Canada FIRED

Yeah they did that study when he did a one step he was horrible, and a 3 step about average. If they change up that side line throws the 1 step drop could improve fairly quickly.
Missing DJ on the angle crosss was example. If he wanted him in the second window which would have been a TD he needed at least 5 step. The rush was in his face before he crossed open.

Definitely the former. Dulac and Cook are with print media and are getting passed up. Ed Bouchette who left the PG to join The Athletic team had the foresight to move forward to pure Digital. He and Gerry, at least, are trying to keep up with the “new” shock media via Twitter/X platforms also.
So a couple questions after reading these responses. I haven’t really heard anything from Omar and Andy. Moving forward now who does the hopefully exhaustive research for a new OC? Is this all on CMT? Does he have final say?
I always thought in professional sports that a GM has more power and final say over a HC. For example in many sports a GM will fire a HC.

Could the GM in this instance have fired the OC without CMT blessing? Especially given the fact that it was long overdue. I would love to have been a fly on the wall and heard Omar &Andy’s unfiltered thoughts on this situation.

Now , of course I get the Tomlin loyalty factor, with the length of employment and all that. I guess me real question is, doesn’t the GM have more power than the HC?

Ok. But it Doesn't mean Tomlin was or wasn't on board. I would think t has to be his ultimate decision as the owner. AND I don't completely trust Dulac.
Since ARII made the announcement that Canada was coming back (and the ORGANIZATION hasn’t fired a Coordinator in 80 years) doesn’t it stand to reason that the decision to let him go wasn’t ENTIRELY within Tomlin’s wheelhouse?

People making these claims are the same ones who have had Tomlin on the hot seat for the last decade. Stop with the baseless conspiracy theories. smh

Biggest takeaways when I watched this yesterday were Friday night offense and, although JT didn't say it, Friday night QB play. Pickett's college issue of bailing the pocket has magnified this year. More than ample opportunities to step up and make NFL throws but he looks the pass rushers in the eyes and bails. The missed TD to DJ was a perfect example. There was another as well in the game when he easily could've stepped up and instead ran into a sack. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the assessment of Canada's offensive structure. It's something else to hear an outsiders perspective on how poor it is.
I think we can laugh at it now that Canada is gone. Yep, I didn't notice Kenny's eyes until this guy pointed out that his head is looking at the rush and not keeping his eyes downfield. Makes way more sense that these chunk plays are being missed. Gotta keep your eyes downfield and he needs to anticipate the guy coming open. If you look at the missed TD to DJ he is staring down CA3 the entire time. Never looked anywhere else and missed the CB covering DJ flipping hips and covering CA3. It is kind of crazy that the DB made such an error in coverage to be honest. But the worst part of everything is Pickett still could have thrown the ball in the endzone and let CA3 go try to make a play. He had a step on his CB and if he lays it out there CA3 has a chance to go run underneath it. Instead we get a sack.

Every day, never a day off. Pickett, Pickett, Pickett.

This is the classic coach maneuver, constantly push your agenda no matter what thread, no matter what topic, and make sure to tell everyone all the time even when they aren't listening anymore. Beware the "Me" monster

Which is why I always say he is just another cooch a worse version. If it wasn't for his draft contributions some here would see the same things more and more posters here are seeing.

Even those he overinflates. He isn't like some diehard game watcher like some on this site are. He watches a miniscule amount of film then pushed those opinions as well. He does watch more than cooch in that aspect, but when the agenda and the attitude is the same?

Go look at his draft stuff definitely not a high percentage of hits. But he considers his draft boards as elite. He recently tried to say something along this premise.

Then you never see him in passing threads, and holiday threads. Why? Because douchebags are too self involved to go in them.

Only their mememe agenda is important.

He is a smug arse hole of the highest order, at least coach's drivel is entertaining to a degree

Wouldn't be as bad if he seldom posted similar to cooch. But the guy is thread to thread day to day rambling on about some bizarre crap.

Along with staring down receivers, O'Sullivan did a nice job pointing out certain plays how Pickett reads the field and how it makes no sense. Particularly on the "Friday night offense" plays with mirrored concepts where he was reading inside out rather than outside in.

True, non stop post after post. I already have a solid idea of what he'll say before he says it, it's that predictable.

