hey guys, still safe and sound, yesterday I went with my parents to a civic gathering, everything ok, at the end there were confrontations between manifestants and police forces though in specifc places.
Basically now we have to presidents, the incumbent dictator that got re-elected in fraudulent elections last year, the other one is the president of the Asamblea nacional or National Assembly (Juan Guaidó) which is like your Senate (legislative power), the last standing power that was chosen by regular elections, people´s vote. When there´s a vacuum of power like right now with Maduro as an usurper of the executive power Guaidó as the president of the N.A. can legally be sworn (covered by Articles in our Constitution) as interim President to call for new presidential elections.
So that's a very brief, concise and true report of what's going on. Obviously Guaidó was well coordinated with the US Gov. as almost inmediately after his oath Trump and his cabinet recognized him as the true President of our country and promised to help his cause to get this country back to democracy. That's huge for us here, because of the international gas and oil trade between the two countries, without US as a trading partner, Maduro loses a huge income that helps him stay afloat by paying off militars and social welfare
