Day 3 Targets

Connor could have been had in the 7th
Maybe.. some places had him in the fifth and others in the 7th… he is a very unique guy so you have to use him right… so some teams would have him off their board… but if they really wanted him you have to go sixth because teams will gamble with sevenths

Jeffrey Gunter, OLB from Coastal Carolina would be a nice backup piece in the 7th.

He has the size and speed to play OLB in a 3-4. The guy was a very good football player at a small school. Endless motor.

The Steelers are almost always underwhelming from round 5 on. This year was no exception.

Unbelievable that neither broadcast even mentioned the pick. Steelers doubling up on QB seems a signifIcant draft story.

from what i’m reading Oladakun is Malik Willis 2.

I don't usually criticize Steelers drafts. I've been an optimist about most of them my entire life. Excited about who they selected, even if not the board I wanted. The last few years I really started to sour a bit asking "what are we doing?"

My opinion - this draft takes the cake. I cannot understand what we really did to improve this team. This draft was stunner to me.

Pickett - ok maybe. I'm rooting for him to be a star, but would have elected to get a QB next year.
Pickens - I like the pick. Tremendous upside. Dropped 2.2% of all passes in college. Just think we had better talent we could have selected then.
Leal - he's a project. Has a 6.23 draft grade, projected to be an average starter.
Austin - ummm...lots of upside. Just hoping he isn't Dri Archer II
Heyward - a 5'11" TE, a position we don't need. A FB? We don't need one. WTH?
Robinson - doesn't even have a draft grade. We needed another LB??
Oladokun - ok, really...what in the name of Frenchy Fuqua are we doing with this pick??

Why no OL? A better DefLineman? The secondary????

Outside QB, I don't see how we addressed team needs, and the couple picks we did were "OK" at best.

I'm befuddled.

As of right now, the QB options next year are no better than Pickett. It's pretty underwhelming past the first two, IMO.

Who are you taking in front of Pickens? He was the most talented receiver left in the draft and the Steelers had a big time need at the position.

An average starter in the third at a position desperately in need of depth is good.

Day 3 outside of Austin was a mess as it almost always is. I know most of these guys don't develop into starters, but at least try to build depth at positions of need. A hybrid fullback/tight end and quarterback were not two of those positions. We also have enough special teams quality ILBs. I hope the new GM has a different philosophy.

They drafted guys to play immediately, save Canada’s job and extend Tomlin’s non losing season streak. Long term not so much.

Can’t believe Tariq Castro Fields hasn’t been drafted. He’s 6 ft 197 and ran 4.37 and has a ton of starts under his belt. He could convert to safety. I wonder if he has a medical flag or something. I’d love the Steelers to sign him as free agent.
