Business Operations, Socialism and math, a love story.

To help jump-start change, Disney says she wants to be taxed more.

Clearly, does not understand that she CAN pay more taxes. She chooses not to be. Why?

Clearly, does not understand that she CAN pay more taxes. She chooses not to be. Why?

Because she doesn't actually WANT to pay more taxes, she is simply not missing out on her opportunity to do a little virtue signaling.

I pointed out in a Yahoo comment that the best thing she could likely do for the repressed employees of Disney would be to donate all her stock in the company to the employees. True, she may not be worth 120 Million anymore, but just think how empowering that would be to all those employees - to OWN a bit of Disney themselves!

Do it Abigail. Do it for the employees so they don't have to eat out of the trash.

I wasn't defending Socialism, I was trying to illustrate what it is. It isn't the CEO of a public company taking a lower salary.

Communism - government owns the means of production

Socialism - workers own the means of production

Capitalism - shareholders own the means to production

If your talking economics, I haven't heard any Dems calling for Socialism, some are just calling for the government to subsidize additional programs.

Even within capitalism there are a lot of businesses that are employee owned and very successful.

I was merely responding to Disney's call to Iger to give up 60 million of his salary for the employees benefit, 21.

I'm interested though. While you do have generic templates for most of the 'isms' there is quite often some cross contamination between philosophies. For example the U.S. has aspects of capitalism as well as socialism and even a messed up upside-down kind of fascism in its economic makeup.

What exactly would you consider of the progressive left's call to substantially increase taxes on the wealthy as well as corporations and businesses in order to accomodate more comprehensive social programs including a standard base wage, universal healthcare and free college for everyone? Where would that fit in your 'isms'?

Sincerely, that particular set of demands by the new progressives doesn't really fit well anywhere. It's closer in many aspects to true fascism, but I'm interested in your take.

If your talking economics, I haven't heard any Dems calling for Socialism ...

Then you are just not listening, 21. Here's how Bernie and Annoying Oral Convolutions are calling for socialism:

  • Have government, not private companies or private citizens, take over 100% of healthcare in the United States.
  • 15% of the economy - boom, now run by government, i.e., "owning the means of production and distribution."
  • Calling for a "living wage." That is, government takes money from citizens and gives it to ... bums.
  • Boom - government again controls the means of production, i.e., by taking profits and earnings that otherwise would be further means of production.
  • Three, controlling energy production, another 25% of the economy, via "regulation." You know that when a government "regulates" something by dictating how it is to be done, at what cost, and with what methods, government has taken over the means of production. You know that, don't you??
  • Boom!! 40% of the economy (health care, energy) now under direct government control. Not done yet ...
  • Take over construction by dictating how structures are built, what is used for the building, how large they are, how they are powered, what water usage is allowed.
  • Boom!! Another 10% of the economy under direct government control.
  • Then regulate how much employees must be paid, what benefits they must be provided, how much vacation they get, how much sick leave, and on and on.
  • Direct control of 50% of the economy, and indirect control over 100% of the economy, with the threat of jail or taking of private property.
  • Know what that is called, 21? Government owning the means of production.
  • Hey, you're right - that's not socialism, that's communism. Fess up, 21, you knew that.

Howcum theme parks weren't started in Socialist countries?
(Yes I know there is Euro Disney but it's never done that well.)

What are you talking about, Ron?!? Plenty of theme parks in communist and socialist utopias.

The most popular Russian ride, "Waiting for Bread." Always a huge line for this joyous jaunt.

The incredibly popular British ride, "Waiting for a Doctor. Waiting Longer for surgery." The ride's a killer!!

iu

Another Russian favorite, "Waiting for a Bus." The riders hope the bus gets them the @#$% out of that socialist paradise and Bernie favorite, Socialist Russia!!
