Brett Keisel Returning?

so he's still signed for 2 years

got it

No actually there is zero chance that happens. Lebeau has never put 3 DLs on the field on passing downs. Just because you can dream it, doesn't mean it will happen.

If Jarvis isn't getting the job done, you will see either Arthur Moats in his place or you will see Lebeau moving the chess pieces around (he'll do that in any event) and have Shazier come off the edge with Jarvis dropping to the middle etc.

The reason it hasn't happened is because the OLBs have always been the best pass rushers. Lebeau has never had DEs with this much pass rush ability either.

Lebeau essentially played Polamalu as a LB last year. That never happened before either but it allowed the best players on the field.

If Jarvis or Moats step up and become competent pass rushers then they will play, but if Jarvis is a non factor like last year and Moats isn't much better then the best lineup includes 3 DL plus Worilds. Lebeau showed last year that he will change his scheme to get the best players on the field.

Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

No point in any more back-and-forth. I won't remember this debate in January when I could come back and say "Told ya!".

And BTW, Lebeau has played Polamalu as a LB before. See January 2006...Tyrone Carter would come in to play safety while Troy bumped down to LB to create a 4-2-5.

Last point: you really do see what you want to see sometimes, and in this case everything is through the prism of "Jarvis sucks!". I wouldn't be surprised if I went back into the "Steelers sign Lance Moore" thread to see you commenting that we made the move because the offense clearly needs to compensate for our lack of pass rush from the ROLB spot.

the way i see it ... and I could be wrong ... Keisel would give us better value as the last guy to make the roster than say ... Landry Jones.
in fact, if you consider that Keisel could be taking Landry Jones spot on the roster, then it's a good move.
Not to say that Keisel will be playing QB, but that he would give us a better shot at winning than Landry fkn Jones.

Maybe Shazier should play corner in the Nickel and bring Spence on the field too. He's fast enough to do it!
