House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) cited the delta variant for his decision to get vaccinated on Sunday.
Scalise got his first shot of the Pfizer vaccine at an Ochsner clinic in Louisiana and encouraged others to go get vaccinated.
“Especially with the delta variant becoming a lot more aggressive and seeing another spike, it was a good time to do it,” Scalise said in an interview, Nola reported.
“When you talk to people who run hospitals, in New Orleans or other states, 90% of people in hospital with delta variant have not been vaccinated. That’s another signal the vaccine works,” he added.
The Delta variant has been sweeping across the United States and causing a rise in cases in countries around the world. The vaccines approved in the U.S. have proven to be effective against the variant.
Scalise delayed getting a vaccine because he believed he still had natural immunity after testing positive for coronavirus antibodies. It is still unclear how long natural immunity lasts after one is infected.
The pace of vaccinations in the United States has slowed, and polls show a clear partisan dividing line, with conservatives and Republicans less likely and more hesitant about getting a vaccine.
Maybe you didn't hear me over all the fear you're spreading. Posting about the Delta Variant what?Yet another MAGA knuckle-dragger says what?
Looks like the tide is *finally* turning on the right. About ******* time.
Seems like it doesn't too much matter whether you're vaccinated or not. Seems to be an awful lot of people that are vaccinated catching the COVID. Hell, there are people who HAVE HAD COVID and are vaccinated and are still catching this ****. If in fact they really are. The tests are pretty unreliable, so who knows how much of a factor that plays in.
I don't know. I feel like we're stuck in this never ending covid circle jerk where natural immunity doesn't exist, immunizations don't seem to help much, we want a perpetual state of masking, and people are afraid to live their lives, even though their lives could end at any second regardless of whether they get COVID or not.
I can't imagine why anyone would be distrusting.
They seek to define, divide and silence.......this has been repeated thru history.....vile comrades will help load the train, metaphorically or literally.#1, we're not anti vaxers so stop believing that lie. I'm up to date on all my shots. #2 we're not far right/alt right, I'm an independent conservative who supports most social programs.
The fact that you find us all a bunch of alt right, MAGA hat wearing, racist, climate denying, assault rifle toting antivaxers is exactly why you read those types of articles, because they re-enforce your vitriol hate towards Republicans. We on the board want to ensure fair elections for all and the bullshit you read tells you that we want to restrict access to voting, which is absolutely NOT the case. You read that tripe, CNN reports on that tripe, and then you come to this board and you spew that bullshit like the muppet you are. Research independent thoughts on topics, consider them, have thoughts about them, bring them to the board to discuss and be open minded. Go read the NFL Black National ANthem thread and see how Bermuda approaches topics. We're sharing and learning differing points of view. The way you approach topics is like a liberal Teddy Ruckspin...pull the string and the same phrases are muttered.
Like, holy ****....how come this non contributing douchenozzle gets to label folks here? There you go again, painting with that broad brush of yours, solely to fit your narrative.
So you’re vaccinated
and encourage Tim and others to get vaccinated?
It would help if you actually read the article, Tim. Vaccine HESITENT is NOT vaccine RESISTANT. 55% of vaccine RESISTANT are REPUBLICAN, only 20% are Democrats.
I heard you can get the flu if you had the flu shot. Just sayingSeems like it doesn't too much matter whether you're vaccinated or not. Not to get too deep into the weeds but the flu vaccine is never 100%. Scientist watch this year's flu and see how it mutates. There will be many different strains of flu out of those mutations. The mutations with the highest probability of happening in nature will be used in vaccines. Again these are not mRNA vaccines. So you can get the flu after you've had a flu shot because you might run into a different strain. This is a very simplistic version of what happens but it's basically why people can get the flu and still get the shot. BTW a few years ago the lab strains were totally different than the natural strains so the flu shot was almost worthless.I heard you can get the flu if you had the flu shot. Just saying
The word misinformation doesn't seem right in a cartoon from the 30s. In 2021, It's the latest buzz word used by the left, used to cancel those that don't fall in line with the narrative.
Hannity becomes one of the sheep. Walls are closing in.
Looks like they bound & gagged former guy and locked him in a closet for a few hours.
its the flu broI heard you can get the flu if you had the flu shot. Just saying
This **** is infuriating:
That poor woman.
Fact or fiction, there have been lower vaccination rates in red states? Yes or no.
Yet another MAGA knuckle-dragger says what?
Odd, Tim & Steeltime have been hammering it into our heads the Delta variant is nothing to worry about.
So I emailed Wendy Guthrie who is the VP of Athlete Safety. There isn't an email address on their site, but it's either wendyguthrie@teamusa.org or wendy.guthrie@teamusa.org. I emailed both. Below is what I wrote:Good call BC, I'm going to as well now. What an absolute travesty.

Ms. Guthrie,
I recently read in a news article that the USOPC is not allowing Becca Meyers, a deaf and blind athlete, her Personal Care Assistant at the Paralympic games. I understand the committee is supplying a PCA in an attempt to limit Covid-19 exposure, but this just isn't good enough. I coach High School wrestling and I've had disabled athletes on the team. One in particular was deaf and when it came time for him to compete, he wanted me in his corner because he felt that I was able to communicate with him better than the other coaches and he trusted me. We built a rapport over the years and he didn't have to worry about some stranger giving him horrible instruction or getting frustrated with him. He was focused and ready to compete.
What the USOPC did to Becca was force her into what she felt was an unsafe environment. They removed her trusted PCA, someone that she heavily relies on, for a stranger that she has no trust in. Like Becca said in the article, "It's 2021, and I'm still fighting for my rights." It is a shame that she worked so hard to achieve her dream, to represent the United States of America, only to have it squashed due to unreasonable accommodations. I ask that you redress this with the committee and allow this disabled woman her chance to compete in the Paralympic games while having the comfort of knowing that she is in good hands with her trusted PCA.
