"I'd rather have the experience of playing in the NFL and die 10 to 15 years earlier than not play in the NFL and have a long life," according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

Kind of weird to me, but I topped out in junior high, but what I really wanted to share was this picture of the guy -

You had to have heard the interview to really get what he was saying. He's living his dream right now, and that's an experience that he's willing to live with the risks for. The NFL is all he's ever wanted, he knows the health risks, accepts them 100%. He didn't say he'd rather die than not play, he said he's fine with the reality that he might not live as long as the average person because of the abuse his body takes from playing in the NFL.

Good for him! Finally a NFL player without a ridiculous sense of entitlement.

If the NFL suddenly decided the game was too brutal and they were closing up shop and the players would have to get on with their lives - making $40k a year instead of $4 million a year, the players would get down on their knees and beg the NFL to forget all of their complaints about the money and perils of the game and reconsider.
