Call your shot - who will the Steelers take Thursday night

I don’t think the Steelers draft him but just going through my own research I like Christain Watson reminds me of a bigger fast cooper kupp has that fast twitch change of direction most big receivers dont have… then 4.3 speed to burn i know the defense needs the picks Travis Jones be a great Steelers obviously Jordan Davis and I’m hoping Jones will be there in second but “the pick is in… Christian Watson, wide receiver”

I'd be happy with Christian as well !!!!

Salute the nation

I hope for Davis, but fear a QB is coming…as soon as the pick is announced I’ll welcome them to the nation and root for them no matter how pissed I am tho

But if Davis is on the board and we pass I may have to go tear some **** down first

To throw out a dark horse possibility - since the Steelers didn’t pick up Bush’s option and they like to draft LBers in the first round more than any other position… Devin Lloyd if he falls to 20.

longshot...

Trade with the Jets to get their #10 pick.
Our 1st, Devin Bush and a conditional 4th next year.

We take Jordan Davis. Tomlin does like him. He'd SOLIDIFY the defense at the point of attack. our DL has sagged in recent years, and our best DLs are getting long in the tooth.

Yeah Papa...

I was going with Dean also until they signed Jack...

Now Im predicting Chris Olave - WR - OSU
I was watching Kentucky vs Georgia last night and he is a heat seeking missle around the ball. My thinking is that he ticks all the boxes - dinner, team captain, smart, clean bill of health and no off field problems of note. He could move into a hybrid ILB/SS position spelling either Bush or Edmunds, like Carnell Lake. He is athletic enough and is a football player. A versitle "chess piece" for the defense.

The Steelers didn't meet with olave or other 1st round WRs, they seem to invest their time with mid round WRs which makes me think they don't have them as valued as we do regarding need.
They did meet with Wilson and Dotson at the combine. I think I remember reading that they scheduled Zoom meetings with both of them and Olave during the pre-draft visit process.
They were pretty sneaky in using the Zoom meetings to fly under the radar this year.

I second that emotion!

Lots greats players I don’t get too bummed for the most part during draft time colbert has seldom drafted my favorites but for the most part he has kept us in the hunt but ya last couple Steelers seemed to have lost their mojo teams not only don’t fear us they actually laugh at us like the last 2 playoff games… in days of old if this happened all 4 top picks would be defense defense then defense and then defense… but? we have young qbs now even in our own division so this draft will tell the tell. Draft a crappy qb to sit on the shelf with the hope he might be good some day? Go defense and attemp to get our mojo workin! well see… GoSteelers!

My pick:

20. Kaiir Elam CB Florida

Willis and Corral are gone by 17, Davis goes top-12, Williams top-15 so Steelers know that the draft has just four elite CB's: Gardner, Stingley, McDuffie and Elam. None will be remotely available at 52. A very good WR or DL will be there at 52.

Steelers ... MAKE IT SO!!

Much like you would have had to tear some **** down if the Steelers had passed on Casey Hampton for Tom Brady?

"Yeah, but Tom Brady in the 6th round" has become a mantra. Like most mantras, it is a grain of truth in a giant bag of wrong.

The best QB's are taken early. Russell Wilson and Tom Brady are notable exceptions. I mean, look at recent Pro-Bowl QB's:

Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert, our own Big Ben, Drew Brees, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen, and Kirk Cousins.

What do ALL of those QB's have in common, other than Tammy, Wilson and Cousins?

I don't know. I don't want them taking a QB, either. But it seems like there is no sure thing that's gonna be there at 20, regardless. I think the mistake would be moving up and trading away picks now or in the future. But if they stay put and a QB falls to them I don't see it as franchise altering, because there seems to be questions about any guy who would be there. Jordan Davis for all his attributes didn't make that many plays at Georgia, for example. I question also taking corners not because of the player, but because of the rules. Can there be...is there really any shutdowns anymore? Again, not because of talent but limits with the rules. WRs? ehh...

If there is an OT there, thats where I'd go. I'd race up there if Penning is available.
Agreed with everything you're saying, I do think most franchises give a QB 2-3 years minimum to either sink or swim and build the entire offense around them. Other players success or failure hinge on a qb unlike other positions tho, thud the greater setback than a bust at cb for example

I hope this doesn’t happen but I think the pick will be QB Malik Willis out of Libety Bibety. I think Cool Shades is enamored with him and may even trade up for him. That’s what I think unfolds tonight.
What I wish for is Jordan Davis even it if means moving up to get him.

Let’s take Casey in the first and Tom in the seventh and just hit those five picks in between while we’re at it!!!

Here we go!!! SB 7

Right, and Willis will be drafted much higher than the sixth round.

My point is that if getting worked up over passing on Hampton for Brady (or Drew Brees) would have proved ridiculous, why get worked up over passing on Davis for Willis? Why not wait and see?

I hear yaz on that slash, I doubt Davis makes it past 10-12 but think he is gone by #8.

I agree with Slash about the Rats. They have to be thinking he's Haloti Ngata 2.0. From watching some film on him now, that's the comparison I got. Dude is a specimen.

Because a large part of the entertainment value of professional sports is opining who is going to be good and who will be mediocre or bad. Simply pointing out that so-and-so ran for 90 yards and a TD or went 6 innings, 1 R allowed, 7 K's is neither interesting nor challenging.

The entire fascination with fantasy sports is allowing the masses to predict how well players will perform.

I don't want a QB rd 1. For every positive on each guy, there is a negative.

I will throw this out there - do you think any of these Qb's will beat out Rudolph for #2? I don't. So you have a 1st rounder on the practice squad. Which is a no no in today's NFL.

I would rather go OL, WR, DL, S and get a starter. BPA. We have enough holes to fill.

Not wild about a QB pick, but won't lose sleep over Pickett or Willis.
If they move up to get one, I will lose my ****.

Valid point, Rudolph is more ready to play now than any QB in this draft. Although, a 1st rounder would never clear waivers, so he would never make it to the practice squad. If we do draft a QB in the 1st 3 rounds, one of the 3 would most likely be traded before cut down day (baring an injury) or we would have to carry 3 QB's all season on the active roster.

Thanks for the clarification Steelerscotty. Even more reason not to draft one early.

They aren’t looking for a #2, they’re looking for a future franchise QB. If they don’t draft one high, I think they’ll draft a #3 QB late. QB is different than all other positions. It’s OK to draft one and not expect him to play right away.
