Blount Leaves Field Before Game Is Over

I'm not "in the know", so I don't know what the braintrust is thinking. Maybe LB is in the doghouse. Maybe they liked how Bell was running all night. Could be several things. Usually, Blount is used to tire the D in the 4th or so I thought that's what he was brought in for. Hopefully, coach can shed some light in his weekly presser and clear up a lot of questions.

Obviously, the coach is in the lab, looking for an above the line response. Had to get it out before some other it wit did!!! LOL

Salute the nation

Mustve been a disciplinary move by the staff (to hold him out the game), because on the pass play that was reviewed/challenged for a possible fumble, Bell got cracked really good by Griffin. And he was obviously shaken. Haley/Tomlin left him in for that series.

I believe Blount was held out as a result of something that may have occured during the week. Maybe last night was a sort of punishment and humbling experience ---players love to shine on the national stage and him being held out during MNF infuriated him especially seeing how the Off line was mauling those guys and late in the game Bell was snatchin 8-9 yrds a pop. Blount wanted some of that.

We aint cuttin him nor should we, because if Bell goes down, kiss this season goodbye. Im not lookin forward to a backfield of just Dri and Will Johnson or some former UPS shipment driver.**** that.

Plus I am not impressed by ER4P's blitz pick up or 40 time.

Sit him down. Be honest with him and define what his most likely role moving forward will be. If he can live with it and can move forward keep him. If he wants his release instead, get rid of him. My 12 year old looked through the available list and it is thin. He thought Felix Jones and frankly I can't disagree if he is still available. He knows the plays and players for the most part and is a similar running style to Bell. Which is part of the problem with Blount. He is completely different from Bell who has really become a glide, wait, explode back. That is very different to block than Blount and confusing timing for the lineman.

Apparently Blount has been an issue in the locker room for over a month now. If thats the case I say cut him. Sign a third guy and elevate Archer to no 2 and see what the kid has. Let him do what is most natural to him run the ball from the RB position. Maybe that will help with his confidence. Ben Jarvis is availble.

We've already seen what Archer has. Nothing. I loved that screen that Archer dropped because he was afraid of getting hit, then looked like he got hit head on by an 18 wheeler after taking a glancing blow to the shoulder.

If he's that much of a cancer, then release him. Bring in a guy off the street or from the PS and let him play. Other teams bring in PS guys and they contribute immediately. Why the hell can't the Steelers...some of these guys can play and have fresh legs...so ride them for the rest of the season.

Dri Archer... goal line back... lol...

seriously RBs are a dime a dozen. Talk to him, give him an ultimatum... if he walks... move on.

Yeah, I thought it was really strange when I realized he wasn't returning kickoffs, much less getting any reps on offense. But I didn't hear anything about Blount being hurt, and Bell was gashing them play after play. It didn't seem like he needed to be spelled. Frankly, I have never understood that RB by committee approach, especially when your starter is showing you what we saw from Bell last night.

Blount thought he was coming in to be Batman to Bell's Robin (not in terms of work load, but this two headed monster and he had the experience). And that might have even been the Steeler's intention. However, these things evolve. Their back is to the wall. You can't schedule things now. It is fight for every yard and score. They need to win 4 of the remaining 5 games to get a sure playoff spot. Either you are with that or you are gone. I'd never want a guy who didn't want the ball, or didn't believe he deserved it more, but you have to channel it properly.

Coach Cool Shades says there's obviously nothing to see here. Everything's under control.

Someone needs to tell him to shape up or he will shipped out. We certainly can use him, but not at the expense of the TEAM. If he's butthurt because he didn't get a carry, then he needs to grow a set.
I appreciate that he is a competitor and wants the ball but at the same time he is getting paid a bunch of money so he should just cash his checks and shut up.

I do, too. He doesn't want to stand on the sidelines and just collect a paycheck. I admire that and he is a competitor. That's why I don't think he will be released, but if he's a cancer in the locker room, as it's being reported, then that's a different story.

If I was being paid what he is I would be happy to sit on the bench or be the waterboy or scrape dirt off everybody else's cleats.

J/k of course, I get that they all want to play. My 11 year old is barely playing right now and he knows better than to throw a tantrum about it. He's there supporting his team and high fiving them as they come off the field. Some of these guys just don't seem to get how freaking lucky they are just to be on the field at all.

Ben Tate

Released by Browns. Dump Blount and pick him up as backup? Tate griped about situation in Cleveland, but he signed there to be starter. I'd think he would sign as backup now and be OK with role as he was in Texas. Of course, Cleveland may sign Blount, who is a jerk, but can put together a string of good games (as he did in Tampa and NE).

Bell should be used like Murray in Dallas. Pitt does not owe Blount ****. Bell is the featured back. Bell should get all the carries he can handle..

If there is a running back that should be released, it should be Dri Archer, it most definitely is not Blount. He's pissed off and wants to contribute. And I'm sure he will get his opportunity soon.

Willie Parker was a GREAT back until the wheels were run off him. I'm all for getting the most out of Bell, but it also makes sense to spell him now and then.

I think Blount is a punk and a complete tool, but you may as well use him as YOUR tool. Let the knucklehead bash his skull into the pile a few times. I can see from the stats (I was unfortunately stuck at the brewery last night so I didn't see the game,) that Leveon was having a great game and frankly we probably needed every damn yard from him, but still - it does seem as though Blount is a bit light in carries this season.

On the other hand, it's not like the Steelers are kicking *** and taking names and can just roll in guys to spell the starters in the late stages of the games. We kind of need every bit of talent we have to squeak out a win against these bottom-of-the-barrel teams.

So what did Blount do that is so minor that it doesn't warrant being released by the Steelers? If you don't know, I don't know how you can make this comment.

So far Blount has:

1) Got caught by police after smoking blunts with Bell and a floozie.
a) Claimed the excess marijuana as his own when questioned by police (unfortunately, so did Bell)

2) Walked off the field and deserted/quit on his teammates while the game was still in progress (I tweeted Charlie Batch last night and asked if he had ever had that happen when he was playing ... his answer was a resounding "NEVER").

3) Pissed off some of his teammates so much prior to this incident that they were lobbying Tomlin to cut him. (apparently they also thought he was being a bad influence on Bell).

4) Pissed off at least one of his teammates so much as a result of this incident that they advocated leaving him in Nashville.

I see major stuff here, not minor. If it's allowed to continue, Blount will actually be the cancer that it is being speculated that he is. Also, this is an instance where Tomlin should be looking at available FA, practice squad(s), etc. Because he most definitely should be thinking about cutting Blount if only to send a message to "HIS" team that divisive behavior/actions won't be tolerated. Some of y'all are fond of pointing out what Darth Hoodie would do in situations. Fact is, if Tomlin were the Hoodie, Blount's *** would have been packing his bags as soon as the plane touched down.

I'd give Blount another chance.

He'd probably end up with the Colts or Broncos, teams the Steelers could end up playing down the line.

Cut that SOB today

we don't need his ****
