Nothing official, but there is this:

Brett Keisel @bkeisel99 · 11m
There's no place like home.

And this:

Ed Bouchette ‏@EdBouchette 1m
Sources close to Brett Keisel tell me he is close to a deal that will bring him back to #Steelers. Had offer from Cards, turned it down

One more update:

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter · 3m
Steelers and DE Brett Keisel have reached agreement. Keisel back to Pittsburgh, per league source.

yes make it happen !

That is good news !! DA Beard is hopefully back !!

I love the bearded one to death, but have we not learned our lesson in keeping some players to long or bringing them back. Keisel will always be a Steeler favorite and deservingly so ., some time it time to move on with new players.

Hmmm. This says that they are disappointed in somebody. My guess is Jarvis. They probably think they need another pass rusher.

How does Keisel fit in and who starts at left defensive end?

There is nothing on Steelers.com about this yet.

you only had a NT converting to DE in Cam Thomas and a rookie. Thinking OLBer Jarvis Jones had nothing to do with the signing...............

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd be interested in seeing your thoughts and how you got to Jarvis as the person they may be disappointed in. Keisel doesn't play OLB and is a lil too long in the tooth to be counted on for his pass rushing ability.

I think he is another DL that has experience. I think he ups the talent to what we have got. Regardless of who he takes place of, by mid season he won't be a starter.
He may not even be a starter currently. He will definitely spell someone or be spelled by someone. Brett is a little veterany to be full time starter.

Adam Schefter is reporting it. Nice. One more time around for the Beard.

I think Cam Thomas stays as a backup.

I think they rotate Keisel and Tuitt, until Tuitt is ready to start full time.

Will be interesting to see if McCullers makes it now with one more body along the DL............

Yes thats my question what does this mean for McCullers and Mauro?

I'd rather see Keisel take the spot that some had penciled in for Arnfelt or Mauro (sp)

Thanks for the more specifics, I always have a hard time remembering names.

Welcome back Kiesel. I think many are forgetting that Kiesel was quietly having a pretty good season last year. I thought he looked real solid early on before his injury. He isn't going to be the started but he will add depth and leadership.

Right, but are you putting in Thomas or Tuitt? I can see how it could work both ways, one way better than the other.

Probebly to help Tuitt adjust and give more depth, my guess Nick Williams nor Arnfiet have shown they can be reliable primary back ups, 15-25 reps a game and the beard can help in the 2-4-5 with him and Cam Thomas in the middle.
What would be more benificaial is a return of the 3-3-5
DE Heyward
NT Kesiel
DE Tuitt
OLB Worlids
ILB Timmons
OLB Jones
OLB/S Shazier
CB Taylor
CB Allen
FS Mitchell
SS Troy

They may figure that in Mauro, Arnfelt and Hemer they have essentially the same type of player. One or two of them should be around to put on the practice squad.

I don't think it impacts McCullers too much.

Thomas is newish as a DE. To me whats the difference at the position (at this time) with Tuitt with a lot of potential and raw and Thomas with journeyman potential who has played in the NFL, but nothing special?

Not a lot. For me you put Keisel in on run downs and Tuitt on passing downs............ Or some combo of the two.

I liked Keisel but bringing him back says they are really disappointed along the line. I suspect that the front office is going to risk loosing a promising rookie for one more year of da beard. We have Heyward, Tuitt, Thomas, Williams, Arnfelt, McCullers, Mc Clendon plus a few more with out the beard. If we add him do we now keep 5 out of the remaining ten. Tuitt, Heyward, McClendon, Keisel, McCullers, which means we keep only one out of Williams, Arnfelt, Thomas, plus the others will be cut loose. Or did someone else get a season ending boo boo that we don't know about?

I really think sacrificing a rookie for the beard is not a smart move unless we have someone going to injured reserve that can not be grabbed up by another team.

thing is who has starting experience at DE?

Steelers had a lot of options but also a lot of question marks.

To me this is really more about lack of experience and less about disappointment................

I very happy with this. I love da beard. I still hope however we let the young guys get plenty of reps. A rotation is a good thing. Keep people fresh.

I just don't see where this said anything about how they feel the line is playing. I expected Brett to be brought back after training camp concluded and that's what happened. Brett has been in Pittsburgh all offseason. I have a feeling a handshake and a wink was given when he parted ways with them earlier this year.
