch. As many have argued here over the years, the Steelers get by with more talent on the field. How many games a year do the Steelers truly out scheme an opponent? Guys like Capers, LeBeau, Mularkey, Whisenhunt all were noticed for their coaching ability and it got them HC jobs. None were particularly good in that role, but they earned the chance.

I saw Clint Eastwood's "Cry Macho" a weekend ago. It was hard to watch such a poorly written & acted movie from one of my favorites ever. But that bad movie doesn't detract how I feel about Clint's overall body of work.

Some all-time greats just fade away.
Clint Eastwood and Ben have about the same mobility in the pocket.

No, I just own a dictionary.

Sorry, but playing Haskins is about as dumb as it gets. His problem was being put in too early in Washington and he couldn't handle it. He looked good in shorts throwing the ball this offseason but absolutely sucked when he played in a preseason game with and against the 1's. He can't read defenses or go through his progressions. His best hope is to sit for a year and then compete with Rudolph for the starting job (an uphill battle for Haskins) and if he wins that, then he will get a shot to start. The only other way he should start this season is if Ben and Rudolph are injured. At this point, Haskins still sucks, period, the end and gives us no chance to win.

i didn't read through this thread but i'll just say Ben is not done. Physically he looks better than he has in a few years. Of course he's not as mobile as before but that doesn't mean he's done.

The OL is ****, the WRs are not on the same page and the scheme is horrible. People forget that just 2 years ago people said Brady and Rodgers were both washed up too. Coincidentally when their OLs suffered and they lost weapons.

Here's an article wondering if Brady is washed up

The whole offense is a wreck. I just don't see parking it all on Ben. That's the easy way, just put in the backup and problem solved. The OL will block, the WRs will all run the right routes. Claypool will fight for contested catches. Canada will star using Freiermuth. Oh, and Devin Bush will actually make a play near the line of scrimmage.
