Call your shot - who will the Steelers take Thursday night

I don’t want this but it’s my prediction: we will trade up for Willis. Shades loves him and Colbert wants to go out saying he left us with the future QB in place 🙄

Like most drafts, opinions on value are diverse after picks in the late teens influenced by team needs, schemes etc.

Whenever we draft in an area like 20 and the players even out, I'm one of many who want to trade back especially when the Steelers need more picks and have so many needs.

There are allot of teams with two picks in round one, you can probably rule them out for a trade back from the second round for our pick at twenty. Most teams are not enamored with three first round picks arriving at the 5th year option and new contracts simultaneously.

So I'm looking at Atlanta, they only have one 1rst round pick, they need everyone and also could be interested in a QB if the right one is there at 20.

So the Steelers trade out of the first, send number 20 and third round number 84 to the dirty birds for their two picks in round 2, numbers 43 and 58, their third round number 74 and their 6th pick. If your looking at point value Atlanta 1023, Pitt 1020.

There should be at least one at each of the following players that will be available with our three picks in round two and one early round three. I'm listing by position and who has a "chance" of still being around not necessarily where they should go first.

Wide receivers:
John Metchie
Skyy Moore
Christian Watson
David Bell
George Pickens
And a ton of other undervalued receivers.

Safeties:
Lewis Cine
Jalen Pitre
Jaquan Brisker
Nick Cross

DL
Travis Jones
Phidarian Mathis
Perrion Winfrey

Also there's going to be some OL and CBs who are also value with four picks between pick 43 an 74.

I want a left tackle, but the top 4 will be gone well before pick 20.

If they want to take a QB, the smart move would be to trade back somewhere in the 28-32 range. Still get your guy hopefully, plus some extra picks this year or next and have 5 years to develop him. Not a big fan of any in this draft, I would wait until next year to try to find one.

I would NOT trade up under any circumstances. No player in this draft is worth mortgaging the future for.

Jordan Davis will be gone. Don't be surprised if he is gone even before the Ravens pick at #14. Maybe there will be a run on QB's like in 2013. That is the only way I can see Davis falling to us.

Last time we drafted O-line in the 1st was 2012 (DeCastro), 2010 (Pouncey) and 2002 (Kendal Simmons). Its time to start investing in the line. Tyler Linderbuam SHOULD be there at pick 20. He starts from day one and then we have 4 guys fighting for 2 OG starting spots while we hope Chuks and Moore will take a step forward. If he is gone then take BPA, probably a WR. We haven't drafted a WR in the 1st round since Santonio Holmes, though we have had good success finding talent later in the draft.

We could also trade back and pick up a guy like T Bernhad Raimann in the late 1st early second round.

I believe that everything hinges on what Carolina does at Pick 6. If they select a QB, Either Pickett or Willis, there is going to be panic for several teams, including the Steelers to move up and grab the other. If the Steelers lose the battle and REEEEEEEEALY reach for Ridder or Corral imma be p i s s e d

Personally, i do not think they should draft a QB. They are sticking with Canada. The whole point if the RPO style offense is that you can get by with a lesser talent at QB. So roll the dice with Trubisky and Rudolph this year. If there was a Josh Allen in this draft, then I'd say go get him, but there isn't.

Who should they take? I think they should take WR Jahan Dotson. Why? Because he's like Dionte Johnson with great hands. DJ will be too expensive to keep. They should draft Dotson to replace DJ.

If you can't afford to keep DJ then WR is an enormous need. It's still a need even if you can somehow keep DJ. Dotson is the best fit for Canada's scheme. I think Olave is a bit of a Pus. He's fast and will be great if he lands someplace like Dallas who will send him vertical a lot. But the Steelers need somebody to do some dirty work.

Think I'm a homer? I'll double down.

Round 2 pick should be S Jaquan Brisker. He's the best S in the draft.

Yeah yeah, Kyle Hamilton. He's big and clunky. He's good but Brisker is the better athlete and more versatile. I want a versatile S to get the most of Minkah. Edmunds is a glorified LB. That limits the steelers coverages. I want a S that can be interchangable with Minkah. Each play the QB doesn't know pre snap who is covering and who is going down into the box.

I've heard talk of Cine from GA as well. Again, i think he's a box guy and he'll be good at that but Brisker just brings more to the table in coverage while also being able to play in the box.
If it's close between Olave and Dotson, I take Olave - just don't like players who quit on their team.

CB, WR, ILB, or DL (but not Wyatt with his character issues) is my hope

I have a horrible feeling we will draft a QB in round 1 this morning and only a run on them early in the draft will save us from setting the franchise back 4 years Ala Kordell Stewart trying to cover for a mistake, at least Stewart wasn't a 1st round pick tho...
I don't know. I don't want them taking a QB, either. But it seems like there is no sure thing that's gonna be there at 20, regardless. I think the mistake would be moving up and trading away picks now or in the future. But if they stay put and a QB falls to them I don't see it as franchise altering, because there seems to be questions about any guy who would be there. Jordan Davis for all his attributes didn't make that many plays at Georgia, for example. I question also taking corners not because of the player, but because of the rules. Can there be...is there really any shutdowns anymore? Again, not because of talent but limits with the rules. WRs? ehh...

If there is an OT there, thats where I'd go. I'd race up there if Penning is available.

I'll mainline a horse's dose of fentanyl

1) Davis (will have to trade up)
2) Wyatt
3) Linderbaum

There was an article on how the STEELERS took Wyatt off their board due to his history (domestic violence).

Your #3 would be good pick as well.

Great post KStilly, thanks

Would be great if we ended up with these three out of just moving back in the draft.

I saw that too, but that incident was two years ago. I take that report with a grain of salt. Looking at talent wise, he's a gamer.

Davis, Olave, Linderbaum, London, in that order.

Actually, as long as it isn't reaching for a QB, I'd be good. We roll with we what we got. Mitch was never used properly.

Hard to tell who will be there. If I’m drafting then it’s Jordan Davis, Tyler Linderbraum, Kyle Hamilton, or Trevor Penning and in that order.

Linderbaum. If you don't get that O-line straight, it won't matter who the QB is.

So I predict they'll draft Willis, and likely trade up to get him.

The Steelers didn't meet with olave or other 1st round WRs, they seem to invest their time with mid round WRs which makes me think they don't have them as valued as we do regarding need.

The main FA investment was IOL, both players signed can play center, I doubt we go for another one in the first round

no offense, but Green can play center, too. I'd rather have a true center anchoring our offense. We missed out on Humphrey and I hope they don't do it again with Linderbaum.

With the lack of depth at OT, S, CB, WR and even ILB (Bush will be gone next season), I will find it wrongly managed to take a C there

as I said Hall would be a long shot

If available in order would be
Davis
Hamilton
Hall
Olave
Best OT on the board

I doubt they trade back and really hope they don't piss away draft capital to move up to go after one of the QBs

whoever is picked, I hope they prove worthy and help get the Steelers #7 and more

I like your picks but also want to include your final statement as a MUST.

I don’t think the Steelers draft him but just going through my own research I like Christain Watson reminds me of a bigger fast cooper kupp has that fast twitch change of direction most big receivers dont have… then 4.3 speed to burn i know the defense needs the picks Travis Jones be a great Steelers obviously Jordan Davis and I’m hoping Jones will be there in second but “the pick is in… Christian Watson, wide receiver”
