Call your shot - who will the Steelers take Thursday night

The next-best position to QB for upgrading the offense: WR. Olave from Ohio St. looks to me like a solid pick.
Right here! My shot was called at the end of the season and Frenchy has it right.

If he falls, Jordan Davis. If he doesn't, Chris Olave. Just throwing sh!t at the wall here.

My pick about two months ago was Davis. Don't think he will be there. If it's gotta be a q. Then I'm going Ridder followed by Pickett.

I think (in 1) Ridder and Willis are my least favorite QB picks out of the top tier. Their inaccuracies could be lingering issues. There is enough concern IMO neither should be first round picks. Although I did like Ridder's senior bowl showing. I also like his size and mobility. Pick 20 should be more of a stable pick. Just don't see the value there. Oh yeah Willis looked like a carbon copy of Lamar Jackson in that senior bowl. Just want no part of that kid.

Oh I will say out of the two I hacked on I think Ridder has the best chance of overcoming his inaccuracies sort of like Allen did with Buffalo.

Still think the tier is a bunch of 2nd round value being pushed up....

We have a bit of an opposite view on this. First, I don't think any of the QBs should be Rd 1 picks. But, of those who are being bandied about, I like Willis, Corral and Ridder if we "HAVE" to take one at 20. I'm placing a premium on upside/potential growth if you're taking one of these guys. I want nothing to do with the Mayfield clone from NC. I just don't see any upside to taking him. Pickett I've already stated my concerns about. I know you like his quick release and that he has some mobility. But, there's just something about him that screams Couch/Carr (the older one)/Jones (the NYG QB) to me. Sometimes playing it "safe" bites ya in the azz.

Corral is my favorite of the bunch a good release with a shakey offense might be a good marriage....he has other attributes I like too.(accuracy, mobility)

If I had to pick a favorite for two it might be Ridder. I do like his potential overall. Really don't get the upside with Willis. That isn't just your take just in general. For me his negatives out weigh his positives. His senior bowl performance if anything showcased my concerns. You don't want a Baker, I don't want an Action Jackson.

I am close to that take with Howell.(sp) Like Willis his senior year went into the wrong direction.

Upside probably has a different take with each person you speak with. Shows you the underwhelming nature of this class. Just filled with a decent amount of questions.

Oh on Baker the real one. I could be wrong but I think if he gets with the right team we could see a Tannehill type rebirth. Maybe Seattle?

Anywho

Gut feeling............. Matt Corral

At the end of the day, the steelers put far too much work into the QBs not to take one. The attended pro days and interviewed all of them. Why Corral? He's the perfect fit for Canada's offense and he already ran Kiffin's RPO heavy (damn near exclusive) offense. Canada's offense may be less complicated.

Steelers met with Corral at the combine, in Pitt for a pre draft visit, and at the Ole Miss pro day Tomlin, Colbert and Canada all attended.

When the Steelers didn't fire Canada, it was a vote of confidence that they still want his RPO offense. Rudolph ran some of those concepts at Ok State. Trubisky is athletic and also suited to it. Corral is the best QB in this draft if that is what you want to do. Willis did some too, but Corral is far ahead in understanding and he's the more accurate passer.

If the Steelers draft Corral, he may actually be ahead of rudolph and trubisky in understanding the offense. If he looks good preseason, then the steelers may be able to trade away Rudolph or Trubisky.

Interesting take and touches on scheme which we don't talk too much about but an excellent post.

Personally, i do not think they should draft a QB. They are sticking with Canada. The whole point if the RPO style offense is that you can get by with a lesser talent at QB. So roll the dice with Trubisky and Rudolph this year. If there was a Josh Allen in this draft, then I'd say go get him, but there isn't.

Who should they take? I think they should take WR Jahan Dotson. Why? Because he's like Dionte Johnson with great hands. DJ will be too expensive to keep. They should draft Dotson to replace DJ.

If you can't afford to keep DJ then WR is an enormous need. It's still a need even if you can somehow keep DJ. Dotson is the best fit for Canada's scheme. I think Olave is a bit of a Pus. He's fast and will be great if he lands someplace like Dallas who will send him vertical a lot. But the Steelers need somebody to do some dirty work.

