Call it here, do you see Ben Roethlisberger returning to Steelers next year

Horrible Oline, non-existent running game, and wrs that drop every other pass, I'd say Ben is the least of the offenses worries. Two weeks in a row that the QB god, the greatest that ever lived Mahomes made a couple horrible downfield throws, one went right in and out of a saints defenders hands.
Mayfield who every one is going crazy over, has thrown 22 tds in a clean pocket, while only throwing 1 while under pressure. Ben is under pressure in 2.5 seconds on the majority of his passes.
Why wouldn't he come back with this defense?

Yes and I hope he trains like Rocky did for Ivan Drago in Rocky 4.

If he wanted to he could literally come in the best shape of his life. Now if by some magic chance the season ends with the Steelers being the last team standing, it would be tempting to go the Jerome Bettis route.

Be interesting to see if they extend Ben or not. Of course, there are others whose contracts expire after next year too. Is it worth it to extend Pouncey, DeCastro, Haden, Nelson, McDonald?
Then you have the no brainer of giving Watt and Fitzpatrick new contracts. But what about Edmunds? There's a helluva lot of cap space available in 2022 if you make some hard decisions about some of these guys.

My guess is they will extend everyone except McDonald and maybe Vince Williams... they may let one of tge two cbs walk and give cam Sutton some of that money... ... the Steelers wont intentionally take a down year to rebuild

At the beginning of his career Ben said he wanted to win 5 Super Bowls, 3 more to go so yeah he'll be back. LOL

of course he won't

The steelers will trade their entire draft so they can get lawrence, then trade Ben for multiple picks to rebuild the OL

or not

A month ago everyone was saying he should be the MVP of the league, now people are saying he's not going to be back next year. Lol.

Gee, I wonder why.

A month ago, Ben had 9 triple-digit rated games out of the 11 he'd played, and 1 game below 98.7. In his last four games, he hasn't hit a rating of 90 in any of those, and just recorded a season-low 65.9 mark against Buffalo (the lowest number by an opposing quarterback versus the Bills all season except for 1 game against the Jets).

I can understand why some people may have concerns.

If he can still play effectively he'll come back. If he feels his body is done he won't be.

If he wins a SB this season, I see him hanging up the cleats.
He wants one more championship.

Meh....Let's just beat the Bengals tonight.

I think he might do one more regardless of what happens.

Last offseason was spent rehabbing. I have wondered about his health and if he can do it anymore, but I have to remember what last offseason was about. This offseason can be about strengthing the arm and other things. I see him giving it one more because of that.

No. I think he plays for another couple years actually. Obviously it will be on him and how he feels but he’s still better than most people in the league. I’m also tired of hearing about about him throwing deep bull crap. He had major arm surgery and missed a whole year and no real training camp/off-season. He will be fine and connect on some of those deep passes. I would rather see them invest some more in the oline in specific our tackles and find a good running back.

No I also don’t want Wentz, Stafford, or any other castaway from another team. I want to see Ben in Black and gold as long as his body holds up.

He'll be back unless he's injured again. His cap hit is too high for the Steelers to even think about cutting him.

That was before the 800 drops by the WR's.

Ben's smarter than he is given credit for. If the team is hit hard in free agency in 2021, and he thinks the window is shut, he might opt to retire.

60/40 he stays mostly because of how much he's getting paid. Heck no he's not worth $41.25 million next year. Tomlin is on the verge of another epic late season collapse, and whomever we play in the playoffs is going to beat the Steelers badly going off their last three games.

We'll see how it plays out. A loss to the 2-10-1 Bengals and its OVER. If we go 2-0 vs the Colts and Bengals to close the season, I'll have hope. Either way, come 2021 I'm telling ya this team is on the decline. Up again the cap. No OL. Declining older players who are over paid. Get ready to lose some good football players in free agency.

I have changed my mind about Tomlin. I want to keep him for the 2021 season especially if Ben leaves because we need to pick a franchise QB in 2022. After that, let the broom sweep him and the older players out.

Imma stand by my earlier prediction. Whether or not they win it all, especially if they do but even if they don't.......NO.

I see too may negatives to his continued career as a QB.

His wife wants him out,
his kids are now a serious part of his life as they get older,
his health is still good enough to not warrant further risk
he definitely doesn't want for financial security

.....and lastly the elephant in the room......The cap situation and Steelers free agency's looming ahead in 2021 may just put the teams ability to retain sufficient talent for short term success an untenable situation.

If we put ourselves in his position, what would we do ?

Excellent news!

He’s gonna play one more year...

Is his cap hit really over 41 million next year?

41,250,000 per Over the Cap. Most of that is prorated signing bonus already paid. rest is 4M base sal and 15M roster bonus.
