Colin Cowherd: “The standard in Pittsburgh used to be winning Super Bowls. Now [under Mike], it's, uh, they had never had a losing season".

Right. But, the Steelers and their fans are the punch line.
I love Bill Cowher But he was a part of the cover up. every single one of these guys worry more about the Golden Goose that is the NFL then we the fans or the game itself

I remember when Bernie Madoff got pinched his defense was “those people should have known better.”

If we take the morality out of it, I think when it comes to the Steelers the Pats felt justified from an evolutionary perspective. Darwinism if you will. To prey upon the Steelers and their unenlightened approach.

I remember about 10 or 12 years ago during a CBS game Between the two teams Bill Belichick said, “the Steelers run the same plays they ran 10 years ago.“

He’s sort of meant it as a complement in terms of their scouting philosophy and “knowing who you are and what you do;” however, I think the patriots felt justified preying on the Steelers. From an amoral evolutionary perspective.

Because it simply was not a fair fight between the two coaching staffs. Like ever.

Let’s go all the way back to 2002 and the season opener in Foxboro? I distinctly remember the announcer saying during the game that Tom Brady had said during the week, “we are going to kick their butts.” He pretty much knew he was always going to have his way.

At the hall of fame game, Cohwer was surprised that they still ran the same game plan with the same calls.

Telling.

Tomlin has not evolved as a head coach. Others have already mentioned it, but he’s a defensive guy supposedly in a very offensive minded league with everything slanted toward the offense.
For a supposedly defensive-minded guy, the defense hasn't been very good since Cowher's players retired.
Dead last 32nd in run defense last year I seem to recall.

The Steelers refuse to change for some reason.
It’s like they’re scared of progress.

It’s a disservice to the players at times because these guys can fulfill so much playing for an organization like the Steelers, they’re career is often being mismanaged like the missed opportunities and wasted years with Ben Roethlisberger under Tomlin. Not only are they being cheated out of wins and championships, but the possibility of more endorsements.

Coach Tomlin has had so much player talent and yet has done so little with it.

Argueabley a most talented team in the nfl for a ten year stretch (prior to Ben's elbow) but yet NaDa.

HOF QB / Generational RB / Generational WR all on the team same time yet nothing.

Coach Tomlin does have his steengths but seems to fall short on the rah rah come playoff time.

Always a round peg in a square hole. No developement or cater to stregnth of players.

Just my observation and two cents.

That cardinal sin should get the HC excommunicated in Pittsburgh.

If this were figure skating Tomlin would be the big name skater five or 10 years past his prime doing double axles while the top skaters are doing quads.

Tomlin has a decent short program so to speak but he’s a non-factor in the long program at this stage.
I, for one, am really glad this isn't figure skating.

And oh yeah: Tomlin sucks.

Can space is important ...

No doubt, but good news - that can space is HERE!

I think they've got a sense of entitlement and are still living on past reputation. Teams used to hate seeing the Steelers on the schedule because they knew win or lose they were gonna get their ***** kicked. This "it's a 5 star matchup because we're in it" is such a crock of ****. Nobody is afraid to play this team anymore. It's time to get back to smash mouth football and quit trying to beat teams with fast undersized players and gimmicks.

Well said, and that's why sweeping changes have been needed. When the Pittsburgh Steelers hemorrhage points in multiple consecutive playoff games and have historical droughts, the writing has been on the wall.

It would be different if Tomlin had shown past capacity for introspection and growth. I think maybe the first red flag was his "not looking for style points" ethos that disguised a pattern of sloppy, unbuttoned play against lesser teams.

So is it Tomlin or Rooney or just game became to big a business in Steelerville. I have to agree with Cowherd for the first time. We have tanked at end of seasons for at least five years Tomlin's decision making in Cleveland playoff game is suspect for sure. Rooney could have made a big move in bringing new blood in to the mix but chose to keep Tomlin, winning record is not always such a great Thing we will see this year for sure. If it was not for Ben last year bringing us back we would have not even made playoffs. Ben was the scape goat for this organization, where the coaching staff and players did not step up and do their best. Our division has improved where we seem to have gone sideways. Lot of questions this year for sure.

