Will Allen is the back up Free safety. Going on his 11th year in the league after being released mid season last year by the Cowboys....

Do the steelers only typically carry 4 Safeties,, strong or free? Im wondering if Dangerfield can supplant will allen .. yes I know his expeience kills Dangerfield.

Does Dangerfield qualify for practice squad again?

Maybe im reading too much camp hype.. But I like what I have heard.

Maybe Robert Golden who is going into his 3rd season has peaked and Dangerfield has more upside.. But mid season we go get Will Allen when people got hurt.. Doesn't speak so well of Golden who was in his 2nd year.

Not sure why you're trying to replace Allen. He's been very solid the last two seasons and he will get a lot of playing time this season in different packages.

I am sure that chart will be tweaked before the 53 is set. Wouldn't surprise me if Daniel McCullers locks down number 2 NT, but he might have to beat out free agent Cam Thomas to do so.............

We will have to wait and see who flairs up the most, then take the other one, for health reasons............. LOL

Good to see Wheaton at #2, little surprised with Spence & Williams spots. I thought they may be flipped. Amazing how our OLB have no identity (fame) attached to them.
I'm hoping that will change as the year progresses.

Salute the nation

I think Thomas and McCullers probably play on the line in run situations and goal line. Tuitt I think comes in on passing down and Heyward should stay on the field always.

not trying to replace allen. Its the old problem of having experience in front of blooming talent..

Im looking at golden,, is he the future? will he be playing? How many years can will allen be as fast and effective as a 23 year old.?

Dangerfield STILL gets no respect...

That's a little complicated deal right there. Thomas is not listed as a NT, he's the starting DE opposite Heyward...BUT even though Tuitt backs up Heyward, should McClendon go down I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that Tuitt would fill in for Thomas while Thomas goes to NT and Fangupo slurps gatoraid with Arnfeldt over yonder somewhere's on that pine bench....that is unless Arnfeldt has the edge on Tuitt at the time.

I'm thinkin' Thomas surprised some folks and instead of being a backup across the line that they thought they got, he's winning a spot outright. That will put some serious pressure on Tuitt and Arnfeldt or Fangupo and McCullers to scramble to fill the vacant hole when the music stops. Right now that leaves McCullers as odd man out unless he can wiggle in there somewhere in the next couple weeks like Slash thinks he can.

I like this time of year a whole lot better than that damn draft speculation bullshit even though I ain't worth a damn at either.

Yep..here's the article that came out this morning..