Think I'm a homer? I'll double down.

Round 2 pick should be S Jaquan Brisker. He's the best S in the draft.

Yeah yeah, Kyle Hamilton. He's big and clunky. He's good but Brisker is the better athlete and more versatile. I want a versatile S to get the most of Minkah. Edmunds is a glorified LB. That limits the steelers coverages. I want a S that can be interchangable with Minkah. Each play the QB doesn't know pre snap who is covering and who is going down into the box.

I've heard talk of Cine from GA as well. Again, i think he's a box guy and he'll be good at that but Brisker just brings more to the table in coverage while also being able to play in the box.

Steelers will trade up and pick Hamilton S Notre Dame.
I think they swap picks with jets throwing johnson in and getting an extra pick even swapping bush for q Williams in a bust swap… Steelers get Hamilton, q Williams, picking up a wr in 2nd… they been acting like they have a trade locked in that’s for sure

Very long shot here

Steelers trade back with Detroit

Pick up a 2nd and a 5th rounder

and they take Logan Hall out of UH with the last pick in the 1st round
Man, I like Logan hall could be game changer playing opposite Watt we got qbs to get after in our division Hall is a freak!

I think they go QB and all in for Canada's system...if Willis is there. If not, Davis...if Davis is gone, Olave.

Other random draft thoughts brought to you by insomnia and a sale on Old Forester whiskey. It’s not bad.

Hutchinson is overrated. He wasn’t even the best pass rusher on Michigan. He’s a hustle guy and will be good vs the run but I dont think he’ll be a game wrecker that a #1 pick should be. He’ll be like Ryan Kerrigan, pretty good but worth a top pick?

Whoever drafts Pickett (in rd 1) is sending an SOS signal that they think they are getting fired and need to win at least 9 games to save their job.

Desmond Ridder is a nice guy but so is my mailman. I don’t want him playing QB either. Ridder struggles with accuracy at all levels. He’ll miss on screens. Sorry but I don’t see the reason to take on that project.

If Stingley is so awesome, why did he suck so bad for half his career?

George Karlaftis was born in Greece and he’s underrated. Also, you should Google the recipe for Spanikorizo. It’s Greek spinach rice. Simple recipe and delicious.

I really like CB Marcus Jones from Houston but he’s the worlds tallest midget. He has to be a slot only. Sutton is better in the slot. Do the Steelers still want to play Sutton outside? Get some DBs with ball skills.

Derek Carr reminds me of General Zod for some reason.

Najee is a good player but drafting RB in round 1 is a mistake unless he’s a freak. I think Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker, who will likely be 2nd round picks this year are better prospects than Najee.

I like Purdue WR David Bell. He ran a slow 40 at the combine but I don’t care. The guy knows how to get open and is a reliable possession receiver. Funny how the draft seems to look past little things like being able to run good routes and actually catch the ball in favor of running fast in shorts. Make a list of the best WR of all time and it’s not a track team. Is Bell a #1? No but #2 is a thing.

Good thing they drafted Freiermuth last year because this years TE class sucks.

DT Davis from Georgia is a physocal specimen but he’s a 2 down player on the Steelers. He was a 2 down player on Georgia. Do you spend a 1 on a 2 down player? I don’t think he gets past Chargers.

Steelers should find a sucker to take Devin Bush.

Why are there no B batteries?

It seems Eagle Hemp, Keto and CBD Gummies are getting a lot of support on this forum, but I think as usual the Steelers will go in a direction that isn't popular with the fans and draft Derma Glow

Davis will be the pick even if they have to trade up a few spots to get him. He's big, fast, and athletic for a man his size. He will be a significant contributor on early downs this year. After his 1st year, he will become more of a disruptor on all 3 downs. He has the speed and strength to get to the passer and/or collapse the pocket. We haven't had that since Big Snack and it is vital for this D.

If Davis is gone, they should NOT look at any QB in this draft. They should look for a surefire speedster at WR in Rd. 1. There should be more than one sitting there to choose from.

I actually like Ridder and Corral the best in this draft. But not a first round like. If they take either in the second I would be happy. I’m hoping for Jordan Davis or anything else but a quarterback in the first
