Can a defensive player win the Heisman Again? Coolie Pimps Ed Oliver

logic is not allowed on this site

FNGs are though..........................I once was one and then I watched film and was able to guess Coolie's weight,...... or was that how much sausage he could eat or maybe it was a combination of the two.......... eventually though, I wasn't an FNG anymore....!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Coolie doesn't so much eat sausage as he just swallows it...whole sometimes...

Really Coach? Have you ever been to the Combine? Been at the weigh in? Have press credentials?

The weight tricks are nothing new, been going on forever in sports. So don’t try to insinuate some ground breaking stuff.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to postulate most of us who have watched the Combine in the last decade have seen just as, if not more than you, which would make those folks much more clever than you.

But you were wrong on height and weight. So two out of three is terrible. According to your ideology you have poor football IQ.

Dude,

I've been watching the combine for years. I don't have access to the interviews, IQ and personality tests, and such, but often comment before Mayock says the same thing. If a guy runs a 40, I can tell if he's a fast starter or a long strider, and if his time will be faster than the guy before him 75% of the time BEFORE the time flashes on the screen most of the time unless we are talkign about hundres of a second.

Look fool, Didn't I tell you Oliver had shorter than average arms just by looking at him on film? That would be a yes. I said his height is shorter than listed too. And who was the guy who said he has the feet to play ILB before such comments hit the web?

<<<<<< That would be me.

On weight trick, hey you got one right! Which is why I think Oliver's playing weight is less than what he stepped on the scale for the combine. You said it yourself. He worked out, ate a ton of the right foods, and built up muscle for the scales, and likely drank a lot of water. There are tricks to stretch out your hand to measure longer, and such. Preparing for the combine has become a business.

Most of us have watched the combine for the last several years. Just as most of us are not privy to player Interviews, IQ/personality tests, medical evaluations or white board work.

But wait, you can see in the hundredths of seconds!!! My Lord, then by all means you are the utmost expert on who is the best and worse at everything!!!

You've just proven if it talks, and walks like an ***, it is an ***. ***.

Oh, as it has been listed for now a 3rd time (post 472).....Daniel Jeremiah is the guy who said Oliver could play as an ILB on the web 4-5 months before you did on this board.

I think the point is that you are trying to claim some kind of scouting insight by saying Oliver is smaller than the average NFL DT when everybody already ******* knows that.

Yet you keep harping on it like you uncovered some hidden secret about him. Only your trained eye was able to pick up that Oliver smaller than the typical DT.

Re-read what I said. I said below. Don't mis quote me or make things up to make yourself look like a winner.

If a guy runs a 40, I can tell if he's a fast starter or a long strider, and if his time will be faster than the guy before him 75% of the time BEFORE the time flashes on the screen most of the time unless we are talking about hundreds of a second.

coach as has been stated numerous times, a guy who is shorter than average will certainly have arms that are shorter than average. You are not some super observant analysis to point out that his arms would be shorter than the average DL. You also stated that he would measure smaller than Aaron Donald, but that was incorrect. You posted that Oliver was closer to 6' than the 6'3" UH had posted...he came in at 6'1 7/8", which if I do my math right is closer to 6'3"

wow you have some great insight on how players trick the weigh in.none of what you posted is news to anyone here. Boxers, wrestlers and any athlete trying to make a heavier weight know the tricks.

You were not the first to say Oliver could play ILB, it has been posted here that the same comment was made back in July an not on some random site it was on NFL.com

I would think almost every one here could watch a group run the 40 and tell you the majority of the time if the guy is faster or slower the the guy before him, hell I bet my 15 yea old could.

and now coach will be around to crow about how he predicted Oliver would be weaker than Donald.

Not that the difference between 35 and 32 is all that much. personally as long as my DL lift in the 30s, I'm happy

3rd best DL and would have been the 4th best OL....******* weak *** *****

Such a tool....you can’t even pick up on sarcasm. I’m pretty sure anyone who remotely follows the sport can spot the difference between a “fast starter” or “long strider” during timed drills. In some cases they are both, a’la Usain Bolt.

No response on the ILB web comment? Of course not. Because your BS is iron clad.

Impressive

not weak at all

anyone heard of this guy? he seems to think he is as good as Aaron Donald (or even better)

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-do-same-as-aaron-donald-in-nfl-if-not-better

At the same time, it's also true that Oliver remains a fascinating talent -- the No. 7 player in the draft, per NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah -- who's been in the spotlight all week here in Indy and seems to be passing each test. He alleviated concerns about his size when he was measured on Friday, although his arms (31 3/4 inches) will be a concern for some, and tied for third among defensive linemen with 32 bench-press reps on Saturday. He'll have a chance to help himself again on Sunday when he performs drills with two different position groups. Oliver was among 41 prospects who were asked to work out at two positions at the combine, and he said he will indeed perform linebacker drills in addition to D-line drills Sunday.

"You never know," Oliver said. "I might end up playing linebacker in the league. I'm not (going to) object to it. I feel like I'm a D-lineman. I'm a three-technique, but if they pay me to play linebacker, guess what I'm going to be doing? Playing linebacker."

and coach don't try to say you were the first to suggest he could play LB.....because it has been proven you weren't

Kevin Givens is similar to Oliver. Measured in nearly the same height and weight as Oliver with a bit longer arms. He's undersized for DT and quick. Penn State had no depth at DT coming off sanctions so Givens had to play there.

You know, I said Aaron Donald would make a great MLB and a couple people here yelled at me, lol.

Regardless, he's fantastic and Oliver will be too.

very disappointed Oliver sat out of the drills today with a sore hamstring. But still a 36" vertical and a 10' broad jump were pretty impressive

He can clean that up at his pro day. Whatever he missed out on...

how long until a certain jackass shows up to say he is not participating because he added weight and didn't want to show he slowed down? Even though he will still weigh in at his pro day before the drills

and his vertical and broad jump were impressive for a fat version of hisself

78 KEI score. Same as Shazier.

So Houston had their pro day today...I haven't seen the official times posted but from one source

Ed Oliver's official pro day results, per @UHCougarFB:

40-yard dash: 4.73 seconds (Oliver said his 10-yard split was 1.63)
Short shuttle: 4.22 seconds
3-cone drill: 7.15 seconds
weight: 281 pounds

several tweets out there that some timed his short shuttle at 4.19...but even at 4.22 that is damn good

Jordan Reid
@JReidNFL
Just to put Ed Oliver’s 4.19 short-shuttle time into perspective, here’s some other notable results:

4.18 – Antonio Brown
4.19 – DeSean Jackson
4.24 – Saquon Barkley
4.24 – Le’Veon Bell
4.25 – Julio Jones
4.39 – Aaron Donald

You’re going to lose your best. Some draft people see Oliver as the 4th best DT in the draft.

Coach: He was 287 lbs. at the combine, and the pro-day report lists his weight at 281 lbs.

A guy weighing 280+ lbs, running a 4.73 40, with that shuttle time? And who actually played well in college, as opposed to a lot of workout warriors?

He is going early. Top 10 early? Not sure, but he is a damn fine prospect at this point.
