GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced legislation on Thursday that would cut off funding to the United Nations over a vote targeting Israel settlements.

The GOP legislation would cut off funding until the president certified to Congress that a U.N. security resolution condemning Israel's expansion of settlements in occupied Palestinian territories as a violation of international law has been repealed.

Cruz said President Obama "betrayed decades of robust bipartisan American support for Israel" by having his administration abstain from voting on the resolution, rather than vetoing it.

"Congress must hold the UN accountable and use our leverage as its largest contributor to push for the repeal of this resolution, making it clear to the world that Congress stands unequivocally against efforts to undermine Israel," he added.

DEFUND THE UN!

Take that Barry!

I'd send them right on out of this country. They can go see up shop in Palestine or North Korea for all I care.

All for it. The UN is an artifact of an unrealized globalist vision and does not advance our interests. Get out.

Lindsey Graham pisses you off about half the time but then he's right about half the time.

Just listened to him on O'Reilly. Such big balls all of a sudden with respect to Russia, when Putin has been walking all over us since Obama took office. Some ineffective disinformation from Russia apparently bristles this RINO more than serious and consistent Russian aggression in multiple strategic theaters across the globe over the last eight years. Now Lindsey wants to posture about how The Donald should message to Putin in this time leading up to the inauguration? Yeah. No. Sit your stupid *** back down and watch, *******.

First, western civilized countries give WAY too much to the U.N. as compared to our Soviet and China counterparts.

China, in particular, doesn't do it's share (yet again).

We give $3 billion/year (which I'm actually okay with). The E.U. nations (in total) gives $5.5 billion. Japan gives about $1.3 billion.

China only gives $1.1 billion/year to the U.N. which is just super bad. Russia only give $420 million/year.

To me, in order to be a member, you should give a % of your GDP as a country to gain access to it's benefits. There is no reason some countries give more than others. Otherwise it's just another form of socialism where the rich countries get taxed greater than the poor countries. And even if I agreed with that thinking, China and Russia are not doing their part (and are part of the Big-5).

That said (about financing), I'm not sure I agree with threatening funds when the U.N. does something we don't agree with. Either we are in or not. And we can't expect everything they stupidly vote for to be in our best interest. We have a veto vote for a reason and we should have used it. Defunding the U.N. now won't change that.

Good to see Cruz falling in line, becoming a team player.