I think that's been part of the issue of why he "misses" open concepts, because Canada had his progressions setup differently, like that swing pass to Jaylen was absolutely predetermined. Or the one that everyone talks about, the crosser, his first read was to the left away from DJ, and once he progressed to DJ the rush was there. Had his progression been to the right or DJ as the one on that play, we could be talking TD

Coooch at least had accurate head measurement criteria and reasoning………

B b but we just don't know football.

Notice the biggest douchebags in this world think they know more than everyone else? In the process you will see countless people throw out common sense football discussions in rebuttal. Yet he is still so much smarter than the ones who go on his nerves. That don't buy into the rubbish.

What I love most is that he pretends to have me on ignore. Then time to time mentions slashsteel like my past comments just popped up into his head.

No you are reading our responses daily. You have nobody on ignore. Just the little child like tantrum you enjoy having.

Warren was obviously predetermined. Pickett still had time to make that throw to DJ. He's going to take a hit, but the throw was there.

Yep, Canada ran a very basic offense. Watch 2017 LSU or 2018 Maryland. Same type of concepts. But you get away with it more in college. But Canada is gone so lets see what type of play and adjustments are made.

Wondering if it was predetermined based on the rush he saw coming pre snap. Oof you count em , they had 6 vs our 5 rushing

Very well could be. If Canada had a strangle hold on the offense and went against traditional coaching beliefs then we will find out soon enough. As the guy in the vid stated the traditional thought process is to throw into the blitz.
If Kenny looks at the single up coverage it is an easy 5 yards. But as you stated he never even looked at that side of the field. So if that was a Matt Canada throw the ball to Warren come hell or highwater that will be out of the playbook come Sunday. Maybe not the play but the coaching to say this is a predetermined throw. Which considering none of the receivers blocked I have a hard time believing it was but who knows, right. Now if we run this play vs the defense this week this immediately is a 5 yard gain. And if that is what I see the rest of the season I am 100% fine with that. The next step is to identify the 0 coverage and the fact the nickel back actually crashes down while seeing Warren. A Mahomes, Tua, Herbert immediately would look at the safety in the box to see if they are flat or getting deep. The safety stays flat which would indicate an open hole in the post.

Canada would have been much better off if he had been fired last year. He would have been able to point to getting rookie Kenny Pickett to play well enough to have a winning record. He likely would have landed a pretty good college OC job. Now he stayed a 3rd year where it became obvious to the nation that he was over his head. Now he may have to take a lower level college job.

Penn State fired their OC and the play calling and offense was much improved in the finale vs Michigan State. Hopefully the play calling for the Steelers improves enough that a true evaluation Kenny can be done in the last part of the season. There may be a good QB available in rd 1 this year and if Kenny isn’t the guy, they better draft a new one.

Think he took the remaining crayons with him upon departure or did he power it down like a true swordsman?
I’ve heard the 3 crayons caused too much confusion when the colors crossed in the middle of the field creating greens, purples and oranges so they scrapped that entire area of the field

Rumor is the new scape goats Faulkner/Sullivan have the 64 pack of colored pencils, sharper cleaner lines are the future!!!

SB!!!!

Those three crayons were used as the “black” one was for opposing “D” movement.

The blue one was for all offense except WR movement. The YELLOW one was for WR movement, all WR movement. That caused some of the WR confusion because they would be inter-mixed with other WR routes.

Interesting analysis from this same guy 2 years ago. He points out missed opportunities in the middle of the field and Kenny taking his eyes off the receivers and down to the pass rush.

You seriously posted this in two threads?

Seriously? One isn't enough?

Ford's daily regimen:

7am Wakes up looks at Kenny voodoo doll
715am glances at Rudy the red nosed reindeer poster. Mumbles, "it just isn't fair".
730am goes to Steelernation to look if there is any Kenny conversations. Starts one if none ongoing.
830am searches YouTube for new Kenny videos.
930am runs into neighbor, asks him if he has ever seen his elite draft big boards
935am checks phone for any Steelernation Kenny updates
940am -940pm randomly repeats process
10pm - stares at Rudy poster falls asleep with smile on his face.

Yikes dude, I'm starting to think you have a Ray Finkle bedroom but instead of "Die Dan Die" and "Laces Out" everywhere you have "I hate you Kenny" "Mason is a franchise QB!!!"
