Looked solid and disciplined with his route running last night, should be our #2 guy and paired with A Brown, the younger receivers still need grooming.

I have said all along he will make the team not the useless Justin Brown.

Personally id take Heyward Bey and put him into Dri Archer's role for this year, I'm not sure Archer's worth the roster spot at this point anymore. Their speed is close enough.

I said the same thing. I understand the knock on him & some of the negative history that tags along, but there's no denying his routes looked crisp, he looked quick and made some key catches in space and in traffic. If nothing else, I would like to see him get some playing time with the first team and see how that pans out. If he can't stick, back to the bench he goes. It just seems they have absolutely no confidence in what he can bring to the table...but, I also understand some of the skepticism.

He may be the only WR of the group who is even close to competent in the blocking game..

To think we would go into a season with one guy with 6 career catches,a rookie and then a 2nd year player with zero catches was ridiculous.

DHB looked good against practice squad guys and guys who will be bagging groceries next week. Yeah, a veteran who was the 7th overall pick should eat those guys alive.

I really liked J. Brown in camp. But he has issues under the lights. My problem with DHB is he can drop easy catches at times. I really don't see a #2 on the team right now.

I personally think we should use a rotation at the #2 WR spot. Brown #1, Moor slot and depending on the play call Wheaton, DHB, or Bryant at #2. Want to stretch the field put DHB in at #2 like we used to do with Wallace. Want a jump ball in the redzone, put Bryant in. Need to move the chains and are going to run a slant or back shoulder pass put Wheaton in. If we use those guys correctly we can make the #2 position a receiving threat but I don't think any one particular guy can do it.

Except Bey's not a running back. Archer actually made some nice catches.

Archer has done nothing unless he is wide and I mean wide open. He will not do much this season despite being force fed the ball.

Wheaton is gonna secure that #2 spot.....just needs that timing down with his Quarterback...not squarely on the same page right now.......but it will come

I think Wheaton will be OK. What concerns me is Moore's disappearance. Should have locked up Cotch before the Panthers made the offer.

Heyward-Bey should get a shot.

Heyward Bey's problem has never been running routes or his speed. It's been catching the football. He's Limas Sweed. You want Limas Sweed as your number 2?! He had 1 TD all season last year!

There's a reason Bey was playing in the 4th quarter.

His hands looked decent last night. He makes the team on the basis of blocking and ST savvy.

Really ? Limas Sweed had a season with 900 plus ysrds ?

Archer looked good in the times I saw him. Granted, it was a pre-season game, so I didn't spend a lot of time focusing on each player and play.

Bryant...man...THAT is why he fell to the 4th. That deep bomb to him that was broken up...he was waiting for it instead of going up to get it. He has the size to make that play. Instead...

Wheaton looked good when the pass was on target.

Ben just didn't look too good last night. At times, he did. On that TD score, he exclusively went to guys he had a trust/rapport with.

I don't think we've run one bubble screen all preseason - we're saving the good stuff for later

Heyward-Bey makes Dwight Stone look like Cris Carter. It's not that he only misses easy ones, as someone above suggested. His hands do not discriminate between the easy and the difficult...

Do you take a guy who gets open with questionable hands or a guy who has had trouble gaining separation in games? That is the decision the Steelers have with Heyward-Bey and Brown. Heyward-Bey has made plays in games, Brown hasn't. As much as I don't want to, I'm leaning toward Heyward-Bey.

I think you are right. The guy who can get separation, at least, gives the D something to think about. If you can't get separation, only one guy has to worry about you.

As much as I like Brown, if he can't get away from anyone then he is useless. Got to go with DHB as long as he can keep catching it.

This is right on. In the NFL, as a receiver, you have to have something that separates you, speed, height, toughness (Hines Ward), agility. Brown has none of those things that really make him stand out. At least DHB has speed.

DHB will be around. I wouldn't be suprised to see him as second guy first few games. Now, where did I put that stick'em
