Big Ben

Conner was/is an average back behind a really good Steelers line back then. Dude is tough, but has terrible vision, no moves, and average speed.

ADD in brittal.

I like your post, but I disagree to an extent. The execution was dogshit the first 4 weeks. This young O with 4 rookies is starting to execute now. Love watching them grow and be successful.

And when you executing, as we are now, Canada is able to have plays set up other plays. It was his best game keeping the Browns off balance attacking the run. Do love the RPOs and Ben is getting better at them as well!

GREAT post as one can see right before his / her / non-gender specific eyes these players are developing into.

Cope, you are right as this is an exciting time in the transformation dance. I'm excited and key a few specific. Freirmuth is huge to me, been missing a TE for eons. Obviously Najee is in his own world great. Now add in the two rookie OL men and whoAley **** you've got things going.

Another player is the aggression of Deonte Johnson in overcoming his dropsies. When the throw is his was I don't even flinch in wondering as he is SOLID hands man now.

Gentry has progressed surprisingly well, is that really the same Gentry of past, WoWzA........... keeper and goodby Ebron (i'd entain a draft pick trade for eric).

Presley Harvin is a work in progress which is normal for a rookie. He could do better but hasn't cost us anything as far as win / loss goes. He has reversed field position and has not. I think he will get better and better, he needs an off-season to simmer but he will be fine going forward.

Coaching has been a little up and down but mostly OK to this point. Don't magnify a specific play into a bigger than it was play (coaching wise). A win definately sooths but I still feel our ST coach "bubbles" should have and still needs replace even if in season. If our WR coach doesn't step up, NOT 2-step, then I feel he needs replaced at end season as well.

All good here

Uh... Conner had a lot more 20+ yard runs than Bell or Harris (so far). I'm quite confident in Harris, but again, let's not pretend that Conner was hot garbage. He was a fine running back when we had some semblance of a line.
And healthy enough to finish a game. That's kind of important too

I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to play next year. O-line should be solid by then and weapons are falling into place.

**** no! If he isnt wilfully walking out that door to move on with his life's work, he needs to be given the dj jazzy jeff treatment, with art deuce playing the role of uncle phil

Ya. May be.
He also had Waaay more 20+ yard runs and TDs than L. Bell behind that line.
And I merely point out that until the line recently started blocking marginally better, Harris was not looking like anything special running the ball.
Kinda like Conner behind the same **** line last year, ya?

That's because his arm is not what it was, dude needs to hang them up. And I don't care about " he can still fling it 50 yards!" There is a lot more to it than that. Your throwing motion changes to compensate for loss of torso strength and other factors, that affects accuracy. Young guys don't need a super clean pocket they can fling it accurately from all kinds of positions...those days are over for 7. Doesn't mean he can't still play, you just have to have a clean pocket and don't expect too much.
I don't argue that Ben isn't what he was even 2 or 3 years ago.
But... He's far & away the best we have on the roster.
And I don't have any illusions that they're going to find a franchise QB in the 4th round next year.
So, enjoy. After Ben retires (likely at the end of the season) the suck will start in earnest.

We're heading back to 1985...hoping the drought doesn't last as long as it did then.
