Hi all - coming to town for the first time in over ten years, after having been roughly 25 times before. The wife and I are bringing 3 of our kids for the first time, for Giants game and I want to give them the whole tailgate experience! I apologize in advance, as my wife and one stepdaughter are Giants fans, but I converted one stepdaughter to Steelers and my son had no option in the matter, so 3 of us will be donning the black n gold!

Anyway, for years, I had tailgated in a private lot, pay as you enter, just across from the casino, along side an old building and somewhat under roadway overpass.

Anyone have info if that is still an option? And if not, any info on easiest/close, pay as you enter location?

Thank you in advance and see you next week!!!

Many happy times and enjoyment of the trip !!!!

Let us know how it all went.

Unfortunately the powers that be have done their best to get rid of traditional tailgating for Steelers games. I long for day where everyone parked in an open lot. They want people to park in a garage and go to the bars and restaurants. I’d recommend getting a pass for one of the lots now if you can. I wouldn’t show up the day of the game hoping to find one that hasn’t been pre-sold.

Some info above but they moved some of the tailgate areas around due to new construction.

That is so sad and lame to hear. There was magic in tailgating in Pgh for a Steelers game, outside, of course. Is it really done for?

Not done for but I’d estimate it’s 1/5th or less of what it was.

1/5th???? Dear God, that's miniscule. I remember the "old days" (3 Rivers and Heinz) where all of outdoors was one big party. We were known as THE best tailgating town or #2 at worst. I remember seeing opponent busses getting snowballed bad. (The Indy AFC championship game comes to mind.) Away fans had to fear their life, to a healthy extent.

Part of the reason I seldomly attend games. Tailgating was half the fun and a lot cheaper than three hours at a bar and restaurant.

Thanks all for the help!

I caught up with Justin to tailgate, in NE for the AFC Championship… obviously, the tailgating ended up being the best part of the day!!!

Might have to catch up with him, or bite the bullet and buy a pass for pre-paid lot?

Thanks again!

My first NFL game was between San Fran and Dallas in the NFC championship game way back in their glory days. We simply don’t have that tailgate experience in Vancouver for any sporting event. I was shocked…..we started a good 4 hours before the game and then continued after the game for another couple of hours. Every type of booze or food imaginable. They had been tailgating in that spot of candlestick park for over 15 years with all their parking neighbors ……I could barely remember the game when I got home. The booze was flowing. What shocked me the most was everyone getting in their vehicle and driving home. This has to come into play when they try to discourage tailgating.