Uh? The season going into a player's contract is typically pretty vital, Gomer. Minkah looked pretty lackluster last year. We let offensive weapons like Leveon and Schuster walk, but make a guy the highest paid player for his defensive position, and for what? Looking pretty average last season and now being a year older?

But yeah. Let's pay him for what he was in the past. There's a good business practice.

"No guys really, I'm smart".
And here is the proof your just looking to start stuff with people. We let LeVeon walk. thats some creative history you got going on there. And it's also further proof if you are suggesting we should have paid to keep Bell around (which we tried to do). Look how well it worked out for him when he got paid, But of course we should trust you on who should be paid after that incredibly mornic statement. There are not enough words in all of the languages known to mankind to illustrate how stupid that statement was.

I seriously can't stand internet keyboard warriors like you. I'm sure we are about 10 posts away from you starting to talk tough and threatening people. You come onto a message forum as a brand new member just being a total D bag to people cause they don't agree with your opinion. You trash talk people acting like your of higher intelligence and just being a total turd. Please go find another team or sport to like. You really bring nothing positive to the group of people here.

Well said. We opted to get rid of our HOF QB in favor of our coach who has proven incapable of getting the job done. At some point Rooney needs to stop allowing Tomlin's ethnicity be an excuse for keeping his job. IMO, we are WELL BEYOND that time and it seems as if more and more fans are feeling exactly the same.

Now we have an inexperienced GM that wasn't qualified for his position. If you don't think that coupled with a moron coach is going to sting, standby!

Creative history? Bell was one of the top 2 RBs of that time. We didn't pay him what he wanted so he left. We had the opportunity to pay him, but didn't. So saying that we "let him walk" is factually accurate, Gump.

As far as the rest of your post, sounds like someone needs a tampon change.

no there are rules no one violates

he violated them

The rules that "no one violates" that he speaks of is when his cyber buddies are talking smack and you talk smack back, you "violated" his stupid, lttle made-up rules that no one is allowed to violate. He loves playing the part of online protector to his minority friend. He's "woke", apparently.

No guys really, you can talk smack about anyone, but not my butt-buddy berma .. that's my rule" derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

No your back cause you created another account cause you got banned for being a terrible human being. It's not hard man just don't be such a disgrace to the human race. Most of us learned this in kindergarten. It's all good you have to live with yourself, we don't. No amount of being a tool on here is gonna fix your inferiority complex. Hope you get some help, just remember life isn't that bad and its not worth giving up. :)

***Hey guys did someone say that this didn't warrant its own thread? Nope. I didn't think so either! OUR forum --- not theirs!

The controversial list placed Steelers' Mike Tomlin as the 13th-best head coach in the NFL. The rankings came through the Pythagorean wins theorem, which we still don't seem to understand. But, regardless, it instantly caught fire for how low it placed Pittsburgh's leader.

Now, one of PFF's top writers, Steve Palazzolo, says sometimes the publication gets a little too deep into analytics. And, sometimes, you have to place blame on the writer.

"It was a lot easier when PFF was like, six of us," Palazzolo said on 93.7 The Fan. "People go rogue. Do whatever the want. They can interpret the data differently."

"I think it's time to start blaming Connor," he added.

Connor McQuiston is the writer being referred to, who wrote the recent rankings on PFF.

"Tomlin's a good man," Palazzolo said. "Obviously, he's been good and done well in lesser situations. He's done well in every situation. I don't know what the criteria was. I will say, I do think there's something with the, we'll call it the 'nerd factor' on Twitter. Those who are really deep in the analytics, who seem to focus a lot on fourth-down decisions, and maybe only the things you can see."

Tomlin has never been known for his analytic side of football. Where he has shined is pulling teams up from nothing, never having a losing record and bringing teams with players like Devlin Hodges at quarterback to the edge of a playoff run.

"Sometimes, it's as simple as wins and losses, and if you win more games, you're probably a good coach," Palazzolo said. "So, Mike Tomlin lands in the 'good coach' bucket. And Tomlin has certainly won a lot of games over the past 15 years."

Are you guys reading this? According to this goob, if you say his coach isn't good you're a "terrible human being". Any guess as to which idiot this guy voted for?

.. And keep in mind, he was initially arguing that we didn't let LB walk. Don't try to argue facts with those on the far left. If you do, they'll try their best to CANCEL you!

I have something that he can cancel right here. *middle finger*
