I can’t see it. If he can throw down the field now, how can he. Plus they are gonna lose some players prolly won’t be contender next year. Wyt?

If we win the SB i think he will retire. It also depends how the rest of the year goes. If he is struggling then i think he may hang it up. I do not believe he is physically healthy right now.

That premise isn't new. We shall see how the rest of the season transpires.

He’s going to be making 40mil next year... yep, he’s coming back and he’ll be extended. He’ll be playing the next 2-3 years.

Unfortunately probably true. I hope he comes back next year but god no on an extension, he is physically shot and slow.

The extension will be cap related. Almost have to. To reduce Ben's salary.

Ben doesn't make 40 mill next season, that's his cap hit. I believe a actually makes 19/20 mill. if his body feels good, he'll be extended 1 year. hopefully they can do it somehow with that second year not counting much against the cap if he retires after the 2021 season.

Yeah I see him as a Favre or Manning or Brady ... somebody is going to have to put his career down with a shotgun and the Steelers aren’t ready to go there yet

The only way that happens is if he physically cannot play anymore or if he demands to be cut after the Steelers draft a QB ...

yes. he will be back next year. it does kinda suck having all these young qbs winning games in todays nfl and us with Father time. But ben gives us the best chance of winning

At the risk of sounding like a waffler (Better than a **** waffle right?), I'd say it's a 50/50 proposition right now. And I'd say it will have a whole lot to to with how well he performs the next several weeks. If things keep deteriorating like they have been, I'd say he'll lean towards hanging them up. I'd love to see him come back for at least one more.

Its never been easier to find a qb these days though... passing isn’t a super tough thing anymore... i think development and system are way more important now...

Based on some of these threads.. we gotta be 2-11, not 11-2.

Yes. He has one more year left on his contract. I think he will retire after next season.

Be interesting to see if they extend Ben or not. Of course, there are others whose contracts expire after next year too. Is it worth it to extend Pouncey, DeCastro, Haden, Nelson, McDonald?
Then you have the no brainer of giving Watt and Fitzpatrick new contracts. But what about Edmunds? There's a helluva lot of cap space available in 2022 if you make some hard decisions about some of these guys.
