Go Bernie bots! Vote 3rd party! Go Green Party!
Green Party, Eyeing the 2020 Presidential Race, Prepares for the Midterms
The Greens want no part of Democratic Party’s ascendant left wing: As much as they may loathe President Trump, they say several issues — including corporate donations and support for capitalism — have rendered both the Democrats and the Republican Party rotten to the core.
A wave of liberal excitement has raised hopes for a “blue wave” in the midterms and empowered a new crop of progressive Democrats, like the democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But it has also paid dividends for the Green Party, whose formal endorsement of anticapitalism in 2016 helped set them apart from the Democrats and contributed to a swell of new members, many of them young people and ex-Democrats embittered by Mr. Sanders’ primary loss.
The Greens find themselves looking optimistically toward the 2020 presidential election, but it is unclear who their standard-bearer would be. Jill Stein, the party’s nominee in 2012 and 2016, said in an interview that she would like to see the party cultivate new leaders.
Greens bristle at the “spoiler” accusation, which they say ignores poll data that suggested many of Ms. Stein’s 2016 supporters either would not have voted if she had not been on the ballot or would have voted for Mr. Trump.
“Candidates have to earn votes, they don’t own votes,” Ms. Stein said. “That in a nutshell is the problem with the Democrats, it’s the arrogance of thinking they own the system.”

The Democrats will have to deal with the Green party, which could take a small percentage of votes away from the Democratic party when they are on the ballot. While losing 2% might not sound like a lot of votes, it can swing an election if that 2% would have voted Democrat if a Green party candidate was not on the ballot!
I actually think the Green party should be strategically funded by conservatives at times in areas where a green candidate can take away votes that would have went Democratic if they were off the ticket. And when I say funded, I'm not talking a lot of money, rather just enough to get the message out there to the tree huggers and green thumbs. Let them become the fly in the ointment that just won't go away. You'll see increased in-fighting between Dem's and Greens.
Another problematic area for Democrats are their newer politicians who identify themselves a socialist. What welcome targets.
