Call it here, do you see Ben Roethlisberger returning to Steelers next year

I have to say, I was expecting him to look a little better physically this week with somewhat of a normal week. Sadly, this is a third week of physical regression.

Win the Super Bowl, win the Super Bowl hell we can't even get a first down.. No one would be surprised either way.

He really needs to get on with his life's work.

if he does come back, i think this team is in trouble.

And on the books for $41 Million. Is the Ben we're seeing right now worth $41 MILLION?

Get a OL. That'll fix a lot of the issues Ben is having. Ben was on his back every time he had the ball longer than 2 seconds, absolutely pathetic.

Come on man. Ben was forcing throws, making inaccurate passes, and not seeing open guys all night. The line is soft but stop making excuses for him. He sucks

So sick of hearing this. Ever heard of progressions, or do you really think the QB is looking at every receiver on the field at the same time? I'll give you forcing the ball, but when the defense is dropping 7 and still getting pressure, there's not much choice other than taking a sack.

We’ll only save 19 of the 41 if Ben retires or we cut him..

That's a good chunk of money for a team that is $23 Million over the projected cap with only 36 (I think) players signed. Hell, if I'm Ben, I'm looking at next year's potential roster and wondering if I even want to play with the guys they'll eventually have on the team.

Now we get to go through years of them trying to figure out how to build a oline again. At least Ben wont be the QB getting killed while they try to figure it out.

And by then the D will be garbage again no doubt.

Cant wait!

He had a bad game. 30TDs and 10 INts, yeah he sucks....

Just cause you heard Louis Riddick say he wasn't seeing guys open... lol.

If Ben truly cares about this team he will retire after this season. His arm is inconsistent at best and weak and inaccurate at worst. Even worse, he looked like a scared rookie out there. Forcing the ball into coverage, locking on his preferred target, missing open guys, fumbling snaps. Man, was it ugly and as he ages another year he is not gonna get any better. No way the Steelers can pay $41mm next year for that level of play. I don't care if we do ONLY save half the salary cap hit, Steelers are set to lose some valuable players just coming into their prime due to the cap. $20 million in cap savings will go a long ways towards keeping the core in place. Force him out if you have to but hopefully he can smell the coffee and retire gracefully. This team has to start looking seriously at QBs either in the draft or in FA cause I don't think the future is on the roster. Did a cursory look at QBs entering the draft and this years crop look better than next years.

He's not leaving that money on the table, and they aren't cutting him either.

That was before the 800 drops by the WR's.

Not so much the case last night, was it? You're Ben's biggest fan -- I'd be interested to hear your honest opinion of his play yesterday.

If Ben wants to play much longer needs to STOP taking Wednesdays off & get in sync with his receivers

After another subpar game and a third loss in a row to an inferior opponent, there have to be some legitimate concerns from the FO moving forward with Ben as QB. Let me be open about this, he's one of my favorite players and I want to see him go out on his own terms. I also acknowledge the business side of football and setting up a winner for the future.

Taking a step back and thinking about it...if the Steelers cut Ben after the season, would anyone sign him? I don't think anyone would. Why not?

*He's physically breaking down. The deep ball hasn't been there all year. Don't let one perfect pass to Diontae Johnson sway your opinion. You can't forget the two grossly underthrown balls to Washington the past two weeks that would've been big gains or even TDs if he hits him in stride. He can still put zip on the ball, but its inconsistent at this point. He can't hit the tight windows with consistency. The lower body mechanics have been bad, throwing flat footed far too often. He used to be able to muscle the ball in there like his interception on third down when all of the Bengals' linebackers dropped. Instead he threw a soft INT.

*He doesn't want to get hit. Why is he getting rid of the ball so quickly? He doesn't want to take the physical pounding. There are very few long developing plays and other times when there are, he doesn't allow them to develop because he's looking for the short option. It doesn't help that the overrated pass blocking of this offensive line allows so much pressure.

*His play is limiting the offense. Blame the OC all you want, they adjusted last night and Ben just couldn't connect with his receivers like we're used to. Without a strong running game this year, he carried the team on his back. It looks like after all of these years he's finally getting tired and can't do it alone. The problem is every team in the NFL knows it and they're having an incredibly easy time defending this offense. All of the creativity in the world isn't going to make him mobile in the pocket, bring back his ability to thread the needle on every pass, or hit on those deep balls like he used to.

*I simply don't think he has a full healthy season in him. I don't mean physically injured, but rather physically limited. At some point you break down. These defenders are smart, fast, and strong. Ben isn't getting any better and I don't want to see his play fall off a cliff playing another season.

*It was not a coincidence that Schefter reported Ben wants to come back to play another season in the midst of this stretch that he's showing he doesn't have it anymore--and by "it," I mean franchise QB stuff.

I'm loyal to a fault to long-time Steelers players and I wanted to believe Ben could be out there for another 2-3 years, but my eyes didn't deceive me last night or the past few weeks. I am beginning to believe this is it for Ben and you better believe I will enjoy every second left in this season because we don't know the next time we'll have one of the greatest players in franchise history under center.
