Not until the 9th win, 8th win if they have a tie already. So what week does Russ get hurt?

He could be as good as Rudy, hard to say. He may hold *some* trade value if a starter gets hurt. Like a 4th or something.Agreed- I’m fine with his as QB2
Better than Mitch
Maybe good as Rudy??? Maybe
Just don’t think he really holds much trade value
Fortunately and UNFORTUNATELY I remember way further back than
Or he takes us too number 7. Everyone is saying our D should be better because of our offense. I personally don't see that but if it is.....SB bound here we come!!!!!He could be as good as Rudy, hard to say. He may hold *some* trade value if a starter gets hurt. Like a 4th or something.
Whut choo tockin bowt?Willis…………………
In no way am I condoning the stupidity of the New York Giants' front office, but Daniel Jones isn't 36 years old, or the backup of a guy turning 36 years old. What cave are you living in. Daniel Jones got more then 40 per.
Or...Fluffy...having Bradshaw and Ben means you have a WINNING QB. Was there a need for competition then???Never having a true QB competition is not anything to brag about.
Just don’t see any way his trade value has increased since we traded for him, why would he be worth more now that he has zero time to learn a playbookHe could be as good as Rudy, hard to say. He may hold *some* trade value if a starter gets hurt. Like a 4th or something.
You don’t trade depth at QB or OLBer. Two critical positions for this team.Just don’t see any way his trade value has increased since we traded for him, why would he be worth more now that he has zero time to learn a playbook
Just don’t get that logic
He’s worth more to the Steelers as a backup than the 6-7th he might get them, MIght get them that much…probably a little high still for the trade value at that 6-7 range

Why? Because a team who thought they were ready for a run loses their starting QB for the year. D-e-s-p-e-r-a--t-i-o-n. It's the only possible reason why his trade value would increase, possibly. But whether or not a team could talk themselves into Fields being a possible solution is the question. It all depends, maybe a Balt. could convince themselves they still got a shot? Philly?Just don’t see any way his trade value has increased since we traded for him, why would he be worth more now that he has zero time to learn a playbook

Unless you're the Steelers, we get 'em for $1.2 mill. Our starting QB. Don't tell me the Rooneys don't like "a deal" when they see one. But somehow we're still not light years under the cap? Something stinks. There is just something called the price of rice for a starting nfl qb and you will find out it only varies by about 10-15 million per season.
Anyone in that position makes that deal. Anyone. He came for best opportunity to resurrect his career. Nothing else. They have a defense that got them into playoffs without top 25 QB play. That's where money is.Unless you're the Steelers, we get 'em for $1.2 mill. Our starting QB. Don't tell me the Rooneys don't like "a deal" when they see one. Perhaps, perhaps. But is it any wonder that a team infamous for being cheap signs a starting QB for a low, low sum of $1.2 mill a season? Had Mike Brown not already been set with Burrows he'd have no doubt been in on that action. You just know Art II lit got fired up at the prospect of getting a known QB so cheap. I heard he lit up like a Christmas tree.Anyone in that position makes that deal. Anyone. He came for best opportunity to resurrect his career. Nothing else. I don't have to find out anything. You can learn right now that Daniel Jones is the exception to the rule in the $40 million-plus club, simply by looking at this list from overthecap.com:There is just something called the price of rice for a starting nfl qb and you will find out it only varies by about 10-15 million per season.
That is a very large range. Mayfield is the only comparable. He is 33 million and probably on the cheap year. If one does as expected and wins playoff game they are above 30 FOR SURE. If they don't what us the point of signing.I don't have to find out anything. Every QB above Daniel Jones has either established himself as a quality NFL starter, or at least shown to have that potential. Then you can see the precipitous dropoff in next group, with only 4 guys making between $12.5 and $37.5 million. Wilson and Fields will be somewhere in that range.
I think that was the point saying the Steelers aren't paying Wilson or Fields $40 million next season. That is a very large range. Mayfield is the only comparable. He is 33 million and probably on the cheap year.
No way would we ever help out those Rats if their QB went down by shipping one of ours over for a 6-7th.Why? Because a team who thought they were ready for a run loses their starting QB for the year. Between mornings with MikeWhat I'm hearing is Tomlin time occurs every morning with the qb's. Kind of like a Vulcan mind meld. In this case a Tomlin mind meld. A ha. So that's what made Kenny dumber!
But could Fields work his way into a 2-4 year deal in that 15-25 per year range by simply flashing his potential a few times in his QB2 role to Mr. Pedigree? Think that is quite possible if Russ doesn’t return for a 2nd lap or does demand something stupid like a 30-40 per dealI think that was the point saying the Steelers aren't paying Wilson or Fields $40 million next season.
Wilson is 6 years older than Mayfield and is no way going to get a ridiculous contract at 36 years old next year. He also earned the $33 million contract following the best year of his career where he ranked 12th in passer rating.
If Russ is a mid-tier QB this year and leads the Steelers to 10 wins and a playoff win or a respectable showing in the playoffs, you offer him a deal in the Geno Smith range of $25 million per year.
In the even that Fields plays part of a season and shows some potential, it's a small sample size. I probably would throw a deal out there somewhere between Gardner Minshew and Geno Smith. To even sniff $40 million, he'd need near 3,500 passing yards, 25+ passing TDs, probably another 700+yards and 5+ TDs on the ground along with a 3:1 TD:INT ratio, 10+ wins and a playoff win. No way should Khan reach the level of stupidity that the Giants did with Daniel Jones.
By the way, I hope the Steelers have this issue at the end of the year because that means we had a great season.
Absolutely, but it would have to be a substantial sample size to go up to $25 million per year. But could Fields work his way into a 2-4 year deal in that 15-25 per year range by simply flashing his potential a few times in his QB2 role to Mr. Pedigree?
